I had the other reviews and had actually been recommended this b&b by a work colleague. I was not disappointed. The whole B&B is all about the owners in that they are genuinely warm and welcoming. So helpful with showing us where to go for days out and generally lots of other information. The room was lovely and comfortable with plenty of storage and everything you needed. Maureen and John had added lovely touches like some basic toiletries in the ensuite and a lovely bottle of wine on arrival. The house itself is lovely.

I cannot fault our trip and would recommend it whole heartedly. If you want a wonderful base in a beautiful region then make sure you add this B&B to your list. Will def be visiting again,

Maureen's cooking was amazing and we had wonderful breakfasts each day including fresh eggs from their own chickens.

We stayed for three nights. Actually we had planned to stay for one but in the middle of our trip south to Andorra we decided to call and reserve another two nights. We had really liked the experience, so much that we extended our trip by two nights.

First, the location is excelent, surrounded by vineyards and just a five minute drive from Limoux. The room we had the first night was the jasmine suite, which was marvelous. Everything was impecably designed with a comfortable double bed and a spacious, modern bathroom. Every attention has been paid to the smallest detail. The amenities included writing paper with pens, slippers (the first time for me), shampoos, creams, face wipes, skin moistener, a razor, shaving cream, toothpast, toothbrush, a sewing kit, and even sunblock cream. There were many other items that I didn't take note of. I think there must have been over five creams of all uses.

There is a flat screen TV, which gets Sky Television and little elese. If you are an English speaker this is great, but I later wondered what the French would think of this. I believe most of the guests are non-French though I did not ask the hosts about this.

There is a communal kitchen with a microwave, fridge, sink, and small oven. We had light dinners on two nights by buying food at the local supermarket and preparing it here. We could keep our food in the fridge during the three days we were there.

There is a large outdoor área with a pool, which looked inviting, but we did not go in.

Downstairs there is a large living room, which guests could use, but usually prefer to stay in their rooms with their own TV.

Now for the breakfast, and this is the high point of the experience. It is truly a gourmet breakfast, fit for kings. Every day is diferent, but we had jams, homemade black bread, fruit bread, pancakes with maple syrup, homemade yogurt with berries, freshly squeezed orange juice, gourmet style croissants. There are several types of cereals and an original (for me) wet muesli. In short, there was so much food, and I mean good food, that you felt bad in not being able to try all of it.

Maureen and John are great hosts. They leave you alone and are there when you need them.

If there is anything less than stellar about the place I would say that if you want to practice your French (not being French of course) you might not have any chance here. For the three days we spent here we did not speak a word since all the guests were English speakers. But for those who can't say a word in the language it might be a blessing. In our case we came to France to speak French in an immersion situation so we did miss the contact with the language.

The other minor detail might be the inability to pay with anything other than cash. I understand how small businesses try to stay away from the credit card world due to high commissions, but having to always get large amounts of cash in the town can sometimes be less than practical, especially if you are going to stay for more than one night. Many banks only let you take out 80 euros at a time from the ATM so you have to have several cards or do different withdrawals to beat the system.

We had a 10 day stay at this lovely place. John & Maureen couldn't have done more to make us feel at home. Our room was charming, spacious and comfortable and we made good use of the guest kitchen which is a great bonus if you want to do some self catering. We had the swimming pool to ourselves for most of our stay and thoroughly enjoyed using it for swimming and sun bathing. The views from the house are amazing, the snow topped pyrenees can be seen in the distance with endless vineyards in the foreground. Limoux is a pleasant town with plenty of good restaurants in the central square. Plenty of Cathar castles to visit and pretty towns especially Mirepoix. It really is a place to stay for a holiday rather than just passing through.

