You start with a delicious homemade kiwi alcohol with grandpa and grandma. 1) Rooms: clean, air conditioner and you receive towels. No garbage inside of the room (we do need one!!). 2) Bathroom: one for every one. It was not really clean when we arrived but I can believe it's because of the other rooms. Smelling a bit. Huge flaw: no curtain to shower in the bath (please hang one!!) 3) Food: dinner for 10€ pp was good. Good fish and other Montenegrin speciality. Don't think the breakfast was worth the 5€ pp. 4) People: nice grandparents with a helpful grandson if they don't understand you! Ask grandpa to play the instrument hanging in his living room! 5) Location: not that far from virpazar and much less suffocating!! I hope they continue to improve some details but I would recommend it!

We stayed one night at this guesthouse and really enjoyed it. Daniza and Pavre are very inspiring couple; they are already quite old (Pavre is already 87!) and still super active! Already when we arrived we got offered a drink and could enjoy the view from the terrace. In the evening we had dinner there, which was delicious, and the breakfast also was really good! And you should try their homemade wine, mmmmm.... The location is beautiful; nice view over the lake and a lot of green around the house (we heard so many birds!!). The only thing is that they cannot speak English very well. We did try to communicate with some Serbian and a lot of gestures, which did work out quite well ;) Also friends of them came by that could speak English so could translate our conversations.

Brilliant place to stay. Guesthouse is owned by old pair, Danica and Pavle, and they are really great people. They don't speak English at all, but somehow you always manage to understand. Don't hesitate to eat a dinner with them, it's really delicious. Rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable. Location is also great, with a beach suitable for swimming near by, and historic village - ancient part of Godinje just a few minutes walking from guesthouse. I really recommend this acommodation, mostly because of warm and genuine hospitality of ordinary Montenegrin people.

We stayed at the guest house for two nights to visit Lake Skadar and really enjoyed it. The hosts Pavle and Danica gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived late, offering us some homemade brandy and fresh figs. Eventhough we could only communicate with a few words, we felt very much at home. The rooms are basic but quite comfortable and are equipped with wifi and AC. The house has a great location with a cozy terrace and amazong views on the lake and the surrounding mountains! The village of Godinje is nice and feels very untouristy...which we quite enjoyed after the busy coast. The walk to Virpazar (about 45-60min) is stunning, but you can take a taxi for around 5€ if you dont feel like a hike. In the surroundings of godinje you can visit the lake and the old partly deserted village of lekovici which is worth the up-hill walk. The hosts provide you with a map and description of how to reach the beach and the old village. If you are looking for a basic, cheap but homey and cozy place and a warm welcome, guesthouse Skadar Lake is the perfect choice!! Thanks again to Pavle and Danica!!

The place is owned by a couple of Montenegrins, who are very nice but do not speak English at all. We were welcomed by a glass of local kiwi brandy. The prices are quite low. However, the beds are not comfortable (you could feel the springs in the mattress) and we were both ill after the dinner.

We got what we expected: quiet place, amazing lake view, great time with hosts and delicious meals. We felt like we were at grandma home. Everyone who loves nature must visit Godinje village just few km from Virpazar. Also this guesthouse is the right choice (cheap accommodatin, great food, nice view). Recommend this place!

Brilliant location and possibly the best value for money placers to stay in Montenegro, which in its self is one of the best value for money countries to visit in Europe. If you like walking/hiking or even biking then this is a superb place to visit. Go on one of the lake boat trips. Also a special thanks to the owners for there help as they spoke excellent English as our Montenegrian (Serb, Croat) was non exsistent.

Initially we were charmed by the elderly couple. We were charged €10 each for dinner which consisted of a lettuce salad, a small amount of preserved fish and eventually a small glass of wine. Breakfast at €5 each was a boiled egg, bread, margarine, spam and jam, coffee. The beds were not comfortable, a single toilet/shower shared by 6 people. We thought that €50 for one night was excessive. We were constantly badgered to give a review of 10 on booking.com.

Response from Drazen K, Owner at Guesthouse Skadar Lake
Responded 7 May 2016
Dear Simon, We were so proud to hosted you, but we are really sad about your review (we did not expect that). You are first of all our guests who was not satisfied with our meals - our dinner worth more then we charge and guests can eat as much as they want (not only one plate). And we offer very delicious dinner (montenegrin speciality), also breakfast was not every day the same...but guests can not stay hungry, never! Also you were not badgered to give us review, we just wanted to commend to you that we have good reviews on booking. Sorry about that if we must say that. Misunderstanding. Our guesthouse has 3 private rooms and one shared bathroom/toilet. Thank you for yor choice and we hope to see you again. Guesthouse Skadar Lake.

Probably one of the best places I have stayed in Montenegro. Amazing views of the lake and mountains. Close enough to Podgoric which in my view is a very underrated city. Very friendly local people. Just a short drive to the beautiful Montenegro coast. I have never met such a great host. He even gave gave us a special BBQ recipe called drunk chicken. I will definately go back again.
