Detailed Reviews
We had a couple of nights in Osaka, so chose this place for its combination of value and proximity to the Dotonbori area.
Whilst the website directions resulted in us getting lost on arrival, it is literally a 5 minute walk from the correct exit at Nippombashi subway station. This is along a fairly narrow pedestrian street, lined with love hotels, making for an interesting walk!
The Nepalese manager seemed to be ever-present and was always cheerful and helpful. He even brought me a great coffee – unprompted and uncharged – when I was using the wi-fi in the lounge area on one of the mornings. We also had a great chat about the diaspora of Nepalese and Indians around the world, not something I’d have expected in the heart of one of Japan’s major cities!
Our room was on the 3rd floor, meaning a lot of steps to the top, but thankfully our bags were carried up for us after we had dropped them off on arrival. The room itself was quite small, with a futon mattress on tatami mats. A few more hooks would have been great, as there wasn’t really space for everything on the floor.
We had a bit of fun getting the air-conditioner to blow warm air (it was around 6C outside overnight), but eventually succeeded, resulting in a cosy night’s sleep.
The location is great, with a right turn out of the building leading straight to the lively Dotonbori area, with its mass of restaurants and shops. It’s also only about 15 minutes’ walk to Namba station, handy for those on JR passes.
So, a good base for a stay in Osaka.

We stayed in for 3 nights in a double room.
The place itself isn't as easy to find out, but once you get it, it's fine and very central.
Just be aware of its location (I wasn't) it's on a street full of brothels so quite seedy area, it is however, 2m away from Dotonbori Street.
It's not an dangerous area, and we never felt unease.
There's no elevator, room is quite small but clean.
Wifi in room.
No fresh towels were offered besides the ones at our arrival.
Staff was quite pleasant.
Pretty basic, just be aware of its location

Just to let people know the guest house has now closed. I booked the guest house through Hostel World and they informed me that it went bankrupt just before I was due to leave. I was worried of course about finding somewhere in a short amount of time but Hostel World were fantastic and arranged for me to stay in Kaneyoshi Ryokan close by and they settled the difference of the booking.
I highly recommend the Ryokan as the staff are extremely helpful and the room was very comfortable.
It's a pity about the guest house as it had very good reviews.

Booked a family room online. Upon arrival was informed the family room with bathroom was available for only 1 night and they had arranged the 4 person dorm with shared bathroom just for the 3 of us for the next night. We had arrived earlier than the checkin time and asked if we could leave our bags until the correct time, which they agreed to. The assistant indicated that we could have a wash if we needed to and pointed to the basin behind the downstairs bar/cafe, which we interpreted as a miscommunication. Upon arriving back we found that all our bags had been taken to the room. First night was fine, only complaint was the electrical shocks we were given opening the bathroom door, we tried going barefoot thinking it was our socks/static but that didn't seem to stop it. Also, when we would arrive back at the foyer the staff would stand in the doorway and watch your every move, it wasn't in a subtle way either. It was like how you would watch an animal you've never seen before. My friend had the courtesy to use the downstairs male toilet as to not stink out our little room and when he left, he saw the assistant had been waiting close by, arms folded watching him exit the stall, which he assumed because he needed to use the toilet himself. Nope, within seconds he was in there just to fold the toilet paper roll end. We never saw anyone else in the hostel let alone use the toilet within seconds of another person. It seemed odd to say the least, I mean, wouldn't you let the smell dissipate a little?
The next morning we packed our bags to change rooms and met the assistant in the foyer and things got a little weirder. We were taken outside and given a key to the glass door next to the main building through which we could see a set of stairs leading down towards an ominous red glowing light. We got to the bottom of the stairs to be greeted with what seemed to be some sort of gutted small bar that had a lot of sheets covering sections. There were 2 bunk beds either side of the sheeted off area. We asked about the shared bathroom and the assistant told us there were only the toilets in the foyer. When prompted about a shower he directed us again to the basin behind the upstairs bar/cafe and said we can wash there. We were stunned to say the least. To cap it off we are 90% sure he said we can pee in there. Our money had already been taken by the booking company at this point. He then said there was an onsen around the corner but we would have to pay. Curiosity got the better of us and we had to look behind the sheets once he left. There were 3 dental patient seats covered up and a bunch of medical monitoring equipment pushed against the back. Maybe we've seen too many horror movies but that wasn't exactly a welcome sight. From that point on we noticed that every time we went upstairs to use the toilet the staff (either the assistant or the night watchman who was always in some dirty overalls) would watch us like hawks, always standing with arms folded in the doorway to the bar, where they would sit and watch TV with the volume near max. Watching you the entire time while you take off and put on your shoes, until you walked out the door.
We did survive the night in the "dorm". Though I'm writing this from the Shinkansen to our next destination, Hiroshima, unwashed and a little itchy. During the night we could hear occasional tugs on the door at the top of the stairs, we assume from people attracted to the glowing red light at the bottom of the stairs. The positives of the dorm I guess were that mattress was reasonable, the pillow was acceptable and they did give me a towel in case I took up the bar basin option but that was about it. The family room was fairly reasonable though I would be lying if I rated the overall experience higher that 1/5.

