We were walking the Malerweg and stopped here for a night. The welcome was warm and the room great, just a little small. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Marvellous setting. Like most accommodations, facilities for clothes washing did not seem to exist, which is really important for walkers who carry their own pack.

We were on a family holiday in Rathen, Germany celebrating my mum‘s 75th birthday. One afternoon we went for coffee and cake to Laasenhof. It is a very idyllic place. The waitress ignored us while we were waiting on the terrace to be seated. We were many people and didn’t want to rearrange the furniture without permission. After about ten minutes, she reluctantly came and asked what we wanted. I explained and she told us in a very grumpy way that there were enough empty chairs. She was so rude and started an argument with us. I always thought ‘the customer is king’ but at Laasenhof ‘the customer is a beggar’. She spoilt our whole precious family afternoon.

We loved staying here. It was absolutely beautiful. We were here for a wedding & they didn't disappoint...except for the heat...yes, they might want to invest in air conditioning, but the beautiful pool helped us cool down. The breakfast on the terrace was very nice & the food was delicious. The service was very nice and friendly, the rooms super clean & the view of the Bastei was breathtaking. We even got to head down some steps & make it over the Elbe river w the "rope ferry" to walk up to the Bastei and see the rock pinnacles up close. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The kids made noise in the pool, so if you don't want to hear that you might want a room in...

My wife and I, (Americans), stayed three nights as we were visiting the area for the first time. The hotel physically was in great condition and extremely clean. The couple owning the pension spoke English, while the rest of the staff did not, but everyone was very helpful. The hotel is well located to take advantage of the area's hiking trails and a short downhill walk to the town, the ferry, and train station in the town below. Both the hotel and the restaurant were reasonably priced. The restaurant was excellent and would justify staying here just to take advantage of the meals. The view from the patio was outstanding and added to the experience. I would highly recommend staying in this part of Germany if you want to hike and this hotel as an excellent choice.

We stayed here as an over night stop as part of the Malerweg walking trail and had wished we could stay longer. You get fantastic view of the Bastei, which is a must see in the Saxon Switzerland area, and is in a perfect position to use as a base for walking in the area. The food and service are fantastic and the managers are very helpful and can point you in the right direction for great day walks. We would recommend a stay here and I do not think you would disappointed with your chose.
