Detailed Reviews
Our week in Iceland was the trip of a lifetime, due in large part to our stay at the Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse! We spent eight lovely nights here, and it's no exaggeration when I say that Guðrún and Valur treated us like family. From the moment we walked in, we felt at home. The accommodations at the guesthouse were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and contemporary. We stayed in the lovely South room, which has an incredible view (and super warm and cozy blankets!). You can see the thought Guðrún puts into every detail - she keeps towels and Thermoses for guests to bring along on excursions, there is shelf space reserved for each room in the fridge, and the kitchen is stocked with a variety of products and cookware for guests who feel inclined to make their own lunch or dinner at the guesthouse. Speaking of food, I can't speak highly enough of the lovely homemade treats Guðrún made for us every morning! Freshly baked bread, cakes, pancakes, homemade jams... I couldn't get enough. And what a treat it was to come home after a long day of sightseeing and enjoy a piece of that delicious chocolate cake with a cup of tea!
One of the reasons we like to stay at B&Bs is for the home-y, personal feel. I can say without question that Guðrún and Valur are the kindest, loveliest, and most attentive hosts we've had the pleasure of staying with. Guðrún would sit with us every morning and help us plan our activities for the day (we honestly would've been lost without her!). She helped us make sure we hit all the "touristy" spots on our list, but gave us some other recommendations as well - we loved every single place she suggested, and we probably wouldn't have known to visit if she hadn't told us! We experienced some bad weather during the first half of our stay, and she helped us rearrange our plans (and kept an eye on the roads for us - we would've been in trouble if she hadn't advised us to save our drive to Vík for a different day!). Guðrún keeps a wall full of maps and brochures and works personally with all of her guests to tailor their trip to suit their interests. After a long day of sightseeing, Valur was kind enough to fill up the hot tub outside the house so we could relax and soak under the stars - a real treat for us big city folk! We were also fortunate enough to catch the northern lights on our first night there. Although the rest of the weather wasn't good for aurora-viewing, Guðrún still checked the forecast for us every night!
I could go on and on about how wonderful our stay was, but the best way to find out is to take a trip for yourself! We fell in love with this magical little country, and we know that our stay at Minna-Mosfell had a lot to do with it. We're already talking about going back, and you can bet we'll be staying with Guðrún and Valur again when we do!

My family and I (4 people) had the pleasure of being the first guests to stay in the guesthouse after their remodeling. I was originally planning a 7 day vacation around Iceland. When I got there and told Gudrun about it, she expressed concern and told us that any area that wasn't southern Iceland was still experiencing winter (I didn't bother looking this up beforehand - I just naturally assumed it would be okay by MAY). Anyway, it wasn't. It was still incredibly snowy and blizzardy in the north (even the east was still pretty cold and had lots of snow). She showed us the highway webcams and such, and I cancelled our northern plans. This was a good thing, considering 7 days around the entirety of Iceland would have been grossly inadequate. We ended up staying 5 days at the guest house, and it was a very good decision. She also lent us clothes and hats to wear. Everything else, the other reviews have already mentioned. Her guesthouse is spotless, and the breads and snacks are delicious! The kitchen is stocked with anything you might need for a good breakfast/lunch/dinner (pastas, sauces, milk, eggs.. etc etc). She spent lots of time recommending places to go and even made reservations for us! To give this 5/5 would be inadequate in my opinion. I will definitely be back in the future!!
Thanks Gudrun and Valur!

If you are thinking of holidaying in Iceland and are looking for the best place to stay then look no further. There is nothing I can write that will truly explain how wonderful Minna Mosfell is to stay.
The location of the guesthouse was fantastic, a 15 minute drive from Reykjavik and 45 minutes from the airport in Keflavik. During our stay we explored the city centre, the south coast, the golden circle and more.
Gudrun and Valur are the best hosts you could ask for. They went out of their way daily helping us plan routes to see everything we could in the limited day time, Gudrun would bring her laptop up in the mornings to show us the roads we would be using on the webcams and weather maps, even ringing up the road administration teams to find out if roads were clear or when they would be cleared and so forth to ensure our safety.
Each morning we would say when we would like breakfast and at that time fresh, homemade, warm bread would be left in the kitchen along with the juices, meats, spreads, cheeses, pasta and sauces that were always plentiful and available for us to use for our meals. Each afternoon when we got in we would also look forwards to the freshly baked, cakes, desserts and sweet treats that had been put out for us.
Gudrun and Valur really will go out of their way to do anything for you. We visited over New Year's Eve and Gudrun showed us a few different trips that were available for viewing the fires and fireworks, although these trips looked amazing we explained to Gudrun we couldn't really afford them so would just drive ourselves. Incredibly thanks to Gudrun, we had the best New Years ever being taken by her kind and friendly son in law to a couple of the local fires taking in the Icelandic atmospheres and then being taken to the best parking spots to watch the fireworks so we knew exactly where go go later.
The cleanliness of the guesthouse is perfect. Our room was lovely with a beautiful view. There are plenty of towels, flasks, blankets etc for you to help yourself to. The hot tub is amazing, Valur will fill it up fresh every day and check the temperature is perfect for you. There is few things better than sitting in the hot tub, surrounded by snow watching the northern lights.
We would usually choose somewhere with an ensuite rather than shared bathroom but I can honestly say there is nothing I would change about our trip. The shared facilities were fantastic.
Our holiday was made complete by staying here. If you have any questions I'd recommend emailing Gudrun, she is the kindest and friendliest lady and helped us book cars etc before we had even got out to Iceland.
Incredible people. Beautiful guesthouse.

