Pros most of the staff will go out of their way to help you. Although things can take a long time to get provided. Food ok. Rooms in block 26 clean and bright. If you’re after a quiet relaxing time forget it. Block 24 filthy. Carpets so dirty and smelly. They had oil burners on the floor, to mask the smell. Toilet handle broken, toilet seat moving. Walked out of 2 restaurants because of poor service. Constant music. Not a relaxing holiday. Won’t go back.

Hotel's Favourite
This was our first trip since Covid began, we were actually scheduled to come here in April 2020 but it was cancelled. This was our second visit to the Bahia Runaway Bay, and the first time staying on the luxury side. A quick comp. between Grand vs. Luxury in our view. Luxury offers brighter rooms, better selection of beverages and more in the way of dining, i.e. unlimited a la cartes, but we still found ourselves on the Grand side more than the Luxury. In our opinion, the Grand side has the better beach. Check in was very easy, we did this online prior to arrival via the Bahia Principe App/Website. We booked most of our dinner reservations via the App without issues. We were unable to select our specific room, but the request for building 26 5th floor was honored and we couldn't have been happier! Upon arrival we stopped by the front desk, in person arrival check in, intro to the butler and luggage took less than 5 minutes and we were on our way. The Butler, Jeffery, was very personable. He asked if we had made dining reservations (which we had), he gave us the highlights of the hotel, answered a few questions and got us set up in our room in a very short time. We did not require Butler related services, so we did not see him for the rest of the trip but he was around if we needed anything. The Resort itself, it's large, be prepared to walk (or wait for a golf cart trolley/shuttle) if you want to see the entire resort. We are active, so walking was not an issue for us. The resort is beautifully landscaped, the are many pools for swimming, the beach on the Grand side (IMO) is better, larger for swimming, more palapas, etc., but we did spend a few days on the Luxury beach and enjoyed that too. It's very quiet, has a nice little swimmable reef with various sea life and the bar and washrooms are close by and well maintained. The Food, we are foodies, we travel for food experiences and prefer to enjoy the local cuisine. Buffet's usually get a bad rap, this is not the case here, we ate at Jazmin everyday for breakfast and most days for dinner, the biggest hit was the Jamaican station and the Smoothie bar, so many authentic tasty options. The a la cartes were ok (Picasso/Rodizio), The biggest a la carte hit at this resort is The Knife, which is their newest restaurant. It is modern, the menu resembles a typical chain steakhouse and the food was awesome. So much so we ate here twice for dinner. Great addition to the resort. For lunch we dined most days at the Grand side beach buffet restaurant for the jerk chicken sooooo Good! (Big Up Melford the Chef) The drinks, definitely not watered down or too strong. Most of the bartenders take pride in making drinks that taste great. Some bars have menus, but in any case the bartenders can usually make what you ask for or they can be creative and give suggestions. Our best experiences were with the Lobby Bar, which serves great drinks all day long and on the Grand side beach, (BIg up to Colin), Colin runs a clean, efficient vibe, drinks are on point, and he is fun to talk to. Great day drinks, blended Dirty Banana or Brandy Alexander. The Entertainment, we attended the shows most evenings, they were very good. The Entertainment team puts a huge effort into ensuring everyone is having a good time, and the performers are very good. Tom Cruise is the man in charge and does a wonderful job! The service in general at this resort is very good, we had some real stand outs that will stick with us, Bahia, do whatever you need to keep these staff members, they are awesome and we would be happy to see them again when we return. . Melford, Mr. Jerk from the beach restaurant, a very busy guy making the best Jerk around, Suzette from Jazmin, always warm and welcoming and it was nice to see you everyday, Colin from the beach bar (Grand Side), he had us all day long with the DB and BA's, Leterica, our housekeeper, thank you for keeping such a clean room stocked with everything we needed and working your schedule to fit with ours, we couldn't have asked for more and Dimario from the Ent. team, the Vibe and Energy you bring to the resort is awesome. The new gym on the luxury side is well equipped, spacious, not very busy and if you are into fitness, it makes for a good place to visit after a day at the beach or early in the morning before heading out. We went 4 or 5 times and it was always clean, well stocked with water, apples, etc., and the person in charge was always friendly. The only real negatives I feel deserve a mention relates to the guests in general, we can do a few things to make this place even better. When heading to the buffet, if you don't know, go slow, try small portions, see what you like and then go back for more, food waste is never cool and we saw a lot of it. The Party Pool, caution, know your limit and play within it, there were a lot of things that went on from 3 - 6pm that were in excess, go easy, yes the reviews that mention excessive drinking, projectile vomiting, sex in the pool are accurate, we were witnesses to it. But to be clear, that is a very small area/segment/population of the resort, and I'm not hating on them, hey you do you that's cool, but avoid the party pool area if you don't like that vibe, there are plenty other quiet pools, beaches for relaxing. So to sum it up, would we go back? Yes, we have been to Jamaica many times, this is our only repeat resort and when we go back to Jamaica, Bahia Runaway Bay will be our home again. One love and thank you for a great stay! Toronto

