I stayed at tajpur retreat last weekends, and had a nice experience overall. Yes I must say this hotel still has a very good chance to improve , this hotel is a very simple one and if your expectation is very high then tajpur is not a place for you. We have booked an ac room and the ac was nice. It costs 1500 rs + 300 rs service charges. What I have noticed, tajpur has a similar pattern, each hotel has a dinning attached to it and contains 7 to 8 rooms. There are no other dining places other than these , so anyone went there have to have there meals at the hotels only. We were offered a meal package at the tajpur retreat costs around 525 rs (contains : lunch with chingri mach , dal , rice , sabji , chatni etc , evening snacks with fried chips and tea , dinner with mutton , dal , rice , sabji and breakfast with sandwich , tea , fruit juice) which I can say was nice. Might be it does not worth 525 rs per person but compared to a remote area like that, the value was worth. All the stuffs were very friendly and helpful. We have used there refrigerator to put our soft drinks (which we have carried with us as we were informed those might not be available at that place). Tajpur was a virgin beach, not much of crowd were there and some water activities were there arranged by tajpur retreat (like : paragliding and kayaking). Paragliding costs around 500 rs per person and kayaking for 150 rs. All the rooms has the contains the basic furnishing like : Cot (which was big actually) , AC , Table , Chairs , Mirror and TV with tata sky connection. Every room contains an attached bath and a swing at the balcony. Overall it was a quite place and a nice weekends destination to enjoy.

We went for a short trip to Tajpur on 18th Augudt'2012 and stayed there at Tajpur Retreat. The staffs were helpful, situation was adjustable ,rooms were nice but the security was not upto the mark. I was in a room where there were sliding windows. Even if I locked the windows, still anyone can open it from outside. On 19.08.12, when we went to sea, all money in the purse got robbed and my SBI ATM card was missing too. The resort authority did not accept the fact on the 1st hand but they had to accept when we showed them the windows were opening on applying little pressure. We did not pay the full amount. Afterwards the resort authority called me and informed that one local small boy had entered my room through sliding window and did it. They have recovered the card (which is of no use as I immediately locked the card) but not the money.
So please be careful if anyone opt for “Tajpur Retreat” Please donot select the room no. 103(Kheya) 7 104 (Chalana), both the rooms having sliding windows.

Last week we had been went to tajpur for 2days (28th,29th jan'12) & stayed at tajpur retreat. Tajpur sea beach is excellent. It is better than digha & mandermoni. Westbengal government recently start to work on tourism, Tajpur is the best place to explore. If we can plan properly this place can be a international tourist place. More over, tajpur retreat is the best place to stay. Room accomodations, food qualities are excellent. We have got very cordial behaviour from all staffs. Moreover Mr Dibeyndu Ghosh is a very interesting & helpful person. We will again visit the place.

Tajpur Retreat is a resort having a natural ambience . It is very close to the sea beach as well as Tajpur Mohona . The dishes prepared were homely and absolutely delicious . The manager of the resort,Saheb Jana, was very efficient . The rooms were in great condition and were very cozy . They were nicely decorated . The room service was also excellent . The rabbits kept in the lawn were very cute .

Owner Dibyendu Ghosh is a big liar. Reading about other resorts not having power supply, I specifically asked whether he has power supply or it is just generators - he said '20 hours uninterrupted power supply and I have 2 DG sets for backup' - does this at all mean that he has only 2 DG sets to provide power supply for 20 hours and rest 4 hours - no power !!! We did not have an A/C room, generators used to be shut off at morning 6:30 for 2 hours and evening 5 pm for 2 hours - so when do we sleep !!! Food is not worth 350/- per head per day. On the evening we arrived, we were served egg for dinner though meal package was supposed to include chicken. We were told, chicken was not available by the time we informed them that we have left for Tajpur !!!!! We had already paid for 2 days booking and there was no way they couldn't know that we were arriving for dinner !!!! They charge extra for any other variety of fish you ask for but do not deduct the charge for the fish that is already included in the package. Staff are rude. On the day when we were supposed to leave, we were initially told that we"ll leave after lunch. At morning 10:50, we were told to vacate the room by 11:30, they will serve lunch at 11:30 !!!!..Rooms were full of sand, dim lights. The beach of Tajpur is beautiful and worth a visit.... but try some other resort.