We found that the price of the rooms was not justified, shared showers and toilets on the landing, breakfast is supposed to be included, it is up to us to make our own lunch, of course everything is in the fridge but we have to do it. have lunch, clear out, do the dishes and put everything away. The jacuzzi is out of service

It appears as though this guesthouse at one time provided a gracious welcome, but there has likely been a change in ownership since 2019, the last time it sported a current travel award sticker on the door. I feel very bad for the owners, as it appears as though both the guesthouse and the farm are hanging on by a thread.
The former lobby for check-in was now filled with discarded furniture in various stages of disrepair. Check my picture versus the profile picture! The property was littered everywhere one looked with trash like old tires, rusting broken equipment, old lumber, and broken-down farm buildings. The hot tub was empty and dirty. Inside the guesthouse building, although the one bathroom had an up-to-date sink and vanity, the shower was filthy with an old accumulation of soap scum residue all over the shower and the glass enclosure. Each room had a shelf in the refrigerator. Aside from this, there was a drawer labeled "breakfast" which had one old lime in a bowl. Also available were some jars of things likely discarded by previous visitors. This is not the same as providing breakfast! And again with reference to the profile pictures - there was no dessert left by the owner for the guests! The picture of the fresh rolls is from 2013!

We were lucky enough to spend 5 nights at Minna-Mosfell in December 13. Gudrun and Valur are the most lovely, hospitable hosts you could ever wish for, and made our stay even better than we could ever have imagined. From lending us warm suits when we went up to Gulfoss, to filling the hot tub, to checking weather and road conditions for us, and just generally being warm and welcoming. (Valur de-icing the car every morning was definitely very much appreciated!)
The rooms were beautifully furnished and spacious, and the shared living space was full of books and information about the local area. The guest house itself is perfectly placed for exploring Iceland. It's within easy reach of Reykjavik, and perfect as a base for touring the famous Golden Circle. Also reasonably close to the West and South coasts.
Amazingly, we didn't gain any weight during our stay, although Gudrun did her very best to feed us up on freshly baked bread, cakes and other goodies every day. I can only think we must have burned more calories than usual to keep warm in the cold Icelandic weather!
I would like to tell anyone thinking of visiting Iceland to stay here, though I'm worried this means it will be fully booked when we try to book our return visit. There are not many places I would go to twice, but Iceland (and Minna-Mosfell) definitely merit it.

I echo all of the other reviews. The guesthouse, the attentive, warm nature and genuine hospitality of Gudrun and Valur, The amazing view, the Morning baking, the tourist information tips given to us before our daily adventures, the fantastic location of the property, just far enough away from civilisation, and perfectly located to enable easy navigation to the golden circle and beyond. We will definately be returning in the future.

We loved this guesthouse - we loved the hosts as if they were family. Very thoughtful hosts (My special cake for my special day was over and above what I expected). Guðrún provided the best advice on a daily basis to help us plan. Valur's story-telling kept us enraptured. Thank you so much - our visit would've been so different had we stayed in the city.

Hi, in Minna- Mosfell Guesthouse we have three rooms. Two rooms with a double bed and one room can be a twin room and it has also a couch that can be made up as a bed.
Greetings from Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse.
The prices on our web side are for the room, including breakfast and all taxes. If more than 2 persons stay in a double room we charge extra fee.
The bathroom is shared with the 3 rooms in our guest house. There is also a bathroom at the hot tub area, a few steps from the guest house.
To enjoy a stay with us is "a must" to have a car. We are not in good public transportation connections, even we are just in 20. min drive from Reykjavik City center.
