The Wyndham Grand Algarve has garnered high marks for its pristine cleanliness and modern, well-appointed facilities. Its relaxing and upscale atmosphere, complete with festive decorations, contributes to a welcoming ambiance.
Nestled in a prime location for beach excursions and regional exploration, the hotel's luxurious rooms—outfitted with kitchen facilities—and comprehensive amenities, including a spa and pool, draw consistent praise. While some guests feel the pricing is steep, the exceptional service and spacious, comfortable accommodations often outweigh concerns about value.

Detailed Reviews
We booked a 2 bedroom apartment, which is a well maintained, sized and equipped unit with 3 separate bathrooms, small kitchen , nice size lounge and tv area .
They supplied coffee/ tea , assortment of biscuits , and some cold drinks - water. These are complimentary on check in but not replaced for free.
The hotel is very well kept , with indoor / out door pools , gyms and other restaurants.
The location is in an upmarket golf suburban area , there are small shopping centers close by. The nearest city is 15 min drive , so one needs to hire a car , to be able to explore the places nearby .
Breakfast is an assortment of cereals , breads , fruit , juices , cheese , cold meats , pastry etc. Eggs are ordered thru the kitchen . My one criticism is they have scrambled eggs in warmers , but on every occasion , they were almost empty and not refilled . I also found that they were left in warmers that are side by side in the same warmer as bacon . To have eggs and meats under one container is wrong , especially with bacon . There are many persons who do not eat bacon , and this should not be stored in such a manner . The strong smell of the bacon gets into the eggs ..
Otherwise , i would recommend this resort

We stayed here previously when it was Monte Do Quinta, and based on that experience, we decided, we wouldn’t return. A friend advised us that the hotel had changed hands, been updated and renamed.
We booked a weeks holiday for Oct 21. The new-look hotel is a million times better than Monta, with a welcoming reception, lovely decor and a refreshed dining area. For anyone wishing to stay in Quinta with kids, the rooms here are ideal. We booked a 2 bedroom room which is spacious, with two large bedrooms and a lounge. There is also a fridge and cooking facilities, which are very handy for lunches.
The location is great for those who wish to walk or get a short Uber to the Shack, Bovino et al.
There are a few downsides though, and I can’t hide away from the fact that there is a lack of sunbeds per hotel guests. This resulted in us looking at alternative sun bathing, and we witnessed number of arguments around the poolside.
Additionally, there is also a lack of service around the pool, which not only reduces their potential income, it also frustrates those looking for a higher level of service.
Breakfast was ok, with a large selection of choice, but the scrambled eggs were pretty poor, more omelette style. All in all, there are only a few choices for families requiring 2 rooms with children, and this certainly fits the bill from a space and location point of view, but for those more discerning visitors, this ain’t no Conrad, but there again, neither is the price tag 😉. Food prices for the pool area and lunch are pretty high though, for what is, standard food. That mini kitchen comes in very handy.

Just returned from a 9 night stay at the Wyndham Grand with Jet2 holidays. Belated 70th celebrations for my wife and myself with the family. 6 adults, 2 toddlers and infant of 7 months. After reports of long queues was a bit concerned about check in etc at LBA but things went very smoothly. Check in was a breeze. Jet 2 staff were great. Best short haul airline by a mile !
Hotel is very impressive, in a lovely location and suites are modern and very spacious. My son and daughter's families had 2 bed suites each with own bathroom and also an additional shower room. My wife and I's room had a large bathroom and separate large shower room. Spent a lot of the time around the pool (which was not too busy) and ordered food from poolside bar/kitchen which was very good. Visited beach and went to the The Shack twice (on the Wednesday and Monday avoiding the loud live music). Went to Tony's at Quinta Shopping a couple of times. Wife and I went to il Vero Italian Bar and Kitchen one night - excellent sea bass, had table on terrace overlooking the golf course. Need taxis to get around - used Uber a few times
Overall found hotel staff very helpful. My grand daughters fan broke on one of the days. I went to reception to see if they could help. They called one of the maintenance guys who fixed it there and then
Only gripe was cost of breakfast at the hotel. Booking was for room only but I paid for breakfast for all of us on the first morning. At 30 euros each for the adults I though this was a bit exorbitant. After that we went to the Pingo Doce supermarkets to stock on breakfast items, to eat in the rooms, but also went to the nearly NAO cafe and Koko cafe a couple of times
Would definitely consider returning to the Wyndham again in the future. Possibly to go with friends and take the golf clubs. OK you are not going to see the authentic Portugal at this luxury resort but for a chill out family holiday, with great weather and excellent very spacious accommodation it ticked a lot of boxes

