Was staying in Osaka Teikoku Hotel from 17-19 Jan 2020. It is actually situated somewhere between Shinsaibashi and Namba station, abt 10 mins walk from either of these 2 stations, & abt 5 mins walk to Dotomburi. The room wise, I wld say is considered big by the standards of most Japan hotels. @ least I can still lay out my luggage, opened it and still have plenty of space to walk around the room. Though slightly aged, the room was always kept clean and tidy (Japanese standard, I presume). I like the fact that there’re hangers in the room for us to hang clothes (which is not always available in many hotels). OK, here comes the unsavoury part, the AC / heater system is centrally controlled, so you have no control over the exact temperature of your room. I asked the staff abt this & they were not able to communicate this fact to me well when I brought it up. Shld have state clearly in their ads or told us right @ the start isn’t it? Makes me wonder how wld their guests be able to sleep in the summer period? Truthy to be said, judging frm some of the facilities in the room alone, u can tell that this hotel is a little aged. Personally, I think this hotel is like most of the hotels in that area, slightly overpriced for all it’s worth. Location is considered gd, but perhaps that’s all I can say abt this place…

This hotel is in a good location near Dotonbori. The front desk staff are very polite. But I must mention that at night, if you stay in the room next to the elevator on the 5th floor, you can hear strange bass noises like drums or karaoke in the middle of the night if you are sensitive to sound like me. The sound is not very loud, but on a quiet night, such vibrations will greatly affect my sleep.

This hotel is great. It's near the nankai subway lines and very close to shopping areas. Its amazing to see how many restaurants are around the area along with bars and cafes. This place is located on a quiet street near a small river. Across the main street is an outdoor mall with endless shopping and hundreds or restaurants. Take the exit e5 from the subway station to find yourself in a 5 way intersection where you'll experience a busy crosswalk worthy of a great selfie pic to share with friends! Busy busy!

hotel location is ok and the room is not bad, but to my great disappointment, the front desk guy is terribly rude. I will never book this hotel again. There are tons of hotels around namba. If you can't speak japanese then this is not the hotel for you.
my only question to him is if there's a charge to use the room phone to call locally coz I need to confirm my bus reservation over the phone. He said no charge but I need to pay so I asked how much. We keep going back and forth, then he'll say no english and he just walked away and couldnt bec bothered to help. So that's it, he said nothing and I felt like he was saying rude things about me to his colleague. Not a nice way to treat guests. He actually asked me to step aside and shoo-ed me away to help a japanese male quest. I think he was being a bit sexist too coz he treats male guests nicer and I witnessed that multiple times like when my husband talks to him. he was making it sounds like its my fault coz i'm a tourist and can't speak their language.

The bathroom in my hotel room had black mold on the walls and ceiling which really stunk. The smell made me feel extremely sick, to the point of having to cover my face with a towel whenever I needed to go to the toilet or brush my teeth. The smell was so bad that I chose to bathe at local bath houses instead. I understand that this is a budget hotel and not the Ritz Carlton, but I never expected there to be a mold problem in a Japanese hotel. Maybe I was just unlucky to get a dodgy room but they really need to fix it because it's a health hazard.

We booked this hotel thru a Japanese website and were able to get a better room rate. Having been to Japan several times, I was surprised to find that the room was not as small as I expected (semi double room). The bed was comfortable and big enough for me and my wife. The flat screen TV was small and only had Japanese channels unless you buy a video card. The ref was handy for cooling our drinks and the airconditioning provided a welcome relief from the heat and humidity outside. Complimentary bottled water was replenished daily. As for the bathroom, it was clean and functional though the toilet was not as well equipped as other hotels.
To find the hotel, take exit 25 from the Namba station and then take the opposite direction and cross the Dotonboribashi bridge. Turn left at the second corner where there is a small sign indicating Nishishinshaibashi (there is a Mitsuru travel office in this corner). The hotel is located at the right side of the road. It was hard finding the it since we were looking for a big English sign of the hotel. There was none. Instead look for a small sign in front of the hotel entrance.
Location wise, this hotel was convenient since it was close to Namba station, Amerika Mura, Dotonbori, and other shops and restaurants.

