We stayed for 4 nights in Kelapa Resort. It is a very relaxing place indeed, offering a really great service to their guest. Located right at Kelapa beach, the hotel offers few kilometres of an inhibited cleanest virgin island beach. The views are stunning. Staying there you feel a one with the nature. Although I would expect nicer interior . I booked a beach villa which was the biggest and spacious, it had a nice sitting area inside with the build in sofa basis and a very simple looking mattress on it. I addressed my complaints to the manager and he said that the hotel is planning to upgrade the furniture and it is just because of Covid things went a bit slower. But the bed and mattress are absolute great for relaxing sleep!!! The food was a dissatisfaction too, but we noticed that generally food in Bali has a different standards from well renowned Asian culinary ones. The stuff at resort was so nice and polite. They remembered that I mentioned that this is our wedding anniversary and the chef made a cake for us. How nice!!! The resort is located very remotely from the rest of Bali. For one who seeks an entertainment it is not the right place to come. But if you really want to clear up your mind , and to enter into sort of a meditative state - this would be the great match then. The taxi from/to airport is expensive, about $75. But I learned that buying a property at West Bali costs in about 4 times more than in a central part of it. I think because if an infrastructure is less developed but it makes the area more rural and I actually was excited about it. The service and stuff at Kelapa resort are the best really, so nice, helpful and gentle. I had a spa treatment everyday and I enjoyed it too. My overall experience is very good . I may return to this beautiful place one more in my life time.…
This place is very secluded, nothing in the neighbourhood, this is a place for pure relaxation. We stayed in a garden pool villa, with a beautiful entrance, garden and own pool. The room has 4 bottles of complimentary water, a refrigerator, and a water boiler. Our room had a mosqiito net around our bed, really nice. The hotel area has a feeling of being in a jungle, and you are right next to a beach. After a few days, we moved to a beach villa instead . Our villa and pool had a beautiful direct view of the hotel infinity pool and beach with the sound of crashing waves. The beach villa had clearly been updated recently compared to the garden villa. Unfortunately, we couldn't swim in the ocean due to the strong current in the water ( maybe due to this time of year)? We enjoyed several good massages at the spa ( really enjoyed the turmeric juice before treatment). We ate all our meals at the restaurant and enjoyed the food, special thanks to Swajana who provided a high level of service in the restaurant who also made sure some of the food was without cowmilk. Many thanks to the manager Chiandra, who asked for our feedback during our stay and reacted to getting us Soya milk instead of cowmilk. A nice addition is that there is a bookshelf with paperbacks to read - suggestion to Kelapa, put the books in a closed cupboard since they wear from standing out in the weather. The Kelapa grounds have beautiful details and carvings, and the place is very well maintained. Thanks to all the staff for making this a nice stay for us. …
This review is a little late. This was the second time that we have stayed at Kelapa. The host's Gordon & Ismayanti make you feel like part of the family. Kelapa is a small boutique resort and is never crowded. This stay we elected to stay in a villa with out own pool. From our bed we could see our private pool, the main resort pool and the beach. There is nothing like going to sleep with the sound of the ocean in the background, The area of Pekutatan is a 3 hour drive from the airport, but it is well worth the drive if you are looking for peace & quiet with a stop & flop holiday. Kelapa is very much an Eco friendly resort and we were lucky enough to be invited to release baby turtles into the ocean during our stay. A gentleman regularly trims the coconut trees. One day we watched him trim the tree outside our villa, he very kindly cut a coconut from the tree prepared it for us to eat and drink. I have never has coconut so fresh. What Ismayanti does not know about coconut is not worth knowing. She showed us all sorts of products that can be made from coconuts. The staff at Kelapa are very friendly and house keeping is very discreet. They seem to know when you have gone for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast I would recommend the smoothie bowl for breakfast. The beach at the resort was completely deserted during our stay and we enjoyed our morning walks along the beach to the local village. The sunsets at the end of the day will have you taking those selfie's and sending them to your friends. If you want a quiet stay away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta & Seminyak this is the place for you. When you are there don't forget to say hello to Pluto!…
We enjoyed some wonderful days in this resort. The staff is very nice and friendly. The breakfast and all meals were delicious. The room was nice and clean. It was quiet and we relaxed. The west of Bali is very nice. A clear recommendation!
