Sleep, eat, indulge, explore and rejuvenate at our homely resort in our naturally private setting, along millionaire’s mile located south west of the treasured island of Phuket. Through using the traditional and authentic craftsmanship of Khun Veerasak, this wonderful promontory paradise has been converted into a magnificent hotel consisting of 42 rooms and villas sprawling the hillside down to the private rustic beach. All the rooms and villas are designed with the concept of ‘Ayara’, corresponding with the nature of ‘elephants’ that are gentle and kind and of course, need their space to rest. They are decorated contemporarily and traditionally, from stylish black tiles to luxuriously marbled bathroom floors, to wooden and earthly tones. Our restaurant maintains quality local ingredients with delightful homemade recipes as well as including a few of the normal favorites from around Thailand and the rest of the world. Relax at our spa, or enjoy a game of pickleball with your family and friends, surrounded by lush and greenery. Whether young and fresh or mature and experienced, Ayara Kamala provides you with our local founded atmosphere whilst our international touches amaze and surprise combining on a personal level a unique harmony, nowhere else found. Our team strives to make sure you obtain that unique warmth in this west coast paradise.

Our experience with the resort began with an email inquiring about availability for dates to hold our wedding and the pricing involved with holding our wedding there for 30 friends & family. We were lucky enough to deal with Masha, the Resident Manager directly.
From that first exchange, she made us feel like VIPs; always available to answer questions, provide us with additional information about the venue and even helped us with planning some activities for all the guests.

She definitely made the planning stage as simple and stressful as possible. Her willingness to share info and pictures made us feel comfortable enough to go with Ayara Kamala as our wedding event even though all we had to go with were just pictures and reviews.

When we arrived in Phuket, everything was as we saw and even exceeded our expectations. The team at Ayara even arranged so all guests stayed near one another and even had a welcoming committee for everyone that was arriving throughout the day & night. We weren’t the only ones treated like VIPs and I’ve received feedback from all our guests that the staffs’ service and the view from the resort set a GREAT first impression.

The individual pool was amazing; as you as swim to the edge and look out and watch the horizon above the ocean. The room and pool area were spacious as we had all our friends over leading to wedding date and we could all party and relax in that space. The only downside to our room was that the sleeping area was separated from the living room (done so the bride and groom can get ready separately?). It would have been more convenient if we didn’t have to walk through the pool area to get to the washroom & bedrooom.

Masha and her team were great leading to and during the event. We left things in her capable hands and she delivered. She took care of every little detail as to ensure we had nothing but positive memories!

All in all my wife and I would love to return to Ayara Kamala resort in the future.

This was our second visit to the Ayara Kamala Resort & Spa this year and it was really nice to see familiar faces. The hotel is beautiful and the surroundings and views of the Andaman Sea are incredible.

All the staff throughout the hotel provides exceptional service. They are extremely helpful and made our stay very enjoyable and memorable with their warm and friendly personalities - we felt very welcomed. The front desk was more than happy to help us with getting taxis from our previous hotel in Koh Lak and our trip to Phuket airport for our return to the UK. As the hotel is a little out of the way, the hotel provides a shuttle service to Kamala center several times a day at no extra cost.

We stayed in the Grand Pool villa, the villa is spacious, furnished, and decorated to a high standard, with a lovely large bathroom and an infinity pool which was quite private and made for gorgeous photos of the stunning views of the resort's lush greenery and the Andaman Sea.

The food is delicious and the service is perfect. We loved the buffet/menu items at breakfast; the variety of the dishes is amazing. The lunch/dinner a la carte menu was a little overpriced and the menu was somewhat limited compared to the restaurants in Kamala village.

Overall our experience was awesome. We would recommend this hotel to couples and families.

We had an excellent stay at Ayara Kamala Resort. The place exceeded our expectations right from the beginning. Every small detail was immaculately planned out to provide a romantic and paradise-like getaway. The staff was more like a family filled with love and pride for their craft.