“Tajpur Retreat”-A full-size scar on the face of Tourism of West Bengal. Tajpur is coming up rapid as a tourist destination in West Bengal near Digha, and “Tajpur Retreat” the disreputable lodge will surely contribute in walking backward from development of the place. The owner Mr. D. Ghosh is a big time fraud (Chitingbaj) doesn’t hesitate to trouble his guests with all sort of nuisances. And yes one must be ready to face the muscle power if he protests. Food is horrible and you could spot few cockroach and other insects in your platter at ease. Rooms are more than filthy (All snaps posted are fabricated). Staff behavior is like they are favoring the guests just by allowing them to stay. And to top everything Mr. D. Ghosh can easily ask you for a 50% higher rate than the agreed deal on everything at the time of check out, you deny you face the barbarism of his deployed muscle men. You’ve to pay before you check out. Tajpur is a good place But “TAJPUR RETREAT”!!!! No!!! Never!!! Do not ever visit TAJPUR RETREAT if you don’t want to have a horrible experience and an upsetting weekend.

We recently visited Tajpur for a 2 nights and 3 days trip and stayed in Tajpur Retreat. When we initially inquired about the resort , the owner Dibyendu assured us that there is uninterrupted power supply at the resort. However, that was not the case.Everyday, early morning, and evening, they used to switch off the generator for 4 hours. Moreover, the food quality is not at all great, and the staff behaviour is extremely rude.

I happened to visit Tajpur by choosing a destination at random and landed up at Tajpur Retreat without doing much research. The only thing I did was check out the website of this hotel. The lesson I learnt was that the website might be nice but the actual reality at ground level will be completely opposite.
Being winter, I chose to take the non a/c room at Rs 1000 a night. Little did I know what I was getting into. After entering the room, I find the room extremely dimly lit and pretty shabby. The real fun started at night. It seems there is a huge pigeon colony in the roof of this hotel and they had their watering hole right above our room. Being the weekend, the pigeons were having a gala time throughout the night as a result we had only sleepless nights here. This hotel has supposed tie up with some folks who conduct para-sailing and kayaking. But unfortunately due to bad wind conditions we couldn't do anything on any of the days. This was one of the reasons I think I went for this hotel. Big mistake.
Tajpur itself is a very nice place. Calm and serene and allows a relaxing stress free getaway for a couple of days. There are better staying options at Tajpur and my strong advice would be to stay away from this hotel if you have a choice.

Let me first tell you: if you are accustomed to hotels with marble floors, jaccuzi, wi-fi, round the clock executive-class room service, doctors on call, etc, probably this is not a hotel for you. Otherwise continue reading.

The rooms are spacious. Some with AC - but it wont run always due to frequent voltage fluc and power cuts. However they have DG support to power the tubes and fans atleast. Beds are clean if not spic and span. Bathrooms are ok. Carry your own personal hygiene stuffs like towel, soaps, shampoo, etc. Food choices are limited to some bengali dishes or roti or parantha. But, if you like this genre of food, it is tasty(atleast in my choice). However, you have to inform them well in advance, what you are going to have in lunch/dinner. Tea/Coffee available only in some fixed time of the day. In our experience, the staffs were co-operative and we faced no problem as such. We had two ladies in our group and did not feel any security issue as such. Adjacent rooms were occupied by some 2-3 families. Considering the overall development of this place as a tourist spot (=null), this hotel is ok.
Most Importantly : Preferably, go by car and keep it with you. There is no ATM in the vicinity. Nearest is 11 Kms. So carry adequate cash to settle your bills. Carry medicine if you think you might require.

All the best.
