We stayed at Hotel Romantica in July 2018 three adults (parents and our daughter age 19) The hotel isa very friendly place to stay and the staff are always ready to give you advice regarding what to see, where to go etc. We felt that were taken good care of from start to end and especially Voula (the owner) who was almost always at the reception area, took good care of us. We were lucky to have a room at the corner, so we had a perfect view to both the ocean and the street Georgioupoli is a small and very cozy town and even though there are a lot of tourists it has not ended up with just souvenir shops and you are not getting hassled when you walk around. Romantica Hotel is located in one end of the town but since the town is fairly small it will only take 5 minutes to walk to the center of town. The beach is only a short walk away and there are shopping possibilities and restaurants just around the corner. The hotel pool is fairly small but it seemed like that was the case for most hotels in the town. There was not bar or restaurant (except breakfast restaurant) in connection with the hotel bur that was not a problem since everything is close. We will recommend this hotel to everybody who do not need the big luxurious experience but are more in for the family-hospitality which you will definitely get here.

My wife and I stayed here from 31st May till 12th June, 2018. Basic room, a bit tired and much in need of refurbishment. Mattresses extremely hard. Plug socket a bit loose. Annoyingly, it isn’t made clear that air conditioning is not included in price quoted and we were charged an additional 6 Euros per night for this. Shower a bit of a nightmare with mixer tap! Shower cubicle small, screen tends to stick to you and water escapes out onto floor, making it very slippery. Attractive pool, but there must have been a problems with the drains while we were there as it was a bit smelly and on occasions sitting by the pool wasn’t a pleasant experience.

We booked in here at the very last minute after the place we were staying in had geese right outside and kept us awake all night! The staff couldn't do enough for us showing us a room that was about to be cleaned as the only other room available was in the ground floor and offered us the better room. It was available within the hour and it was perfect for our needs. A clean bathroom, separate eating area/ extra bed and a lovely quiet comfy huge bed in the bedroom. And a balcony. Everything was immaculately clean. We didn't eat there but spent a couple hours each day by the pool. It's a little small so you won't be doing lengths! But ok for a quick dunk when you get too hot. Again the staff were brilliant when we wanted a late check out and so friendly even joking about the geese at the other place! As we have friends who live out there I think we have found our hotel of choice for when we visit the next time!

We just came back from a lovely 2 week vacation, staying at Hotel Romantica. Our apartment was very clean and comfortable for a family of 4. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Our flight was delayed and we only arrived at 3am the Sat morning. There was someone waiting for us, very friendly and helpful at that time of the morning. The pool area is very nice and clean, although I found it a bit small for the amount of guests but then the beach was quite close. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is very close to everything you need. A lovely stay, we didn't want to go home.

My sister and I stayed here in June. We loved this hotel. There are three buildings, we were in the second on the 3rd floor .Our apartment was very spacious and the room with the kitchen had a single bed and there was a double bedroom. This was perfect for us as my sister had damaged her arm a couple of weeks before so she needed a bed of her own with plenty of room as she needed a stack of pillows to rest her arm on. Each room had a balcony, one overlooking the pool. The rooms were basic like most Greek Hotels but spotless as was all of the hotel. The Continental breakfast was very good, couldn't fault it. The staff were all wonderful, especially Voulas. The only downside was that the pool is small so you could only get about 10-12 people round it. We were very lucky as while we were there most people went to the beach or on trips so we always got beds (no-one left towels on ) The beach is about 5 minutes walk away, if that, although on the map it looks a lot farther. The main street is literally at the end of the block. It has plenty of shops and restaurants and is only minutes from the main square. We are hoping to go back next year and to stay there again, hopefully the same type of apartment but on the second floor as my legs aren't what they used to be. Loved it. Wish we were going back in September.

We had a lovely holiday here. It is well placed, near the square, many tavernas, shops and the beaches. The rooms are comfortable. We were on the 2nd floor and had 2 balconies - one for drying beach gear and one for eating from. Both had pool and mountain views, which were stunning. We were given a choice of rooms on arrival which was nice. We prepared lunches and basic meals some days and the kitchenette was handy for breakfast too. We didn't eat at the hotel part for breakfast at all, prefer to eat at our leisure. The rooms were fine, quite basic, but the TV and phone were fine. There was no decor which was a shame. The standard of cleaning was very good. All staff were very hard working and helpful.

