Dear Fam. Valentini.

I want to thank you / your manager for helping us last Thursday. We, a group of six Irish skiers, were on a day trip skiing from Campitello in Val DI Fassa, to Armentarola and the Silent Valley and back. But due to very long queues along the route, we were not able to make it back in time, via the mountain lifts, and found ourselves in La Villa in Alta Badia at about 4.45pm with all the lifts closed.
We tried for a long time to get a taxi but could not get one, so I went into Hotel Gran Risa and met a very nice man, who booked us a taxi and allowed us to use his bar for a drink , while we were waiting for the taxi to arrive. About 25 minutes later the taxi arrived and the Taxi man, Michael, took us on the long journey back to Hotel Rubino in Campitello.
We just wanted to thank the man in Hotel Risa for being so nice to us and for helping us out.

Please feel free to use this in any promotions or reviews for your Hotel and hopefully we will come and stay in your beautiful Hotel
We did not stay there this tim but your hotel is very well located beside the lifts and looks like a very nice place to stay.

With many thanks
Pat and friends from Ireland

The Dolomites are our favorite skiing area; so we go there every March. This time, March 2011, we ended up at hotel Gran Risa, named after the magnificent slope and egg-cabin skilift immediately in front of the hotel. Hire your equipment, buy your skipass, and up you go, all within 100 meters from the front door of the hotel. Gran Risa means Big Smile and, really, this is how we felt skiing back down in the afternoon. Three slopes arrive at the hotel, a blue one (#15), a black one (the real Gran Risa), and a red 'variante'. Even if La Villa is at the edge of the Dolomite Super Ski area, the other slopes are well in reach. It took us 5 hours to do the Sella Ronda from here and we are not very good skiers. On the other side of the hotel other skilifts leave for Pedraces and the San Pietro chapel.
The hotel itself brings you a gran risa too. A very accessible and professional staff, managed by a young couple and the husband's sister, the Valentini family. Kitchen, facilities and service satisfied our expectations. We had a superior room (97 euro half board) with a large balcony and a view on the Grand Risa slope. Clean, spacious and very light because of the glass balcony doors.
We consider an extensive and well equipped wellness facility an important asset of a hotel and this goes for Gran Risa too. It has a smal but beautiful swimming pool, a Scandinavian sauna, a Turkish bath (bagno turco), a kind of herb sauna, and a relax room with water beds. We only used the Scandinavian sauna and the relax room. The two other spaces were comfortable but did not make you sweat at all. Worse, however, was that the Italian hotel guests, the majority of the wellness visitors, had no idea of what they were doing in the sauna. They did not shower before entering, wore bathing suits even in the hot sauna, went in and out continuously, and behaved noisily. The hotel owners are hardly to blame, for clear instructions all over the wellness area, published in three languages, showed how (not) to dress and behave. Fortunately, the over-dressed sauna guests were as embarassed as the nude ones, so even here we all left with a big smile. A gran risa.

We spent a week in January for skiing. Hotel is rather small, with limited areas for gathering - only bar in front of dining room.Staff is very helpful and friendly, food is of good quality and great choices. But what put this hotel on top is location - literally 15 m from entry into cable Piz la Ila . Will come back, for sure.

I have been fortunate to stay in the Alta Badia region several times over the years, in both summer and winter, and just returned from another visit tid to the Maraton dles Dolomites. This year our group stayed at the Hotel Gran Risa, located in the small but charming village of La Villa. This 2nd-generation family owned and operated 3-star hotel offers everything one could ask for. Gran Risa is beautifully appointed and sparkling clean, with large rooms and lovely public spaces. Sabrina and Norbert are exceptional hosts, providing gracious and responsive service. The food was uniformly outstanding, and the location at the base of the Piz La Ila gondola allows quick and easy access to one of the highest peaks in the area.

Usually I do not rate places as excellent, and maybe this time it is a bit overstated, but in fact I think that this hotel is on a good way to excellence.
We stayed there twice, and we had very nice holidays.
Location is perfect, you just walk out to Funivia. Wellness is very good, very high quality, with beautiful steam bath, sauna and pine alpine bath. Swimming pool warm and spacious, with jets, relax room with water beds and view to funivia.
Rooms are spacy, modern, comfortable.
My only complaint was that internet was not complementary, and I do advice to owner to change it, as this is really frustrating for guests.
Also, they offer halfboard only - so this year we did not stay with them, as the food was very good in large amount and we have be careful about our weight. But we do recommend this hotel - the owner improves it every year, offering better and better services to his guests.

The Valentinis and their staff are wonderful hosts. While the property lacks a proper lobby, the spa is wonderful, and the rooms are comfortable. The food seems to get better every year. But the overall highlight is the 10 meter walk to the lift. The bar is a great gathering place for the ski school and other day skiers since it is adjacent to the day parking.

I spent a week with my family here and found the location fabulous as it's right in front of the major ski lift...so no need to move in a car or public transportation. You can rent equipment, buy ski pass and reserve lessons without moving from your location.

The hotel has been redone. The room was comfortable, big enough for 2 ad and 2 ch. The bathroom good size. All in all no complaints on that.

What I didn't like was that the Internet wasn't available throughout the hotel. It constantly logged off. We could only use it 1 at a time. It didn't allow multiple users.
The pool area was nice but one has to pay to use a robe and slippers...This was a bit ridiculous. Add 10 euro to the room rate so that it seems like it's all included.

Breakfast was good. The dinner was ok. The quality of the food isn't that great. The wine list was ok.

But the staff and owners are very nice and very sweet. They make up for everything negative.

This ticked all the right boxes for our mid day ski lunch spot: beside the gondolas, nice terrase to soak up the sun, reasonably price and friendly. We ate the local sausage with sauerkraut and the day's special offer of cutlet in mushroom sauce - all substantial and filling. Would go back

Right by the main lift Gran Risa caught my eye. Lovely restaurant area open for skiers at lunchtime. Warm and cosy inside and lots of seating outside. Good food, good price, and its on the main ski trail so you dont go out of your way to stop there

Buona sciata
