We stayed 3 nights in a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment in this lovely little hotel run by Daniel and his wife. It was one of the highlights of our vacation to Italy and Germany and we wish we could have stayed longer. Ciasa Sunara combines the charm and personal touch of a small, family-run European hotel with modern design and amenities not usually found in a such establishments.

The hotel is only a few years old and thus well-equipped for the modern traveler: huge well-designed rooms with spectacular views, lots of storage space, good lighting, loads of outlets for charging electronics, fast and reliable internet, secure underground parking, and a highly functional kitchen made our stay exceptionally comfortable.

There was obviously a lot of attention to detail that went into the design of the hotel. Our room had a very large foyer with built-in shelving, coat hooks and a large closet for storage of coats, backpacks/hiking equipment, shoes and purses. This eliminated a lot of the clutter that usually accumulates on nightstands, tables and beds. The foyer also had a motion detect light that came on automatically when you entered - a nice touch.

The main bathroom is to the right and had lots of room to maneuver and a shower big enough for my 6' 5" husband. There is a big shelving area under the sink, a bidet and separate heating system so you could keep the bath warmer than the rest of the apartment. (The apartment's heating control is in the foyer.) The powder room was a reasonable size. Both rooms were vented and had openable windows with obscure glass for privacy.

Both bedrooms also opened into the foyer. They both had beautiful views of the mountains, a private balcony with a table and chair to enjoy the view, a large closet with shelving and ample room to hang clothing and televisions. Large pillows and comforters with quality linens on newer beds made for a great night's sleep. There are also sheer drapes and room darkening shades as well as exterior metal blinds for even more darkness.

The main living area had a comfortable couch with a television and even more storage space, a dining area and a kitchen with picture-perfect views of the mountains. The built-in dining area could probably seat 8 people comfortably around the large table. The kitchen was very well-equipped with quality cookware, glassware and silverware.

The room was also very quiet. We could not hear the guests next door.

There is a laundry room downstairs with detergent, and laundry baskets and drying racks that could be taken up to our room. There is a very reasonable 3 euro charge per load.

Colfosco wasn't our first choice as a place to stay in the Dolomites, but we are so glad we ended up there, especially after driving through some of the other, larger towns. Colfosco feels like a community, not just a tourist town. People were exceptionally friendly, polite and helpful. There was great hiking a stone's throw from the hotel. We didn't have any trouble finding bank machines, restaraunts, or grocery stores in Colfosco. It was a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk to Corvara for even more places to eat and shop.

Travelers looking for a lovely, peaceful, comfortable place to stay will find it at Ciasa Sunara in Colfosco.

Family run and they really did go the extra, ensuring that we were well looked after and happy throughout our week's stay.
I will definitely consider returning here for summer and winter holidays. Colfosco itself is smaller than Corvara and is a charming place. It seems to run on Italian flair and German efficiency, much like Sunara.

Really well equipped apartment in great location for local and spectacular hikes. We were here as a couple on a walking trip and although it was off OFF season, we got a warm welcome at Ciasa Sunara from Daniel, Valentina and Claudia. Anything we wanted was priovided for and although there had been recent snowfall in early May, we had some lovely walks in the area. Small supermarket open in walking distance and only retsauarant at this time of year that was open was Stria on La Val which we would highly recommend for gourmet local dishes :)

Stayed for one week in june for mountain hiking.
One of best apartments when I stayed. Quite place away from main road. Colfosco center- restaurants and shops are on walking distance. Apartments owners was welcome as very lovely and warm. Apartments are very good equiped and very nice interiour.
Best place to by food was on Spar in La Villa. In Colfosco are some small food shops only.
Apartments are very good for hiking. Some hiking tracks are starting very close to apartments. Summer time working gondola are not very far from apartaments- on other side from village.
From Colfosco are many destinations for good hiking with different difficulty levels.
I want return at Colfosco in summer or winter and I want stay exactly at these apartments.

The appartments are spacious, new and modern, and yet country-style decorated, and very quiet. We felt like home here. The windows have blinds, so you can sleep very well, in absolute dark. The owners are very nice and helpful. The towels, linen and final cleaning are included in the price, and the towels are changed every 2-3 days.
Minuses: no micro-wave or oven in the kitchen, only electric stove. The internet connection stops at every 15 min, so you have to re-enter the pasword often.