We got picked up from the airport. The driver greeted us with water and a cold aromatic fresh towel. When we got to the resort, we were seated down with a chilled welcome drink. The management staff came out to greet us. A buggy then took us to our grand pool suite.

The suite was huge! There were three sections - the entertainment building, the outdoor pool area, then a separate building for the bedroom and bathroom. The high wooden ceilings and Thai style decor blended their culture with luxury well. The view of the infinity pool next to the backdrop of the ocean and sunset was picture perfect.

The team also set up a romantic canopy for us and we had an amazing seafood dinner by the pool.

During our stay, we only dined at their facility. The food was delicious and aesthetically presented. We also got a good deal for massages which was relaxing as it was conducted well in a private spacious room. They also have a whatsapp service which I liked very much as I could just send a message for food, info, booking etc and get a response within minutes.

Overall, I am in love with this place and appreciated everything. It's truly a romantic place perfect for couples and families.

My and my husband spent 4 days at the Kamala beach resort for our honeymoon and it was a great pleasure!!
The staff there are so nice (especially Tam). Food is great. Everything is super clean and the facilities such as pool and tennis court are fantastic. We even came back to this hotel for 3 more days after we had been visited the other island. I so much recommend this hotel!! Very private and very personal.
The location is on a mountain therefore, each time you need to take a shuttle bus to go down to the beach but there are shuttles and it’s definitely worth it !!

We stayed at Ayara Kamala Resort for our honeymoon in a villa with pool access, and it was excellent! The staff was very helpful, they assisted in organizing our daytrips & provided shuttle bus a few times a day to the nearest beach (Kamala). The room was extraordinary, it was huge with a comfy bathtub, there was a shower and a separate toilet. The view was breathtaking, the infinity pool is great and there is also a floating breakfast option that gave the feeling of true luxury. The bed is comfy, and the location of the hotel is also good, it is easy to ride around the island from here with a motorbike.

I Recently stayed Ayara Kamala when you first arrive the you feel welcomed and in paradise from the view that was short lived. When we went to sleep the first night there was sand in our sheets as though the guest before when to beach and the only remade the bed without changing. They brought us a complimentary plate of pineapples which was wrapped however there was ants on the plate! We took the shuttle the next day to Kamala beach which is conveniently 7min drive we came back to our room with a adult mouse caught a sticky mouse trap trying to escape outside of our room door rather then in a corner discretely hidden in the hallway. In the.room they will give you a laminate sheet of a small gecko like lizard you may see however headed to the cradle to eat one night we passed by a black snake that wasnt on that paper. The shuttle although helpful when leaving the hotel.is not consistent to pick up guest from the pick up location in the Kamala beach area the time to pick up is :10 after the hour we were left waiting until 7:30PM that is only due to whatsapping the hotel. The day we were leaving we noticed ants by the complimentary cookie the hotel gave us when we picked up the cookie there was a colony of ants on the desk and table .We let the staff know concerns there was nothing done but thanks for letting us know. 4 stars views with 1.5 star service and quality. Additional note if you go to Patong Beach take bolt and not the taxi called by the hotel you will save at least 300 baht each way.

I have been staying here since 5 Feb. Will leave tomorrow (14 Feb).
First of all, I would like to say a BIG Thank You to all the staff here.
They are extremely kind and amicable. I appreciate that very much.

Unfortunately, apart from that, there is nothing else to write home about.

The room and restaurant are not half as nice as depicted on the website.

Location wise it is really inconvenient. It looks close to Kamala Beach, but it is not. You need a car.
There is a free shuttle from the hotel to the beach, but only 4 times a day, and the return shuttle is NOT free (and finishes at around 7pm).

If you want to go diving, sailing or golfing, it will be about 30 minutes or more away.
And Warning:- taxis overcharge you in Phuket, and Grab does not always work, so prepare a lot of cash for taxi.

