Excellent value for money. Great location, fresh, clean and comfortable. Close to nishitestu but a little walk to the airport line

Tully s coffee shop downstairs and there are plenty more nearby

The staff are polire and non instrusive.

Stayed here in September 2011. Yes the room is really small, but typical for Japan. Extremely clean rooms. I was able to walk to every attraction in the city. Stayed at another hotel the following night for the same price, and this hotel was far superior. Concierge was also really friendly and helpful.
*Tip: Japanese hotels are not big on wifi, so bring a laptop with ethernet if you plan on using your computer...

We have been to Fukuoka many times, but it's the first time staying at Hotel Unizo. Whilst location was great, service was below par and to us, we must qualify that it's service that means everything to us.

Upon walking in to the lobby to check in, the lobby smelled of smoke. We hoped it would just be a temporary occurrence but it wasn't. The smell in the lobby was consistent throughout our 3 nights stay. The room was also very dark - you could switch on all the lights and it would still remain dark. Lampshades were black so no matter how bright you switched on the bedside table lights, you would never be able to read anything unless you put the map/book etc directly under the lampshades.

We were on the 7th floor, which we thought were quite high up but were constantly woken up by sirens/honks from traffic below. Reception service was terrible - they refused to help us make reservations (politely but still refused); we went out in the rain, lost our room card, came back and was told that we had to pay a Y2000 penalty (not sure why it's so costly when most hotels just replicate for free; though to be fair, it was stated in very fine print in the paper they give you when you check in); we wanted to borrow an umbrella to go out and get dinner but they only RENTED umbrellas, and not let their guests borrow them. We actually saw guests run across to the pharmacy across as they could buy it for cheaper!!!

Upon check out, we paid our Y2000 penalty for lost card, and when we asked for a receipt, the front desk actually showed their unhappiness! Needless to say we won't be back.

The service of the hotel reception was horrendous, especially bad was the front desk lady Mariko and what was worse was that her Manager Maki would actually say she was right by saying that I was 2.5 minutes late upon checkout!!!

A friend recommended this as she had stay d at the previously named Qurega before. As other travellers have mentioned, the location is great - within minutes to two subway lines, fantastic food and shopping options and some nightlife venues. Getting from the airport to the hotel by subway took only 20 minutes.

The hotel looks quite yet modern on the outside and the signage is rather discreet. Look out, instead, for the Tully's coffee place next door, where you can also pop in for breakfast.

Our room on the 9th floor was well appointed and spacious enough, but the smell of cigarette smoke was quite strong. Also, as our room faced the main road and there was some construction on the shrine opposite, it was rather noisy in the night and early morning, especially as I am a light sleeper.

The toilet was more spacious than expected and they had a host of ameneties, even including small takeaway shampoo and bodywash, in addition to the larger bottles in the shower. Oh, the shower is in the bathtub, which some might think odd but it does save on space.

I couldn't have asked for a better location for a hotel in Fukuoka. This hotel is right in the middle of the busiest area of Fukuoka, and is surrounded by great restaurants and malls. Train and bus stations are conveniently just a few minutes' walk away. Shopping in great when you stay here, because it is close enough to huge malls and big tax-free stores (Don Quixote, Bic Camera, Matsumoto Kiyoshi), that you can drop off your things easily at the hotel before heading out to shop for more stuff.

The room itself wasn't completely clean. The ledge against the bed had a fairly thick layer of dust, which was never cleaned during our entire 8-day stay (even though we requested for room make up everyday), and the bathroom had a funky smell. The fridge was set to a low temp (which we couldn't adjust), so some of the food we kept in there went bad.

Complete toiletries are provided, which is great, and they refill everything in a timely manner. They I was surprised that they didn't provide drinking water though.

On our last day, we needed 2 taxis to bring us and our bags (which doubled in number during the duration of our stay) to the airport, and the front desk staff was useless. They called one taxi service and when they didn't have any vehicles available to take us to the airport, they just left us to fend for ourselves with our huge bags. We ended up hailing taxis right outside the front door, but none of the staff even offered to assist us with carrying the bags outside, or even load them in the taxi.

Overall, the experience was fine, but if I ever find myself back in Fukuoka, I will definitely check out other hotels to stay in.

Surprised to find the higher-graded Hollywood suites facing at the wall of a building, looking at the rear staircase of the hotel where anyone would easily look into your room, especially during the night when you light up the room. No choice but to lower the curtain but that turned the room into a totally concealed cage. Yet the facilities is much better than the standard rooms, with a big sitting bathtub and separate toilet which gives you a sense of luxury. Other than the lack of an open view, the location is great, easily accessible by airport bus within 40 minutes and lots of people even before midnight.

Unizo is located right in the heart of Fukuoka’s shopping district. Turn any corner and you will find yourself spoilt for choice by the sheer array of cafes, restaurants & shops. Some restaurants, especially those located at the back streets, open till late. You can never go hungry here. Unizo’s room is impeccably clean and amenities are well-stocked. They even provide colorful new hair rubber bands daily. It’s always a nice surprise to find out what’s the color for the day. The only downside is that the hotel does not have an in-house onsen typical of Japanese hotel chains. But you can find a local bathhouse just a 5 min bus ride away.

I found the staff very professional. I'm not sure what problem Denisebb0429 had as all the rules were explained very clearly. Hotels can give guests some leeway, for example 30 min, but when that passes you will be charged. This was explained to me by staff. Simple to understand. Sometimes people like to take advantage of polite hotel staff.
Anyway, the English speaking staff were very helpful and answered my questions. I would recommend this hotel to foreign travelers.
