Detailed Reviews
My wife and I and another couple stayed here on our motorcycle tour in September. El Hoyas is situated in a beautiful rural area surrounded by mountains and lush countryside. The hotel is typical of a small family run posada with a homely feel and a collection of geese, chickens and a very friendly dog, who I think is called Leila. The owners, Oscar and Carmen are delightful, nothing is too much trouble and they speak far better English than my appalling Spanish, so we managed to communicate. We had a large comfortable room at the top of the house that included a large enclosed balcony, which proved very useful for storing the bike kit and drying washing. In addition, the were two childrenās beds set in the eaves behind a curtain, a sofa bed in the main area and an en-suite shower room. The hotel has its own pool, which provided a welcome relief after a hot dayās ride and had sun loungers on the terrace with a covered loggia to retreat from the full sun. The restaurant is excellent with generous portions of beautifully homemade local dishes. We can highly recommended the green beans with Iberico ham and garlic to start and the huge wood fired grilled T-bone steak is the best I have ever had, so much so that Rob and I had it two nights on the trot. The prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food and wine. breakfast consisted of a well laden bread basket with tomato and olive oil or apricot jam, washed down with fresh orange juice and good coffee. If you stay here you do need transport, as is too be expected, apart from the beautiful walks there is not much else in the immediate area. The beautiful historic town of Potes is approximately 14km and is well worth a visit, we had a day off the bikes and caught a taxi, kindly arranged by Oscar, which was 20 euros each way. Thank you so much to Oscar, Carmen and their team for making our stay so enjoyable.

Beautiful, rural location but only 10 minutes drive from Potes and 40 minutes from Fuente De Cable Car. A warm welcome from our hosts who were very helpful and accommodating during our short stay despite some translation issues due to our appalling Spanish but nothing that Google translate couldnāt sort! Our first floor room with balcony and mountain view was spacious, clean and sufficiently comfortable. Wonderful to listen to the amazing dawn and dusk chorus from the balcony. Swimming pool looked very inviting but unfortunately it was still very early in the season so had not had chance to warm up. Our dinner in the restaurant both nights was very good with a decent food & wine menu and breakfast also enjoyable. The large private parking area was great too especially as given the quiet, peaceful location you will need transport. A very relaxing, enjoyable and peaceful stay.

My partner and I stayed in Room 10 for 5 nights as part of our motorcycle trip to the Picos and Cantabrian Mountains. What a superb find, would not hesitate to book and stay again. We arrived around 8pm from the Brittany Ferry Santander. Pleasant and friendly arrival and checked into a spotless Room 10. I've seen other reviews stating small rooms, OK so not the largest but completely adequate and acceptable and freshly refurbished and spotlessly clean and well maintained. Good comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. We decided to eat at the Posada on day 1 as we'd just arrived and didn't fancy a ride of 10km back into Potes. Well what a great call. A superb menu, lots of choice and delicious food. I'm a foodie and picky. They use really good raw ingredients and they treat them with respect. I'll post some photos. We found the food so good that we ended up eating there 5 times. We had superb local red wine (Angel) and ate 2/3 courses for 2 each night including the Filet Steak which was delicious and amongst the best quality meat and cooking I can recall for many months. Total restaurant bill was ā¬350 for 5 nights dinner and drinks for 2. Amazing. Only real single downside for us was that we both love good coffee in the morning and first breakfast the lady on duty could not offer coffees from the machine, only some form of filter coffee which we found very poor. So following days we decided to ride out early and find a cafe for coffee. Great location for touring. 10km outside Potes so you'll need to ride in. The Pool was lovely and in the evening sunshine too. Great value, well positioned, spotlessly clean, superb food. Highly recommended.

If you don't fancy staying in the busier town of Potes, then this hotel could be an ideal alternative. It sits mid-way down the twisty CA-184 which is worth doing regardless.
The hotel itself sits alongside a couple of other buildings, but there's no local restaurants or bars. Having said that, there's plenty of choice for food and drink in the hotel itself. The food is very good quality, and served fresh out of a small kitchen.
Although it was freezing in September when we visited, we gave the small pool a try. I'm sure it would be a God-send in the warmer months, but you do get plagued with flies unfortunately.
There's no secure parking for bikes as such, but it's so out of the way, you don't need to worry.

What a gem. Very friendly welcome from everyone, including Lola the dog. Comfy room and very quiet. Restaurant is excellent with good food, wine , and coffee. We asked for after dinner liqueurs and weāre provided with generous sized Cointreau and the local Baileys, all with a smile. Like all such places try a little Spanish and the borders are immediately removed. Finally the pool is clean and warm. I loved this place.

We loved it here. The walks in the area are spectacular and long hikes rather than very mountainous. The food was hearty and mostly good, the steak and also the langoustines were excellent. A nice atmosphere and a good breakfast.

Great experience. Beautiful house and surroundings. Spacious room and comfortable bed. To highlight how well you dine, exquisite everything, the best green beans with ham I have ever eaten!! Also very rich the puff pastry, sirloin and horny and canonical dessert. Fully recommended if you are in the area