These apartments are typically Greek, run really well by the very friendly owner and very good value. They are close to the main square and the beach but our apartment was blissfully quiet and suited us very well, a couple with 2 sons, 18 and 20. The buffet breakfast varied daily, was plentiful and replenished regularly. The boys said the wifi was good, both in the apartment and in the breakfast area. The only reason I haven't given five stars is because the pool area is quite small with not much room for sunbeds, but having said that we were able to get sunbeds whenever we wanted as most people seem to go to the beach.

Positives The staff were lovely. The breakfast was superb. Something for everyone. Quiet Pool was clean quite deep (this suited my teens, as they loved diving) sadly shady at times. Not that you can change that. No bar. But a great shop round the corner. So buy your own drinks and take them to the pool. Good wi fi Negatives The door was broken on our arrival and fixed on the same day. So no complaints there. Our apartment was clean and basic. They usually are in my experience. No sharp knives which is pretty much standard in most apartments as far as I can tell. All the ground floor apartments flooded (pool water) two days on the trot while we stayed. There had been a power cut and this stopped the pool pump working. Which meant the water backed up. This was clearly out of control of the hotel owners and they fitted generator to the roof while we stayed and I presume this fixed the problem. It did smell a bit damp, staff let us have free air con to try to dry the room. Staff apologised and cleaned our rooms. No damage to our stuff. Just inconvenient. We were also offered a free week stay out of season, which was kind. Overall not amazing, but good. Staff are great and trying very hard and that was appreciated.

Recently returned from a week here. Firstly the positives: All the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful and did their best to help us when needed. The reception area is clean, cool and comfortable. The location is great for proximity to tavernas, supermarket, restaurants etc. We had lots of lovely meals out and had good value food in a variety of places and sampled a few different Greek specialities. The downside: Our first room smelled of sewage/really bad drains and the bathroom kept filling up with cigarette smoke (presumably from another apartment). We reported this straight away and were told someone would look at it in the morning. The smell kept us up during the night. The next day we found that the bathroom door had locked itself and we couldn't get in. Went back to reception and reported this and mentioned the smell again. The girl on reception was very sympathetic and said she would speak to the manager about moving rooms. Someone did come fairly quickly to unlock the door but then we spent the rest of the morning waiting in reception for something to be sorted. We were given another room and packed up and moved, but had lost half a day of our holiday by now. Our new room was nicer - lighter, airier, no smell - but we now had twin beds instead of a double - not ideal for a romantic break! Also - this place is wrongly titled as a hotel. The rooms are sort of set up as self catering apartments. There is a small kitchenette with a fridge (very useful) two electric rings (very dangerous - no on/off light, dial no markings so no way of setting temperature and plug was directly above a ring so you had to burn your hand to unplug/turn off), minimal crockery/pans (not even one of everything for both of us) and no means of cleaning the things you'd used. Hidden costs - breakfast is an extra €7 each a day. The buffet breakfast looked nice enough and seating area near pool is pleasant. Far better to cross the road and get bacon, eggs, crepes, fresh pastries from one of the many places nearby for half this amount. Air con is an extra €6 a day - this was not made clear before (or after) booking. In a place this hot you would expect that to be standard. It was effective though and very welcome so worth paying for. Technology: the wi-fi is free but was too weak to reach to our apartment. The TV in the first apartment only had 2 functional channels and the second apartment had no remote. However, we weren't fussed about this as had come away to enjoy the sun not watch TV. Information in room tells you how to use the phone to call reception/other rooms/outside line, but there are no phones in the rooms. The pool: clean but VERY small great for a couple of kids to play in but no more. Loungers around pool were often available but as you are right next to a road you feel a bit conspicuous sunbathing! The local beaches are a short walk but they are small strips and mostly stones. Sea is fairly rough in this area - great waves for body boarding but hazardous for swimming! Summary: Friendly and helpful staff Not as cheap as it appears once you've paid for air con and food Apartments not a hotel Handy location for tavernas and supermarket

The hotel is great for it's price! We had a rental car so the location was ok for us. We drove to Rethymnon in 25 min. It is not far from the square in Gerogiopouli and also not far from the sea there either. The pool is perfect for a family with children but I wish they would have a shower or at least somewhere to wash the feet before entering the pool when coming from the beach. The room was ok and we could prepare breakfast but not a full dinner. Cleaning is ok except the floors when we arrived. They cleaned it properly the day after though on request! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice place in general!