The front desk/concierge customer service is HORRIBLE and pretty much non-existent at this resort!!!! The resort gets an A+ on its overall atmosphere, appearance, amenities and entertainment so no complaints there; however, when it came to simple things like laundry, butler services, and any other issues/needs that required a call to concierge or the front desk that’s where they failed immensely. Front desk and concierge are a joke and sheer waste….They get an F+++!!!They hardly ever answer the phone and when they do you get nothing but the runaround so if you stay here and run into any issues just be forewarned and prepare to put on your walking shoes because you won’t get anything resolved when you try calling much less walking this huge property to visit the front desk! I’d love to revisit but the front desk and concierge/butler service is not worth the money paid. Take it and spend it elsewhere!

We stayed at Bahia principe Runaway bay luxury side august 5-10. Resort is clean and lovely. It’s very very big and normally we like smaller resorts. But we could walk through the buildings from one side to another. We loved the grand side for the beach. We are big beach people and beach on that side is spectacular especially if you walk to the end where the point was. It was like a private beach and we had a bartender down at that end. This is the first resort that you literally don’t have to book your beach or pool chairs early. They have tons of chairs and it was great. The food at the ala cartes was very good. Especially the knife. If I was to go back I would book grand side. Yes there are kids on that side but I am not taking care of them so that doesn’t bother us. Well done Bahia!

Having been on plenty of all inclusive holidays in Mexico, Cuba & Costa Rica to name but a few. I decided to spend a little more on my recent trip to Runaway Bay, Jamaica. The extra money spent was well, well worth it!!! I stayed in the 'luxury' side of the resort which is adults only, but the facilities in the other side are also available to use. The resort is very clean & tidy and the staff are very attentive to detail. All staff are friendly and happy to help with anything. The rooms are spacious and airy with large shower and spa bath. Plenty of bottled water delivered daily and the mini bar also refreshed daily free of charge. The bars, pool areas, beach and reception area are very well kept, clean and tidy. Plenty of staff willing to help in all areas. In my experience of all inclusive holidays previously it is the food/restaurants that let them down. This resort is definitely the best I have ever experienced on this front. The selection in the buffet restaurants was truly amazing and the quality was very good too. The speciality restaurants food was excellent and although busy, if booked early enough it is no problem getting reservations. One thing to note for the gents, the website mentions an evening dress code of long trousers for the speciality restaurants, although I took some with me, they were never needed and this rule is not enforced at all. I was that impressed with Bahia, I joined the privilege club whilst there. I never go back to the same location for holidays twice but I will use Bahia hotels elsewhere in the world. Can not fault this resort whatsoever.

We enjoyed a 5 night stay here at the beginning of April. We stayed on the adults only side & enjoyed a large suite with a fantastic view of the pool area & the beach. The resort is huge & as we stayed on the Luxury side, we were also able to enjoy the Grand as well. The hotel wasn't nearly full, however it was Spring break so there were quite a few people that over indulged at the pool bar & most nights it lead to a lot of additional noise & more often than not, vomiting :o(. Food at the restaurants was always really good, along with friendly, professional service. The beach is fairly small, however there were normally sunbeds available when we were there. Like most Caribbean beaches, seaweed was prevalent, although the hotel staff worked very hard to try to keep it to a minimum. The pools were always sparkling clean & sunbeds & towels were readily available. I highly recommend downloading the Bahia App once you have booked your vacation as you can use it to check in 5 days prior to arrival & once checked in you can book reservations for the specialty restaurants, which is what we did. At the hotel we heard a lot of people complaining that the restaurants were all booked up, these guests were not aware of the App, so had to eat at the buffet most nights. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious & clean, the food was great & the hotel amenities kept us entertained. If I had to find one thing to complain about it, it would be the amount of weed that was being smoked at the resort, you just couldn't avoid it. Although that might be part of the attraction for other travellers LOL! Special thanks to the following staff for always going above & beyond: Carmelia, Giovanni, Canni, Julian & Zdinia.