I had recently stayed at this hotel with 6 other friends and we had a total of 3 rooms for 5 nights stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable though kinda small, but its acceptable to us. Locatiions were also quite convenient as it was accessible to shopping malls, train stations and makan places etc. Actually before arriving in osaka about 2 months before our trip, I was trying to get in contact with the hotel staff via email and to my surprise, this is the 1st time ever that a Hotel such as this does not have an email address for their customers to contact them or make enquiries. So this was already my 1st dissappointment and impression of this hotel ... 2nd dissappointment and digusts came, when we checked in to the hotel , the reception staff were not very friendly and helpful. On my last day after I checked out of the hotel alone as the rest of my 6 other friends have already left the hotel as their flight was in the morning and I was alone as my flight was later in the afternoon. I asked for some help from the reception after I checked out to assist me to get a taxi to OCAT bus shuttle terminal which is abt 5 mins drive from Teikoku Hotel. A lady staff from the reception looked and doesnt seem to understand what I was saying, so I had to repeat myself another 2 times to her before she can understand ... I told her i needed a taxi to go to OCAT terminal as it was raining at that time , she told me she can only help me to call for a taxi which there will be a surcharge because of booking fee. So I declined and I told her I just needed your help to assist me to get a taxi just along the road infront of the hotel. Another of her colleague also just gave me that unpleasant look and NONE of them offered to help me!! So to my displease, I just took my luggage and a big handcarry bag and I just went out to the hotel to try to flag for a taxi. Thankfully, there was a passenger who alighted right in front of the hotel and I manage to flag down the taxi. But the next problem I encountered was with the taxi driver as he couldnt understand what I was trying to tell him ... I said i want to go to OCAT Shuttle Terminal, so since he couldnt understand my simple English, I signal to him to wait, while I go back in to the hotel to get a staff to help me communicate to him in Japanese. So I left my 2 bags unattended and I rushed back into the hotel to approach a staff to help me. This reception guy was so unwillingly and unapproachable when I requests for help ,... I have to raise my voice in an angry tone and I told him very firmly that I just needed him to help me to communicate to the driver on the destination which I needed to go (OCAT) because, the driver cannot understand what I was trying to tell him. This is totally unacceptable for a Customer Service Hotel staff to behave in this manner!! Where is the hospitality and customer service you need to render to all your hotel guests???? I will never EVER stay in this hotel again!! Disgusting attitudes of your Staff! I seriously think that the hotel management should look into this issues! This is my 1st time encountering such a BAD customer service!! My experience when I was in Tokyo last year was not like that at all ... it was totally Opposite!!

I went to this hotel last week for one night in Osaka since I went there for a family trip(4 persons). I reserved the so-called "family room" with not that much expectation since it was cheap and only for a night. And oh dear, this place is a total joke. The room is actually a single-type room with 2 bunkbeds attached to it, no space to sit or even walk, and it was totally dirty. My sister found long women hair inside EVERY bedsheets which means the hotel doesnt clean up the room once the previous guests checked out. Of course, we complaint to the staffs but nothing was done. They handed us new bedsheets and told us to change it ourselves. What kind of service is that??? Is this a hotel or a youth guesthouse???
Anyway, we stayed for a night and the next morning came, we had to check out. It was raining badly outside so we decided to ask the hotel staffs to call a taxi for us. He suddenly replied me that "oh, I dont think there will be a taxi around this time since it is raining." and he pretended to call someone but didnt dial any number and said "noone answered". I was confused and disappointed but we were in rush so we couldnt do anything much. We decided to walk from the hotel to the bus station, IN THE RAIN. On the way, there were 100 of taxis outside which made me think "why did he not want to help us? Aren't we the customers?" Anyway, this hotel quality is the worst i have seen in Japan, bad services, dirty rooms, unfriendly staffs, etc.

Don't know where to start describing this hotel. Bad smells, mold in the bathroom, horrible sheets also unhelpful staffs. I complained about disgusting smell. They said no smell. Rooms full, can not change the room. I am not a picky person, the smell was really bad. Could not sleep there had to move to another hotel. I paid $180/night. What a waste. Seriously, the worst hotel ever!

For the price, I'd recommend this hotel due to 8 minutes walk to Shinsaibashi shopping arcade and train stations. The limousine bus to and from Kansai airport is 15 minutes walk. Use google maps to search from/to JR Namba OCAT Bus stop. So convenient to get you to hotel without need to use the train station from airport. Rooms were cleaned and bath towels replaced everyday but the carpet needs shampoo and thorough vacuuming coz it will turn your white socks to gray. Room slippers, bottled water, shampoo, conditioner, facial wash and toothbrush/toothpaste are provided in room. You can get cotton buds, razor, towel, hairbrush and shower cap at the frontdesk. However, this is not a family oriented hotel as they do not provide baby cot nor do they lend you additional comforter/pillows for baby to use. We had to bring our own baby cot. The hotel beds are also 2 single beds, not queen or king sized. At least the baby will not fal off the bed as it is beside the wall. The wall is thin, you can hear noisy neighbors. No airconditioning in room, only heater works in March. Open the window and let cool air inside. Email/chat through agoda.com was super slow, it took me 4 follow up messages before my inquiries were answered. On our second to the last day, we requested front desk to book a taxi for us in advance as we have an early morning flight and had to checkout of hotel at 4.30am. The lady said we can just inform front desk tomorrow. Thinking it would be easy for the hotel to find a taxi, we requested front desk to call a taxi at 3.30am and was informed by this unhelpful guy that there is no taxi at this hour. He told us to walk to the bus station with a baby, a stroller, 3 big heavy luggages, 2 backpacks and handcarry! The hotel does not have a tie up with any taxi company! Left hotel at 4.30am to walk and catch the 5.30am limousine bus to airport. Imagine the hassle we went through dragging all our stuff with a 7 degree windy weather, the baby suffered the most. It was a good thing that google maps helped us on the directions otherwise we would have gotten lost. When we went out of hotel, there were taxis roaming on the streets but refused to let us ride because of our luggages. There would have been no problem if the hotel managed to call a big sized taxi or van for us. Other than this, our stay would have been ok. Again, location is good and price is cheap.

That shouldnt be a problem with the hotel. As most hotels in Japan have such services. But to be sure, maybe you might want to check with the hotel directly just to confirm.

When I reserved the double room, I believe I was given a full size. If it was a queen, then it was a small queen sized bed. As most Japanese hotel rooms are small in size, anything bigger than a full size (at Teikoku) might be too much. Otherwise, the place is nice and clean.
