Stayed over Christmas. Awful. Upon arriving the smell of raw sewage is disgusting. The place is very run down. The rooms were never cleaned as the maids never made it to the far ends and always started at the beginning . The pool was closed for days as it was covered in filth. The sun beds were always reserved: from 6 am all day. So unless you wanted an argument with some 30 stone Russian you had no where to sit. The breakfast was always so busy you had to wait for ages to get a table. The quality of the food very very poor. And not catered to anyone from the west. Noodles etc .The evening meals were over priced and dry and burnt. Some big chef chap swanned around with a dirty apron on. He could not cook beans. All extras like ice cream are served in tiny portions and so over priced it's obscene: which is why everything just stands empty. Surin beach itself is awful. Rubbish everywhere, with 1000s of beds that you are forced to rent daily as there is literally no beach left to even place a towel. So many Russians.…
Landed at airport in the late morning and was directed to the pickup point by the resort staff. Was pleasantly surprised by the spacious pick up car and friendly driver. There's two complimentary bottles of mineral water too. Arrived at the resort at 12pm, way before the check-in time of 2pm, and was told by the check-in staff that the room will be ready by 1.15pm. So my family went to nearby restaurant for lunch. Convenient shops and many restaurants on the main road 5mins walk from the resort. Returned to the resort to be told that the room will be ready at 1.30pm instead. Finally managed to check-in at 2pm and was directed to our room. Spacious room with full amenities. Nice view from the balcony. But there could be few areas of improvement. - bed was extremely creeky with every sitting and turning. Not sure if it's a special feature of the bed, but my partner and baby were disturbed by the sound while sleeping - there's only 1 sachet of tea per room. Could have provided more by default. - there's a lot of ants in the bathroom - the dustbin in the toilet do not have a plastic bag although the one in the room have it. There could be some standardisation to have plastic bag in all dustbins. Enjoyed the multiple facilities of the resort. There's a big pool to swim in. Movie screenings, counter for day tours, mini games near the pool for kids. There's also 2 big water slides for older kids. All in all, a good place for family vacation. …
I was travelling with my husband and two adult children and their partners. The hotel was definitely set up more for families with young children, but we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A close walk to the beach, which was idyllic, particularly at sunset, with a great choice of food stalls. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were good and roomy, but the beds were very hard. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, which was delicious, and no problems with overcrowding and constantly topped up food stations & great coffee machines (and lots of them). Plenty of lounges around the pool and great waterslide (I was assured by my children aged 35 and 27). Cocktails in Champions Bar were excellent.
Room was great, plenty of room with two adults two kids 3&1, although the bed was rock hard. Breakfast was good albeit lacking in day to day variety. Pool and slides are great fun. Staff are mostly great. The only issue I had was with the lifeguards at the pool on the day of the foam party. They let the foam get huge, to the point where my daughter (who can swim with a floaty) was trapped in it. I had to jump in to get her, whilst the lifeguards chatted amongst each other. I can't help but watch my kids, so that was lucky, but there are plenty of people who will put faith in the fact that there are lifeguards there. This happened on our last day so it was quite the sour taste left in our mouths. Otherwise it's a good place.
We spent one week at Novotel. My wife arrived one day before and got a room on the 1st floor, just next to the elevator. When she arrived in the room, she noticed a very bad smell. The next day she asked to another room, and fortunately, they gave us a family room with pool access, with a king size bed, plus bunk bed for the kids. First thing, breakfast time. Too many people, you have to wait for a table. Lots of choice but quality and taste not so good. Facilities are ok, like the 24 hours gym but there is only one bike, step and treadmill... There is one pool table, one table tennis and one fusball (they do not have the propers balls to play). Good wifi available everywhere. Staff in general do not care at all, you do not feel as a customer. This is the first time I visited a Novotel and I do not think I will stay again. Plus services are very expensive (ex: it costs 700 THB from the airport to the hotel. If you request the airport transfer, they will charge 2 or 3 times...), drinks and food are also expensive. That's why most of the guests are eating out of the hotel.…
