Not quite 4* but good enough

Hotel outside and lobby is beautiful. The room and bathroom were spacious but the decor is dated. The hotel in general could do with a very good deep clean. Pool area is great but often in the shade so not good on chillier days. Staff everywhere were very friendly and happy to help. Breakfast is very varied but the 4* quality is not quite there. I've had better food in 2* hotels. The Italian and Gourmet restaurants were excellent. The hotel is in Miramar, which is apprently a trendy area but we spend our entire time going to Habana Vieja or the centre. The hotel has a free shuttle to Habana Vieja, which was very helpful.

You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave...

Already a customer in this hotel for so many years, and it still feels great to return. It feels like coming home. The friendliness and kindness of the staff (under all circumstances) is really impressive. Special thanks go to Rocio, Addys and Rossmary of the reception on the "Level". The 9th floor gives you a real special experience, with beautiful view from all very large rooms, fresh air on your terrace - viewing the ocean (not like the bad smell in the old city center), a seperate breakfast room with an impressive variety of available food and dishes open all day long at a reasonable fair price. By the way, all hotel prices in Havana have gone down again to a more acceptable level, mainly because of availability. The pool of the hotel is one of the best in Havana and there are two 'in-house' restaurants that offer a scala of nice dishes and great wines. I am already looking forward to my next vacation in Havana.…

Just perfect

We visited melia Havana for our honeymoon and it was the best choice for us!! Everything was perfect, our room as well as the hotel was very clean, the staff was very kind and especially Ekaterina made sure that we had everything we needed!! We would surely stay at the same hotel if we ever go to Cuba again!! Thank you for giving us a very beautiful honeymoon!!!

Great Hotel

Great Hotel, Great Staff, the food not so great but that's almost everywhere in Cuba. Far from old Havana so taxi was $20 CUC each way. I would definitely come back as the place was beautiful and the staff were so awesome. BTW everyone is Cuba was awesome. We even met a Cuban guy that was so helpful he was like a friend to us. Great City Love it! will be back.

Can anyone tell me where the shuttle bus drops you off as we are thinking of doing a couple of walking tours around the city with Strawberry Tours and they meet at Francisco de Albear Statue, in front of El Floridita bar.

I don't know where the shuttle bus goes as we didn't use it, but the reception staff are very helpful and will be able to advise. They speak several different languages. Enjoy!

Is this a smoking free hotel?

The hotel is smoke free from the lobby to the top floor 9th You can smoke in the b level anywhere except inside the restaurant. You can smoke in the balcony of your room and around the pool

Are shuttles available to Varadero?

You need to ask at the hotel. Or you may ask to your travel agency. I did that trip. I think it’s cheaper in this way