I stayed one night and was impressed by the size of the suite which had a well equipped kitchen, shower room and bathroom and a good sized bedroom with a very comfortable bed. Vast selection at breakfast buffet. Indoor pool and spa area were relaxing and my massage was great (and especially good when discounted thanks to the international women's week discount).
The staff were friendly and helpful.
It was also good value. Booking direct meant we got breakfast included.
I'd definitely return if in the area.

We were in a two bedroom sunrise suite, which was very impressively designed, spacious and clean. This type of room is a great option for e.g. people with older kids who have grown out of sofa beds and want their own space, as it's cheaper and less risky than getting two separate rooms. The three separate bathrooms were also very handy when getting ready to go out.
The indoor pool, spa and gym (all for ages 16+ only) were all very enjoyable to use, and were particularly useful on the one rainy day we had. Another bonus was that despite the hotel seeming to be pretty much full, none of these facilities were overcrowded, nor was the main outdoor pool.
Location was good, fairly central within Quinta do Lago. It was a pleasant 20-25min walk to the beach (apparently there's a shuttle in high season). The lake was about a 10-15min walk away, and there were plenty of good restaurants within easy walking distance. The shopping centre and its surrounding restaurants were a bit too far to walk, but you could easily get an Uber there for around 4euros, which we did on several occasions.
The breakfast buffet (which admittedly got a little busy around 9am) was excellent, with a wide and high quality selection. The waiting staff were always able to find us a table straight away, and were impressively quick to provide any requested hot drinks and to clear used plates.
Which brings me to the service more generally. I have stayed in many hotels of all types over the years, but I can't remember a better level of service than I experienced here. Without exception, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to go the extra mile and proactively finding out whether they could do anything to make our stay more enjoyable.

Having stayed at Quinta do Lago a few times before in villas we were looking forward to staying in a hotel after looking at pictures and reviews online..
The stay did not disappoint! From arrival with luggage assistance right to our room, refreshing welcome drinks to the constant exceptional level of customer service throughout our stay we knew the hotel was going to provide luxury throughout.
Small touches like the staff remembering your room number each morning or just generally greeting you really make you feel like they are happy to have you stay with them at the hotel and gives a personal touch. The facilities are extremely clean and staff are constantly cleaning from housekeeping to round the poolside.
We found the breakfast to be fantastic.. so much choice and the standard of food is great, food is always replenished and fresh! The hot food selection is good and the chefs cater to your preference of cooking for eggs or omelettes.
We made use of the poolside bar and the sangria was delicious, we opted for a jug to share between 5 adults and there was plenty to go around! So seemed great value for money. We found the food to be fairly pricey but we expected this from the standard of the hotel.
Great location in walking distance to the beach around 20 minutes, or a little less to the nearby lake.. we ate out at a few nearby restaurants which was ideal being walking distance to the hotel with a little one year old.
We found the poolside to be busy at times and sun beds get reserved fairly early on after breakfast time, the hotel provide towels so the attendants do go round regularly clearing towels that are no longer in use which we found to be efficient and we had no problem getting sun beds together throughout our 10 day stay.
Our only minor criticism was that we planned to eat in the apartment a few evenings and we didn’t have some basic cooking utensils such as chopping boards, water or tumbler glasses or colander for draining water but we managed without in the end.
Overall we have had a fantastic holiday at the Wyndham and we look forward to returning as soon as we can!