Lastly, I dyed my hair and stained the dressing gown. Yes, sorry about this. But charging me 500 Baht for the gown I consider to be rather mean. After all, isn't soiled towels and dressing gowns all part of the collateral damage of a hotel??

We visited with the family at Ayara Kamala for christmas and enjoyed the stay.

First and foremost the staff was excellent, friendly, accomodating and professional. We used the resort services extensively in the restaurant, spa and for orgnizing daytrips and everything worked out well. The kitchen superceded expectations and clearly someone understands something about cooking in the place. Breakfast was superb and we had dinner inhouse several times, and having tried many of the dishes, they were far better than in your average resort. For example the cheeses and materials in general were well above expecation. With heads up for the evening they provided fresh seafood and accomodated our needs with the children very well.

The room was comfortable, clean and the bed was good to sleep in. The general facilites in the resort area were nice, views excellent and the rustic beach was a fun stop with the kids. The resort is kind of middle of the island and the distances to get to places were reasonanble.

Special thanks to the babysitter from the resort and the excellent senior restaurant staff who all went above and beyound to make the stay memorable for the children and us. Will definitely have on list for a return :)

We returned to the Ayara Kamala last month (Dec 2022) having last stayed there three years earlier (return delayed by COVID). Despite a 3-year absence, the staff remembered us and had even put us into the same room (one of the ones adjoining the infinity pool) we'd had on our previous visit. The place was as beautiful as ever, the staff incredibly helpful and the service superb.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned in other reviews, though, is that besides their standard menus they also have a *superb* vegan menu; it's easily possible to stay there for well over a week and have a different vegan dinner every night - though there's also a strong temptation to return to dishes already tried simply because they're so excellent.

The town is around three and a half Km away, and there are free shuttles every couple of hours during the day between the resort and the town. We're 72 and 68 respectively and managed to run to the town and back every morning before breakfast (admittedly stopping at the shop for bottles of water en route) - and if you don't want to do the whole distance on foot then the stroll into town is pleasantly leisurely and it's not too difficult to time your trip to suit the free regular shuttle to take you back (and of course if you really hate going anywhere on foot, you can just use the shuttles).

Overall it's hard to fault the place. Yes, COVID has hit them hard and they can't always have all the staff available that you might like (to do so would of course necessitate increasing the price, so I guess opinions would differ according to whether people want to pay significantly more always to get quick service, or get a bargain and accept that people can't be in two places at once). The environment in the resort is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff work ridiculously hard yet stay cheerful and keen to help, and on top of all that the food is fantastic and reasonably priced. We'll be back.

I'm a long-term expert having lived in Kamala for the last 10 years. Upon my recent return from the United States I needed a place to spend my quarantine time - according to the sandbox rules. I chose the Ayara for my Sandbox stay as I was somewhat familiar with it and knew it had spectacular views and very nice pools (I'm a swimmer).

Ayara is located on the rocky cliffs about 2 km down the strip of winding road (known locally as "Millionaire's Mile") that runs above the coast south of Kamala town. The facilities are well maintained, the food is very good and the service is exceptional. I know they have a very nice sauna but it was closed due to the pandemic.

Because of it's unique location there are some nice walks/hikes of varying difficulty on the nearby mountain and adjoining cliffs. One can walk (carefully) down to the ocean to the very scenic and rocky private beach and take in the wonderful sunset.

This resort is a great value for the money. Highly recommended.

Dear Olympia K, Warmest greetings from Ayara Kamala Resort & Spa! Thank you for your question. The Kamala beach is a 5 minute drive from the hotel, we have shuttle buses from 8am to 8pm every 2 hours (7 times per day), pick up also. We also have a seasonal rustic beach that can be accessed within the hotel via stairs and elevator part of the way. Warm regards, Ayara Kamala Resort & Spa Team

Hi Jacky L, Depending on which one you choose I think. The actual villas with private pool will all have ocean view because they are placed high. There is a "private" pool too though shared with other visitors who bought the same package underneath the restaurant. These are not ocean view I think. At least not as much. Hope this helps!
