Detailed Reviews
We unfortunately decided to go see Southern France in the middle of heavy rainstorms and flooding. While driving down from Carcassonne on our way to Andorra we had to take several detours due to flooded roads. Fearing we'd be spending the night on the road, we came across this hotel. They had room, and were very friendly. In the bar were several locals who wrote us off as foreigners and kept to themselves. We ordered dinner in their restaurant room and surfed the internet while waiting for our food. The room was nice, no pressure from the staff, no worry about checkout time.

Two of us were walking the Cathar Way. The accommodation in this typical bar/restaurant was sourced by the walk organisers. I suspect it was all they could find in the area.
There are a number of good points to this place and one not so good one.
The latter is that the bedrooms are very basic. We had a room each. One of us had to have a cold shower; the other managed to summon up a bit of tepid water. There was no wifi.
The plus points are that the food and service are great. We enjoyed both supper and breakfast. And the owner and his staff were very friendly and helpful.
On balance, a positive experience.

We ate at the Bayle several times in the evening and the food was excellent and good value. However breakfast is very basic - just bread, croissant and a drink- which is fine but very expensive. Hotel rooms are quite basic and do need some updating. Walls are very thin so noise is a problem. Would recommend a garden room as the street can be noisy. Would stay here again.

I stayed in hotel Bayle 2 days ago, we where going to Toulouse coming from Andora. I was searching for Axe les thermes and this came out as it’s only 30Km from my destination, it’s true but it took us over 1 hour to arrive, the road was so narrow 2 ways and I thank god we were about 2 hours before sunset because I believe it would’ve been so hard to arrive with the dark
When we arrived it was clean quiet place but no internet signal in the room although advertised that there is internet recommend it only if this is your destination but it’s not worth the saving if not your main destination.

Despite having four young children we had to wait an hour before receiving our meal, the drinks order was forgotten completely, food was mediocre at best and we aged significantly before receiving the bill despite several requests.

The advertising on the street told us about a menu for 12:50 €. We stayed and were told that the price did not apply on Sundays. Still, we ate rainbow trout with almond, lemon and honey. It was very good. However, the french fries were not crispy and fresh. In summary, the price was too high for what we got. We wonder why so high prices in such a small village? Better with simpler food and lower prices. We are Swedes who live in France and have visited many restaurants among the mountains in southern France......

The setting nothing extraordinary, room full foot, view from the window on road, too much truck passage, too noisy for rest!!
Parking available or sidewalk space in front.
Nice, helpful staff.
Relatively clean room ...except on a bed ,(single bed) find bread crumbs in the sheets. Clean bathroom.
For breakfast, very good, with everything, nothing to say!!for the restaurant the hearty dishes ,very well presented but on the other HAND WARNING PRODUCTS IN SUMMER!!
my husband ate the pâté (fragile product) in the children's menu (of our son) and desserts the chestnut cream PRODUCT NOT FRESH!! ,a disaster ,he was sick all night as well as the next 2 days, poisoning!! The holidays started well!!
The room is in the common area of the living room / in the middle of the passage of the relaxation area as well as next to the main entrance door of the Inn, we could hear the noises of the entrance door of the Inn every passage...knowing that the floor is parquet so the slightest noise , we could all hear....
Besides, the bedroom door doesn't close.
The room smelled like naphthaline, not very nice!!!

Highly recommended hotel.
Simple and small rooms, but clean and cozy.
The staff very friendly and attentive and striving to speak in Spanish.
In the evening we had dinner in the hotel restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised.
The elaboration of the dishes, the uniformity of flavors achieved, the presentation, the quantity, as well as the service and the environment itself, made the evening spectacular.
It is also in a beautiful place, with many possibilities for cultural excursions, such as the Castle Cathar of Foix and its city.
We recommend it, without a doubt.