The boss is warm.
but Bathroom floor water leakage!!!
i booking non smooking room for 2 night but The air is pervaded by a smell [ smoking ]. the room dirty [ dust ], Take a bath for 10 minutes the hot water breakdown[ winter ].

This is not so much a hostel as it is a hotel with the attic transformed into a dorm. So dont expect hostel atmosphere. Its also in kinda a dodgy location with rent by the hour hotels and some sex shops surrounding it. I didnt come across any troubles staying here but cant say I'd recommend it.

We booked the property for 3 days during our stay in osaka but ended up leaving after 20 mins to stay somewhere else similarly priced and muuuuuch better. It is well located however the property itself is very misleading. It is a shabby accommodation that is dirty, dark and smells funny. The rooms are tiny and just have a general unsavory feel about the.we booked a canal room and got a room facing the road and construction works. We switched rooms but then there was hair on the floor and also no aircon remote. The guy who checked us in was rude and didn't communicate much. Just took cash payment, no credit card despite hotels.com saying it does, and then didn't issue a receipt. There is no 24 front desk service as advertised either. It's like pulling teeth trying to reach someone. We asked for a refund and the receipt but so far none are forthcoming. Really horrible experience and a waste of time, money and effort. Horrible please stay away from this place! I'm not a very fussy traveler but this one really was bad, trust thw review this time and don't stay here.

We recently stayed in Osaka for 1 night. We had booked a standard double room at the hotel and when we arrived we found out our room was Japanese style and we were never informed about this. They told us no other rooms were available so there was nothing they could do appart from refund JPY1000(7EUR aprox). In addition our room did not smell nice, we wanted to open the window but there wasn't a mosquito filter like all other hotels so we did not risk it and put the air con on. In addition to this we found a lot of hairs inside the bed and on the bathroom mat - it was really terrible. The bath was also rotting and the fan on top of the bath was not stable so we were a little afraid it would fall on us. Overall, a bad experience and a hotel I would not reccommend. The manager assured us he had cleaned the rooms himself but I can assure too they were not cleaned at all. Out of our 14 nights in Japan this was the only negative experience - Japanese standards are usually so good!

I and my 3 friends stayed at 2 double rooms for 1 night with satisfaction. Location is just perfect, just across the Dotonbori street. so we could find something to eat in the late night and came back to the hotel safely. the price is so cheap and the room was small but spotless. if I would book again, I prefer the twin bed rather than a double Japanese style room which has no bed but bedding on the floor. The Indian staff was very kind, he gave us disposable umbrellas for free when we ask the place we could buy umbrellas. Toilet was also quite clean and even some amenities like shampoo and conditioner provided that I never expected with the price. In general, we loved this adorable place very much. strongly recommend to whom searching for the cheap and relaxing place.
The opposite view across the dotonbori river was something strange, it was a hospital.