Four friends and I have just returned from a week at the fabulous Domaine St George on the outskirts of Limoux. We went to find subjects to paint and the glorious countryside, majestic mountains and beautiful, unspoiled villages in the area did not disappoint. Our hosts, John and Maureen Taylor did all they could to help us make the most of our stay at their beautiful B&B. The views from the property itself were stunning, but during the week, we visited many places including Alet-les-Bains, the abbey of St Hilaire, Carcassone, the antiques fair at Mirepoix, the weekly market at Bram, the fragrant Rose festival at Camon. The property itself is beautifully appointed and maintained, with every consideration made for guest comfort - from Egyptian cotton bed linen and complimentary toiletries, wine and water in the room to tea and coffee making, hair dryers and a guest kitchen. And other visitors have mentioned the breakfasts - we had 7 and every single one was different, abundant and delicious - Maureen's passion for cooking and baking was a daily delight. For the Taylor's it's not just a business - they take justifiable pride in ensuring guest comfort, helping you to make the most of your stay and delivering exceptional value for money.

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights in early november so out of season well what ever I say will not do Domaine St George justice or the amazing couple who own it. It is total out of this world the rooms are decorate to an amazing standard, the breakfast with the fresh eggs and bread are fantastic that is if you can make a choice with all that is offered. Domaine St George has everything you could want and more pool, private areas to sit etc to much to list.

We spent a week at Domaine St George and what a stay it was! From the moment we arrived we were treated as very special guests - invited immediately to share a glass of wine with John and Maureen on the terrace and shown to our beautifully decorated and equipped room. Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble - Maureen even lent us their cagoules when rain threatened. The whole area is exquisite - so many beautiful places to discover and in May all the little mountain roads are bordered by wonderful wild flowers. Breakfast each day was superb - so much choice and always a special dish of fruits, yogurt or cooked dishes. There were normally six guests, of different nationalities, at breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing their stories, discussing hot topics and laughing together. We tended to eat in restaurants at lunchtime so the guest kitchen was a boon for preparing a light evening snack. I honestly cannot think of any way in which John and Maureen could improve their hospitality - they are the perfect hosts in an idyllic setting. Thank you for such a great time.

As usual we were guided by the reviews received on this site and with the odd (odd being the operative word , more of this below) exception, Maureen and Johns Domaine St George quite rightly receive universal praise.
This haven of peace and tranquillity is set in a lovely rural area just 2 km max from Limoux ,
Our room was spacious , tastefully decorated , a very comfortable bed, lovely furnishings and a view over trees into the vineyard next door, Idyllic
I have read in previous reviews that breakfast was too English , I can assure the travellers that wrote these reviews have not had a typical English breakfast !!! , the breakfasts which offered croissants , fresh breads , fresh fruits , yoghurts ,freshly baked scones ,eggs ,meat and if this selection is not enough Maureen also offers you, if you wish the Gallettes, Omelettes, etc the important word here is choice, you can eat as much and or as little as you like and as for the breakfast being typically English, this is the most bizarre comment I have read on Tripadvisor .
John and Maureen proved to be exceptional hosts from the minute we arrived when we were warmly welcomed, and throughout our visit which (we extended while we were here) their attention to ensuring that we gained the maximum enjoyment from our visit was yet another addition to a nigh on perfect holiday
So in conclusion a the Domaine St George is a stunning BB that exceeds all expectations

This chambre d'hote gives you a five star experience and is a perfect location to explore Limoux, Carcassonne and the surrounding area. Our hosts, John and Maureen have thought of every comfort for their guests. The house and rooms are decorated in exquisite taste and the varied breakfast menu provides a sumptuous start to every day. There is also a relaxing patio area with a heated swiming pool. Guests are also provided with a fully fitted kitchen where they can prepare and cook their own meals. In other words "perfect in every way".

We were only going to stay one night but the beautiful setting and the charm of our host made us change our minds and stay longer. Domaine St George is just south of Limoux (about 2km) set amongst vineyards and has picture postcard views and is set back from the road so it is very quiet. The house is lovely and feels warm and cosy.
It is an ideal base to tour the area and is only 1/2 hour from Carcassonne.
John looked after us very well and we immediately felt very comfortable and at home.
Breakfast was substantial and of the very best quality. We only wish we could have stayed longer.
A stay here represents outstanding value for money and was one of the high points of our holiday.
