Most people flocking to the DR are looking for the huge commercial experience around the resorts. And they are missing out! Seriously... Resorts will tell guests to avoid the DR because it is dangerous, however, my experience at Macao Beach Hostel proves otherwise. Go to MBH to escape the stresses of everyday life and to unwind the island way. Macao Beach is one of the few public beaches in the area and visitors are sure to enjoy the local feel of the area. The area offers surfing, amazingly fresh seafood, a river that flows into the ocean, horseback riding, adventure tours, and so much more. If you are looking for a one of a kind experience. Weekend travelers and season travelers alike meet here. The stories and experiences shared around the campfire, in the hammocks, under the trees, or on the beach are what made this place special to me. I can't wait to go back!…
This hostel proved to be an oasis in a desert of expensive hotels and all inclusive resorts. The hostel is well located, just 10 minutes walk from one of the best beaches in DR. The stuff are very friendly and the atmosphere in general is very positive and welcoming. I ended up staying more days just because I was having so much fun. To make things even better take into account the delicious breakfast and dinner that Dolores is cooking for you everyday in half the price you would pay on the beach. Totally recommended
Together with a friend of mine I stayed at the Macao Beach Hostel for one night. We really liked the people and the ambiance over there. Everything you need is available and a beautiful beach is at walking distance. If you go there before 9pm you will see a beautiful sunset and the beach won't be full of other tourists. The hostel is kind of primitive and I believe it all contributes to a wonderful experience.
Macao Beach Hostel is by far the best hostel I stayed, relaxed and laid back . Its far away from the touristy resorts and is literally few minutes away from one of the best beaches in DR. As you walk through the streets, you will be greeted by locals with a big smile on their face, and of course by a lot of kittens and dogs :). Hostel staff Cade and Mica were very helpful, they made our stay pleasant and helped us with all the excursions we wanted to take. I would go back to this place in a heartbeat.
Macao beach hostel is one of the Best hostel I stayed at recently. First of location wise it is so close to macao beach which is very beautiful and not crowded at all. The staff made my stay amazing and they were very helpful, first night I checked in late they helped me and took me to a close Colmado “food place” to grab dinner because it was so late.. the place is off the beaten path and you get an authentic experience of Dominican Republic.. I will definitely miss this place but also I will be back soon. Thanks to everyone made my stay amazing .. y’all rock