Once again we returned to our favourite resort in Bali. Peaceful and serene surroundings in a beautifully maintained garden amongst majestic palms. The beach is perfect for long walks and fossicking in the nearby rock pools, only a few fishermen and locals to be encountered. If you want to wind down this is the place to come. The staff are well trained and can't do enough to assist you. Thank you to housekeeping, who kept our villa spotless. The gardeners and maintenance people. The restaurant team and management. Most of the team have been here for a long time and it's like greeting family and old friends again. Once again, thank you each and everyone at Kelapa. Hopefully we will be back next year. Suksma, Elizabeth and David.
Kelapa Retreat is always a highlight for us when going to Bali. Its location away from the busy towns and attractions is always enjoyed. The staff are always willing to assist and are polite and humble with nothing being too much. The villas with pools are comfortable and well appointed plus very spacious. Out door shower a treat and beach a delight to walk along. A must for anybody wanting a real relaxing holiday
Utter peace and tranquility. Beautifully set villas in what appears to be a previously coconut plantation. The staff are friendly and welcoming willing to assist wherever possible. (Thanks to Putu from housekeeping offering a daily smile and chat. The Manager, Chandra is frequently present and seems he will do great things at Kelapa). The restaurant is set in front of the beach with beautiful views. Great food although slightly limited menu if staying for a longer period. Black sand beach is breathtaking and seems to go on forever. Feels like you’re the only one there save for a few locals relaxing or fishing in the afternoon. The spa is set in front of the beach. Truely peaceful massage with the subtle ocean scent and waves crashing.
After traveling around the island of Bali from south to west, north and east (we were in the center before), we returned to Kelapa again, no wonder we decided to stay here for the second time during our long vacation this summer. For us, there is everything that we like 🌊🏄🏻♀️🐠🧘🏻♀️🐢🥥🥂 🏊♂️⛵️🍸🍕🥗🍳delishes food, spacious, quiet place, kilometers of sandy diamond beach, fascinated white foam of the ocean waves, it is always pretty cool, but the water is gentle and warm, the coast is not rocky and almost all strewn with tall palm trees. But the most important thing is the Kelapa Team, who daily take care of our unforgettable holiday in Bali. Since the north, west and east are less touristy, we were pleasantly surprised by the exellent service experience at this resort. Thanks and great compliments to the team!…
It's the fourth time we come to Kelapa Retreat and this place never fails to impress us by its beauty. Located right on the seaside, we always enjoy going for long walks on the empty black sand beach, particularly towards the end of the afternoon when the sun is about to set and the sky turns from bright blue to bright pinkish orange. The beach is also a great and safe place for children to play. The ocean freshair wind is envigorating and gives a real sense of freedom. The neat modern design of the hotel fits very well with the luxurious surrrounding vegetation, including those many coconut trees that majestically dot the whole site. The ocean view villas, with or without private pools, are spacious, comfortable and clean. If you prefer rooms without the sound of seawaves, the hotel also has 'quieter' garden villas that are equally spacious and comfortable. The hotel also has a spa room with direct view on the ocean and great massage. The restaurant offers a good selection of food, many of which includes coconut in various form as a reminder of the hotel's main feature: 'kelapa' (coconut). Kelapa Retreat is a great place to relax and we'll surely come back!…
Surrounded by coconut trees and a black sand beach, Kelapa Retreat and Spa is a rare boutique hotel resort. The villas are built to ensure maximum privacy. The whole property is very well maintained despite the complicated Covid period. Food is great (with the possiblity to order fresh catch of the day) and the chef can accomodate his cooking style to different tastes. Staff is very friendly and competent, always smiling and willing to suggest activities but also not over present. Not to forget about the spa with very nice Balinese massage while listening to the ocean. Definitely on our list of places where we will come back sooner than later!