Let me start with the PROS: The Staff members are very friendly. When we arrived Bahia Principe Luxury-Adults only, the reception area is grand and beautiful. After checking in we were met with a “butler” who escorted us to our room; we had beautiful view of the pool area and ocean. Thereafter, we went down to the large beautiful pool area, where we found plenty of seating areas and cabanas. The Dj played good Island music and the staff who entertained us were great too. Lunch was served at 2 locations in the pool area-the food was good and you can also go to Jazmin buffet. Although you get the same meal every day here, they do have “theme nights,” here, you can have a bit of different meals. They also have someone cooking hot meals if you want. I was not disappointed with the food or desserts. For dinner we made reservations at the restaurants prior to leaving the states as well as the excursion. We were not disappointed with the food. However, we did not make all the reservations as we were having so much fun and didn’t want to rush to make our reservation-5 minutes late, you’ll lose your reservation. I suggest you make the reservations prior to arriving Jamaica to include your excursion. We were not disappointed with the food at the restaurant we went to. Pool closes at 7. After dinner you’ll find a show and then a beach party. So much fun. We traveled to “The Village” where you will find the disco, karaoke, and a couple of small shops to include a place where you can buy Jamaican beef patty and Coco bread and an area where they do shows. You’ll have to take a golf cart from your hotel to the village and back, staff will take you and pick you up. The nightly entertainment is great. They are staff members you’ll see walking around the resort. We did the “Four Play” Excursion and I must say that was the highlight of my trip. I paid the price in my body but well worth it. It’s a good thing we had a rest day of just relaxing. The entertainment by the pool at night was fun and funny. They accommodated us. CONS: Our room was in phase 1. There was much mold on the ceiling of the first floor and the carpet was disgusting, our room was not up to par with the rest of the resort. The mattresses were wilted, the bed covering was extremely dingy and the curtains were also dingy and the floor was extremely dirty. How do they have their employees working in those moldy conditions I don’t know. The floor was extremely dirty although you couldn’t see it. My friend walked on the floor barefooted and she found her feet black within 1 minute. We complained and they accommodated us and placed us in another room NOT in phase 1. We were happy to have the current room they gave us. We just asked for a cot as an additional bed, this worked for us. The employees know only their job and not much more. You’ll ask a question to 2 employees or more and you’ll get different responses. The karaoke location is very small. Overall I truly enjoyed my “Ladies Trip” in spite of the CONS. I hope they do fix, remove the mold and that disgusting carpet and revamp phase 1. For this reason I could not give it 5 stars.

This was a very mixed experience for us (UK couple) and although we enjoyed our holiday we would only really recommend this hotel to groups of friends. Pros: the food was fantastic and we enjoyed eating out at all of the different restaurants. Unlike other reviews, we never had any issues booking in for meals. Service was always fantastic. We also really enjoyed the lobby bar and cocktails were phenomenal. We ventured over to the far grand side of the beach we we found it was much quieter, with better swimming and more shade. Cons: speaking to a lot of other UK couples we all agreed that this hotel catered much more to American clientele and towards groups of friends. We would compare the pool to being in magaluf, it was not a pleasant or relaxing experience. The music and entertainment by the luxury pool side can only be compared to being in a strip club. Entertainment included couples lap dancing competitions and even resulted in one lady taking her top off- an experience that was highly uncomfortable for a 'romantic holiday'. Further to that, the beach party consisted of lots of twerking competitions, again something that was not comfortable to enjoy as a couple. Overall a mixed experience. We would recommend this hotel, but not to couples.

Considering this was the first time I was going on vacation alone, I wanted a hotel to offer me solitude, yet fun! And boy, oh boy, did I get more than I bargained for? "Yeah mon!" You bet I did!! This was home away from home for me for weeks! I loved every minute of being able to be in a 'judgement-free zone". I loved the hotel from airport pickup (Coming 2 staff especially Tyrone*) to the hotel porter (greeting upon arrival - Samuel) to the last airport drop-off for the return trip, no complaints. Everyone was very polite and overall, the staff must be praised for ensuring that I had a great time, both on and off property. I cannot complain about anything! The excursions were excellent (I did the chukka Party boat and the River Rafting). Two EXCELLENT and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED excursions! Shout out to my daily people and those who made my stay a lot easier and pleasurable: The staff for the beach bar Exclusively for Privilege club members (Chris aka CJ), Michado, Dwayne) kudos to you guys for ensuring that our cups were always heading to our mouths well-stocked with the best drinks daily! The beach clean-up crew especially (Karlyn), the butler team including Devon, thanks for always ensuring that everything was in order with the room day and night), Privilege Club office crew: Kayonnie, Kemoy, Melissa, Angel), Porter services especially Samuel, Shuttle drivers: Daniel, Chevar “the man who drives the car to take you far”, Exclusively for Privilege Club shuttle driver - Andrew, thanks for always showing up when a ride was requested. Megan (my room attendant and all the other room attendants on my block, Thanks Everyone!! What a bunch of hard-working and dedicated people!
