Dormy Inn group is always my favourite Japanese hotel chain. I don’t usually get to stay due to its higher pricing than my Budget. This time I found a lower rate here - Yay! I like the chain for its Onsen and breakfast spread. For this visit I had booked via Agoda for a 3 nights stay with breakfast. I realised later that I won’t get to have breakfast on the final morning due to my very early morning ETD. Thus, I booked a additional single night for the 3rd night for a room w/out breakfast. I couldn’t reduce my original booking online from 3 to 2 nights so I contacted Agoda to assist. They managed to do so after consulting the hotel (maintaining the old rate). Thus, I had 2 reservations. Prior to arrival I sent an email to Agoda to assist in communicating to DI to combine the 2 reservations so we won’t need to c/out after the 2nd night and re-c/in. I never received written confirmation from DI if this would be possible. CHECK-IN Was happy to report that DI had taken note on this issue (w/out prompting). Secondly, my request for the highest floor was honoured as well (to the highest floor under my room category - 6/F). ROOM We booked the twin room, which was large enough for our 2 medium sized luggages. Still had space to move around freely. Large singles. Clean. Quiet. We left the window opened through the night and the traffic noise level wasn’t too bad (We had the partial view of the main road, no obstruction from any close-up building). FACILITIES Great Onsen but the rotenburo was a tad too small. Luckily it’s Long-ish so once I had to share it with 3 other bathers and it wasn’t weird. Sadly no view whatsoever from the Onsen. 3 washers/dryers in the ladies’ Onsen area. Similarly with the male Onsen. Free washer and ¥100 for 20 min drying, free detergent. High security with entrance code for ladies. FOOD Great breakfast spread but I think it’s almost the same on my 2 days - Western: Pastries (croissant, waffle, bread), yoghurt, scrambled as well as omelet and fried eggs, sausage.. Japanese: Croquettes, prawn katsu, onsen tamago, grilled salmon & sanma, few types of mentaiko, many types of zensai, natto, pickles, pork Shabu2, chicken soup, miso soup, porridge, rice.. Desserts: Few types of cut fruits and sweets.. Drinks: Coffee (terrible), tea, 2 juices, milk... LOCATION Excellent - Very close to Gion Machi Bus Stops and Gion Subway Station. Taxi to the airport (at 5:30am) was slightly more than 5 minutes and cost ¥1300. SERVICE All staffs were excellent. Everyone I encountered spoke English to some level. Very good service and I had a few helps: 1. Assisted to book 2 restaurants. 2. Came up to the room to help open the window within 10 min. 3. Showed me a double room (Very small room and bed is 140cm - slightly smaller than a queen [150cm]). I would stay at a DI in a heartbeat if there is a reasonable promotional rate. It always gives me a Feel Good Factor.

The club level room that we stayed in is reasonable size in Japan. The TV in the room offers live status of the washing machines/dryers, onsen, etc. so you can find out if there's a lot of people using the facilities at the moment. The bed is comfortable and room is well kept. This hotel is around 1 minute walk from the Gion subway station, and a 10 minutes walk from JR Hakata Station. We stayed in a room on the Club level, which gives us free access to the Club lounge. It has free iced & hot coffee/tea and juices, and two massage chairs. The breakfast buffet (included in my room rate) offers lots of choices and very good quality. There is even free ramen in the evening. The onsen was very relaxing and facilities are clean are well maintained.

My first stay at a hotel of this chain. I was so impressed that it is now my first choice for next trips. The natural hot spring is real natural. Salty tasty water. I supposed it is full of healthy minerals. My skin feels so much better on a single stay. My next stop is the other dormy inn at Shimonoseki. I liked all for this stay. Front desk and all staff are very friendly. They spoke English at the front. Room is clean and practical. Stay on 7th to 9th floor to be able to use their small lounge room with free drinks any time of the day. When using the hot springs take the 2 towels found in the room. Wear the special yukata provided on the hangers. There is a separate room for men and women. Blue flag at door is man, red is woman. They provide a special access number to women if staying in the hotel for safety. The bath stays open until 6am. It is virtually empty from 4 to 5 am. Breakfast is very good for health. Large variety of fish, salads and Japanese typical breakfast. Free coffee, açaí and orange juice. Very clean and well run overall. Near famous river walk with street vendors . The night river 30 min boat tour is very nice and romantic for couples. Parking in next doors to hotel and easy to get to. Family mart next doors for snacks, drinks.

Location is easy to find from Gion Station. Many restaurants within walking distance. Many amenities provided. Great Onsen after a whole day of walking. Bed is comfortable. Breakfast is not to our liking because too oily and clothing smell after that. Overall good and recommended for the price.

Very nice Dormy-inn close to Gion station. Nice service (free laundry machine, laundry soap provided etc) and as always in a Dormy-inn nice onsen with 3 different baths and a sauna). We were upgraded to the premium floors where you can enjoy free coffee/tea/orange juice. Always a pleasure to stay at a Dormy-inn

We chose this hotel for its close proximity to Gion station. It wasn’t in a busy area which we liked. The hotel offers an onsen and free late night ramen. It’s very close to nearby attractions. We also stayed here for its coin laundry. It was free to wash and ¥100 for 20 minutes dryer. It even offered free laundry detergent so I saved mine and used theirs. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the hotel for the price. Would recommend and stay there again.

I only found out that I left my phone in the hotel when I got to the airport and had just over an hour to board. When I called the hotel and explained the situation. They not only help find my phone but also helped brought it to the airport for me so that I can make it to the flight! And regarding the hotel and facilities. It’s located conveniently next to Gion subway. Walking distance to Canal City Mall and Hakata Station and a couple of Shrines. Hot spring was very good too.
