Built in 1501, the house was initially a convent, and then the private residence of the Souvigny family, relatives of the Countess du Barry , before finally becoming a noted hotel of its time at the end of the 19th century . Frescoes from the 17th century, a preserved stained glass panel and a remarkable stair case, remain the highlights of the building. Today the hotel offers 13 rooms and suites, complete with TV, free Wifi, mini bar, air conditioning and marble bathrooms. To discover also our Gourmet Restaurant Tantine et Tonton with service on the patio, weather and season permitting.

Superb location. Historic building in the heart of a charming town.
'Junior Suite' was a very generous sized room and it was a pleasure to return to it after trips exploring the area.
We went at a quiet time so the hotel had a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The staff team were pleasant but unobtrusive.
Breakfast was plentiful.

Nice hotel close to main square. Good large room with plenty of room to lay out two suitcases. Room had two double beds. Mini bar fridge in room but no kettle. Had a aircon thermostat but very poor delivery of cool air. Double windows that opened out to allow for fresh air. Good free WIFI. Secure holding shed for bicycles. Had quite a good meal in the hotel restaurant. Disappointing to receive a bill for 5 Euros to have water with our meal. Fair enough to pay for our glasses of wine ~but to pay for water as well is a bit over the top. Arrived in town on a midweek public holiday. No stores open ~ensure you take note of the pin number for the front door as the hotel is also locked up during the afternoon.

Dear grstoward, Thank you for taking the time to post your review of the Logis hotel Moderne et Pigeon. While it is a pleasure to know that you enjoyed our interiors, we are sorry to hear that some elements of your stay did not meet your expectations. We fully understand you were surprised to find mostly closed on a ‘midweek public holiday’. It was the long weekend of the 15th of August, when everybody is on holidays and therefore, most of France is closed. You were surprised to be charged for the water in the restaurant. We are sorry, our staff did not clearly explain that we use filtered water rather than bottles of mineral water. These may look like tap water, but are not. Of course, tap water is also available, free of charge... We very much appreciate your comments and have shared them with the service team in order to avoid this happens again. We hope that we will have the pleasure to welcoming you again when we may have the opportunity to restore your faith in the Moderne et Pigeon.

We love Limoux and visit the area often - for this this vacation we were spending most of our time on the coast but stayed here one night each way. The hotel is the best in Limoux and in an ideal location - just round the corner from the main square which is incredibly picturesque and full of good restaurants and events like bands or markets on summer evenings. It has a great gastronomic restaurant (though we have before
and it's amazing quality and value).

The hotel has certainly improved since our last visit - service has always been great but a lot of the little technical niggles have been sorted. Wifi was pretty fast and reliable, the aircon worked great despite the very high temperature outside. The biggest improvement is the breakfast was massively improved since last time in terms of quality and ease of use, obviously a lot of thought has gone into it and the outside dining space in very beautiful (sort of a cloister). There were a lot of happy breakfasters. Will definitely stay again.

What a total disaster this so called "hotel". The rooms are in urgent need of total renovation but please start with new beds, linens and pillows. We did not/could not sleep because of the horrible mattress and pillows. No extra toilet roll in the bathroom! Why? Breakfast is OK, nothing special. The place looks runs down, clean up!
We got a lecture about wearing a face mask BUT no one did! We had to use the public bathroom in the cellar (as there was no toiletpaper in the room) and I would not advice anyone to go down there.....you are not alone....

Reminded me of my first visits to France in the early Seventies, you were not sure if you were really welcome!
Notice on the minibar stated that any food left in there(other than personal medication)would be binned.
Parking squeezed into the back yard was difficult and expensive.
Very sombre atmosphere,as stated ,
very old fashioned.

Dear Client, We are sorry to hear that you did not appreciate the atmosphere of this former convent with its 'old fashion' decoration and the small parking in our yard. We agree, it is different ..we are in a protected historical building of the 16th century, in the city center. Atmosphere and decoration are different from new modern buildings. But about one thing we can rassure you : all our guests are really welcome and we all try to make their stay as enjoyable as possible. Even if we think minibars are in the rooms for drinks...

We only spent a night here but were pleasantly surprised by the service and staff. Unfortunately there was no elevator to help us with our luggage. The room was clean and pleasant, and we had a great night's sleep. The location was convenient, adjacent to the main square. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We would loved to stay longer but we were on the move. Limoux is a pleasant town to visit.

We stayed in a family room (no. 10) which was very nice indeed. The small room for kids was cosy and the large room was comfortable. The bed area and sitting area could be divided by a curtain, if necessary. The bathroom was large and well-equipped. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The room was at the back of the hotel on the second floor and was very quiet. The hotel doesn't have a lift.

However, the wifi was hopeless and simply didn't work. The table and chairs are a weird choice. The chairs were really heavy and the glass topped table took up a lot of space. A couple of armchairs or a sofa would be much better. Poor water pressure made the shower a bit of a dribble!

A great location for the town and beyond.

The hotel is generally well-kept and clean, but the fixtures and fittings in the room and bathroom are very dated. When we came down for breakfast we were the only people there and eventually a cleaner alerted staff that we might want some coffee to accompany the rather tired-looking pastries nearby. It wasn't late (8.30 am). We experienced this rigmarole with minor variations both mornings. Internet access is clunky and unreliable.

Very friendly receptionist, Paula, who was extremely helpfull and well informed and spoke excellent English. Wonderful location just off the central square which had lots of cafes and restaurants. Very comfortable spacious room with air conditioning. All staff in the hotel were friendly and helpfull at all times. Although the hotel does not have its own parking we were always able to park directly outside the hotel. Would defininately return to this hotel again.

We stayed for one night in June and it was lovely. New owners are friendly and welcoming. We stayed in room 11 on the second floor (no lift) which was really large with a comfortable king bed. Despite the 'feria' in town we didn't hear a thing - very quiet room indeed overlooking the hotel courtyard.

Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic - five course tasting menu with wine - and service was great too.

A couple of small things - hairdryer was rubbish and there is a hand held shower but no means of attaching the shower head to the wall to have a proper shower. Breakfast felt a bit meagre (although was replenished whilst we were eating) especially after the great meal the night before.

We liked it so much we're going again later in the year.

Does this hotel have parking facilities?
Answer from castaing s

We have some parking spots in our courtyard which is used in summer as terrace for our restaurant Tantine et Tonton. For that reason private parking is possible only when no service on our patio or, with access after the service. Kind regards