The 2 bed suites are great for families with 3 kids. Great layouts with a small kitchen and dining table to allow cooking. Great location for getting about in Quinta and the area too. That’s where it ends though.
Property has been recently refurbished, but you can see where corners have been cut. Fixtures and fittings while nice and shiny, feel cheap, or haven’t been fitted properly (especially in bathrooms). Pool hasn’t been touched and feels tired and worn. It wasn’t cleaned well while we were there too, with glitter floating in it for the last 4 days of our stay. Never saw a life guard once, but witnessed a number of close calls with children encountering difficulties.
There are definitely not enough sun beds for the number of guests, and very over crowded in the actual pool.
After the first 3 nights we had not not managed to get a turndown or or even the basics like, replacement towels. Guest relations openly admit they are having laundry problems, and a shortage of housekeeping staff. In total we had 2 turndowns in 8 nights. On the last morning we realised they had taken the used towels but not replaced them, so 2 adults and 3 kids had to share one large towel, and a couple of small ones before the dash to the airport.
The majority of the waiters and service staff seem to be demoralised, disengaged, undertrained. There is a distinct lack of leadership and training in place. Empty glasses and plates left round the pool for hours causing birds to invade the beds.

Dear Mr. Jon Newall, it is crucial for us to learn from your and other Celebrities feedback and we generously would like to thank you for that. We are happy you enjoyed our refurbished Suites so much. It is indeed a future topic / wish to extend our Outdoor Pool facilities as this area is very much appreciated by Celebrities; however, our trained guards / pool attendants are trying to fulfil each Celebrities needs as much as possible. Indeed we couldn´t do every evening your turndown service, how much we wanted, as the "Do Not Disturb" sign was placed, which as per policy, we will not disturb the Suite. Dear Mr. Jon Newall, we hope you and your family enjoyed overall and we are looking forward to welcome you soon again. Best regards, Maarten de Boer and Team General Manager

This hotel is not 5 star!
Pool beds are ridiculous, not one day have been able to get beds as a family together. We have looked for over an hour to be told by pool boy, “there are no free beds” even though there are more than half of the beds empty with towels on them all day but no one appears to use them.
The staff are very unfriendly at times both reception, restaurants and even in the corridors and do not even give a simple “good morning” or “hello”.
The food at breakfast and lunch is good however again the service is a major let down after being told several different prices for breakfast they decided to charge us a higher price than agreed.
There is absolutely no nightlife or atmosphere, we return from dinner and the hotel is empty and quiet. When I’m the bar there isn’t even any ambient music playing, it is just silence, so naturally we didn’t hang around there too long.
When talking to the bar supervisor last night he explained he wanted to do a lot of things like live music etc but got shot down by management when he asked.
A lot of work needed to make this anywhere near their star rating.

Dear Paul, we apologize if we didn´t met your expectations. Recently the number of sunbeds and umbrellas have been doubled. Extra new ones arrived, we feel sorry how you possibly couldn´t enjoy these. Thank you for awarding our Breakfast buffets en lunch outlets. In our Grand Lounge Bar and Dourado Restaurant we have live Music three evenings per week; a pity you couldn´t enjoy these music evenings and missed them. Firstly I should state that given the circumstances with Covid-19 it is understandable that things might be different and I fully understand why the spa and jacuzzi were closed. However when you are paying full price for a five star hotel experience you expect that the price might be reduced or that they would give you a free dinner or something to make up for it. One free drink token was all that was given and it had to be a specific drink. That was poor but I could get over it. The tap in my bathroom didn’t work, the pool bar was closed and there was no service to the beds at the pool so you had to walk into the restaurant to ask for a drink to be brought to you and they made you feel like you had terribly inconvenienced them every time apart from one young waiter who was very nice. We had also paid for a room with a view of the pool but didn’t have we had a view of a tree. All in all it was a terrible experience and I would never go back.

Dear HSLC17,
Thank you very much for your contact.
Please note that the hotel does not have an outdoor heated pool. However, we are pleased to inform you that our SPA circuit includes a heated pool, which is an adults-only area designed for relaxation and tranquility.
We are at your service for any further assistance.
Kind Regards,
Joana Silva
Sunset side is worse as you're looking at the parking lot. Sunrise side is overlooking the pool. The hotel has an unfortunate positioning because the pool will be in the shade by 4 pm or so, as the sun moves over to the sunset side.
