Lovely and clean, restaurants and shops all nice and close. Yeah there’s no on-site parking but the car park 50yds away is fine and it’s free. Bus stop right outside to get to metro centre and or Newcastle city centre. Very happy and would definitely stay again.

Fairly clean and comfortable and reasonable value for money. Booked through Booking.com and there was no mention about there being no parking. Parking is 100 yards away in a PUBLIC CAR PARK and not at all secure. I didn't sleep properly either night worrying about my car. We had to come to Durham at short notice and would have stayed at Angel View where we have stayed before (excellent by the way) but it was full due to the World Cup cricket at Chester le Street. Hunting quickly for somewhere near Beamish we were persuaded by the customer star rating but wish not now. We were told to let them know when we passed Washington services so that they could meet us as we would only be able to get there at about 9pm. We let them know as requested but then had to wait 20 MINUTES in the dodgy looking car park for someone to turn up ! They tried to reassure me about the car park by pointing out how many cctv cameras there are but that just worried me more especially as they are looking at the outside of properties not the car park. When we arrived there was no wifi nor in the morning. It took three phone calls and a wait for a return call to get to speak to someone and they said they would fix it. When we got back in the evening not only was the wifi not fixed but the router was switched off / no longer visible. We have used a huge amount of mobile data to keep up with work Emails, not good really. Also details on TripAdvisor say 32" tv but it was 24" and there is no enclosed smoking area (though we are not smokers). Barring being fairly clean and comfortable and cheap I can't think of anything else to recommend it.

I stayed for one night on my way North. I wasn’t expecting great things for £35 but I was proved wrong. Hoppers Cottage suited me perfectly. It is ideally situated just off the A1. My room was clean comfortable and had a fridge. A great facility was the kitchen for guests and the outdoor courtyard. There is ample parking in a public car park where the owner meets you to let you in. There are several takeaways and restaurants very close by. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Stayed at Hoppers last night, this was very good value and a clean enjoyable guest house to stay at. The bed was comfy and the area is surprisingly quiet at night. Found a nice area to run along the Derwent river path. Kim was very helpful and very pleasant to deal with. Thank you

Stayed here for one night to break journey on way to Scotland. Accommodation is basic but comfortable, downside is parking. There is no parking by the cottage but there is a public car park some 50 yards away.

Needed a place for a stopover. Ideally situated close to A1. Despite that, had a good night's sleep, very quiet. All you need is provided, and very handy for eating places nearby. Very good value for money, actually cheaper not to book via Late Rooms but direct with the Guest House.

Wow when you pay £60 a night you don't expect much but we were blown away with this place! We have paid a lot more for a lot less so were really happy we found this gem! We were really impressed with the size of the room and the location. Had everything we needed for an overnight stay. Large room with decent shower and toilet towels provided. Fridge in room which is perfect for storing drinks and snacks in. The room also had TV with a DVD player and wifi. The shared kitchen was also large and although we didn't use it would have been handy if a group booked the house. The location was perfect for us food wise as there was a petrol station opposite with a pub nearby a Chinese take away, 2 Indian restaurants, a kebab shop and a pizza place all within walking distance. We used blueline taxis to go into the city centre and back and it was about £12 each way. Even though the owners were not on site customer service was still at an exceptional level. We were greeted in car park by lovely Kim who made us feel very welcome and talked us through the basics and gave us advice on taxis. The house keeping lady was also very friendly and offered more towels for us. Thank you for a lovely stay will defo book hoppers cottage next time we are in Newcastle 👍🏻

Stayed here for the weekend, we were greeted by a lovely lady on arrival who showed us around and gave us the key, the room was a good size and the bed was really comfortable and didn't struggle to get to sleep at all. The lady who maintained and cleaned the cottage was also really lovely and went out her way to ensure we had everything we needed and even made sure she said goodbye to us before we left. It had everything you needed including a guide which explained the bus routes into town centre and the Metro-centre, it also pointed out some of the restaurants around which were all a walk away. The weekend was very relaxing and peaceful and will be looking to book again in the future. Have recommended to family and friends

Stayed here when we went to Newcastle race course , met on arrival with the keys and shown round and told all we needed to know by a friendly helpful guy. Nice clean room with modern bathroom , ironing board & iron provided , tea and coffee facilities in room & fridge, bed very comfy.big mirrored wardrobes good for if getting ready to go out.wi fi code. Shared kitchen room. Was about £17 in a taxi on way home from centre. Garage straight across road and a chippy and few takeaways.would recommend & stay again if in Newcastle.
