Was staying in Osaka Teikoku Hotel from 17-19 Jan 2020. It is actually situated somewhere between Shinsaibashi and Namba station, abt 10 mins walk from either of these 2 stations, & abt 5 mins walk to Dotomburi. The room wise, I wld say is considered big by the standards of most Japan hotels. @ least I can still lay out my luggage, opened it and still have plenty of space to walk around the room. Though slightly aged, the room was always kept clean and tidy (Japanese standard, I presume). I like the fact that there’re hangers in the room for us to hang clothes (which is not always available in many hotels). OK, here comes the unsavoury part, the AC / heater system is centrally controlled, so you have no control over the exact temperature of your room. I asked the staff abt this & they were not able to communicate this fact to me well when I brought it up. Shld have state clearly in their ads or told us right @ the start isn’t it? Makes me wonder how wld their guests be able to sleep in the summer period? Truthy to be said, judging frm some of the facilities in the room alone, u can tell that this hotel is a little aged. Personally, I think this hotel is like most of the hotels in that area, slightly overpriced for all it’s worth. Location is considered gd, but perhaps that’s all I can say abt this place…

What I like about the hotel is the cleanliness, the location, and the receptionists so far that I've dealt with were very helpful although they don't speak fluent English, but you can feel that they tried to understand and help. What I hope that it could be better was the size of the room, especially the size of the bathroom. There are not enough storage space in the room. The hotel is located only 800m away from namba metro Station, the distance seems short because of the colorful and happening surrounding of Dotonbori. Worth a try if you are going on a short stay of 2-3 days in osaka

Bad bad bad sorry excuse of a hotel. First, insisted on extra charges over Agoda rates. Service staff was extremely rude and none of them spoke comprehensible English. They didnt care we had young children and 2 elderly folks with us. Became aggressive when we had to check out slightly later. Insisted on payment for everything, including the half hour we took trying to walk back to the hotel lugging 2 young kids and 2 elderly folks. Mocked us when we couldn’t understand them. Refused to let us talk to the hotel manager. Refused to give hotel manager’s name. Refused to give manager’s work number. Refused to reveal their own names. Hotel that i would STRONGLY DISCOURAGE. Book at OWN RISK.

Hotel and rooms are pretty basic. Bed only has one pillow each (plus a throw pillow), TV has no English stations, no in-room coffee only tea, and you have to get some of the amenities in the front desk. Wi-Fi is only available in the room; not hotel lobby. Rooms are clean and all, but bathroom is a bit tight. We stayed for 5 nights and there was one day where the cleaning staff left our door ajar after she was done making up our room. We reported it to the lobby and the staff there apologised and offered to look at the CCTVs to check if anyone else went inside our room. No one did but it was still an unpleasant incident seeing your door ajar after a long day out. The best part about the hotel is the location. It more than makes up for the room’s simplicity. It’s just walking distance from the main train station and tourist area, Dotonbori. Even my niece and senior citizen mom could make the short walk!

For the price, I'd recommend this hotel due to 8 minutes walk to Shinsaibashi shopping arcade and train stations. The limousine bus to and from Kansai airport is 15 minutes walk. Use google maps to search from/to JR Namba OCAT Bus stop. So convenient to get you to hotel without need to use the train station from airport. Rooms were cleaned and bath towels replaced everyday but the carpet needs shampoo and thorough vacuuming coz it will turn your white socks to gray. Room slippers, bottled water, shampoo, conditioner, facial wash and toothbrush/toothpaste are provided in room. You can get cotton buds, razor, towel, hairbrush and shower cap at the frontdesk. However, this is not a family oriented hotel as they do not provide baby cot nor do they lend you additional comforter/pillows for baby to use. We had to bring our own baby cot. The hotel beds are also 2 single beds, not queen or king sized. At least the baby will not fal off the bed as it is beside the wall. The wall is thin, you can hear noisy neighbors. No airconditioning in room, only heater works in March. Open the window and let cool air inside. Email/chat through agoda.com was super slow, it took me 4 follow up messages before my inquiries were answered. On our second to the last day, we requested front desk to book a taxi for us in advance as we have an early morning flight and had to checkout of hotel at 4.30am. The lady said we can just inform front desk tomorrow. Thinking it would be easy for the hotel to find a taxi, we requested front desk to call a taxi at 3.30am and was informed by this unhelpful guy that there is no taxi at this hour. He told us to walk to the bus station with a baby, a stroller, 3 big heavy luggages, 2 backpacks and handcarry! The hotel does not have a tie up with any taxi company! Left hotel at 4.30am to walk and catch the 5.30am limousine bus to airport. Imagine the hassle we went through dragging all our stuff with a 7 degree windy weather, the baby suffered the most. It was a good thing that google maps helped us on the directions otherwise we would have gotten lost. When we went out of hotel, there were taxis roaming on the streets but refused to let us ride because of our luggages. There would have been no problem if the hotel managed to call a big sized taxi or van for us. Other than this, our stay would have been ok. Again, location is good and price is cheap.

The location of this hotel is superb. Dotonbori, 24h don quijote and glico man is just 2 min walk away. You can basically shop or eat anytime. Namba Station to the airport is 10 min walk with no steps and lift access. Easy for us with kids and strollers. There are many eateries and convenience stores nearby. They don’t provide breakfast but this is not an issue at all as there are many cafes or eateries that open 24h (ichiran ramen). There is a coin laundry (October laundry) just 2 min walk away. There is a sneakers washer and we used it. Our sneakers came out sparkling clean! Staff can speak English and Mandarin. They are very polite and well-mannered. Room is spacious as we could open 2-3 luggages. However, the toilet space is a little tight. They provide Shiseido toiletries which are fragrant. Read some older reviews that mentioned the hotel interior is old, but they must have revamped as the design and decoration was not old. I will stay here again.

Firstly, this is a budget hotel so our 4-star rating is based on the location and price, not 4-star for hotels generally. Osaka and the Dotonburi area is great fun. Lots of food, lights, people, shopping...People are friendly and Japan is just incredibly clean. Whenever we needed help, such as when we couldn't find the hotel the first time, staff from 7-Eleven actually walked us there. The hotel is a short walk from the busiest area by the river. Depending on the train station you prefer, it can be 5-15 minutes walk, but public transport is easy. What we liked about this hotel: - friendly and helpful staff 24/7. They helped us forward our luggage and basically were eager to assist with anything. - clean room that was also cleaned daily - extra free personal amenities. - room amenities were good quality. - location What we found odd or a bit challenging: - room did not have window - despite this, the room did not smell musty. - very small and stepped up bathroom. Like, very small. - no air-cond control but being winter it didn't bother us - hard to locate the first time

Recommendation from me - would book again. Perfect for the price - great location. Located a 10 to 15 minutes walk from Namba station. Easy check in, nice clean rooms. Japanese bathroom. Small fridge, tea & amenities in room. Room was quiet, fast internet. Best is you can walk in this great area and enjoy.

This hotel is about 15 minutes walk from Namba Station. Is about 5 minutes walk from Dontobori, consider quite convenient. The staff is polite and know simple english, no problem with simple conversation. Rooms are clean, overall we're satisfied for 3 nights stay in this hotel.
