Stayed with my honey in a deluxe two bedroom apartment with a hot tub with a view of the ocean that I booked directly through Vale do Lobo’s website. The VDL property is gorgeous with picturesque golf courses, a major tennis club, swimming pool and much more. VDL offer “van” service, but having a car is a better option unless you want to stay in your apartment because the property is so vast. Our hot tub was outside on a upper deck and heated to 29 C.

This is a high end resort that is well maintain and a good location for sun worshipers. Our unit; A32B, had three levels, a well equipped kitchen, ensuite master bathroom with separate tub and shower, a small second bedroom with an adjacent bathroom with shower and a living room. There are lots of housing options on the VDL property that can be obtained from multiple sources.

This was our first visit to Vale do Lobo resort. We stayed in a two bed town house with pool in the Royal Golf Development for 2 weeks. Priced at over €1m to buy, the Villa itself was very nice with good amenities. We were particularly pleased with the size of the pool as it was bigger than we expected.
However, our Villa was clearly bought as a holiday let only and the owners never stay here. This was obvious as everything in the Villa was basic at best. For example, the sun beds had no cushions and so were very uncomfortable, the beds (particularly in the master suite) were rock hard and both my husband and I now need a visit to the chiropractor when we get home, the shower in the master en suite did not drain properly and on one occasion flooded both the en suite and bedroom, the kitchen and bbq were both basic, and the pool tiles are coming away from the wall and definitely needs some TLC.
We found the resort shuttle very useful and never waited longer than 10 minutes to be picked up.
The reception staff were helpful when we reported issues and these were quickly resolved (eg broken parasol and phone not working).
A lot of the reviews will tell you about the 5pm check in and this is also stated on their website. I do think this time is too late and there is no need for it. Check out is at 11am. Suggest more cleaners are needed if this is the issue so check in can be moved earlier to around 3pm in keeping with other resorts and hotels.
The beach is lovely and the sun beds comfortable. There is a charge of €25 for 2 beds and parasol, and this must be paid in cash. Ordering from the bar can be paid by card. Staff do come round to the beds to take orders but not very often.
We really liked the pool at Well. This is included within the cost of the holiday. If you want to get sun beds you need to be there when it opens at 9am. They have not overly packed sun beds in so there is plenty of space and it does not get super busy.
We tried most of the restaurants at the Praca. All were good, except Monty’s. Their food was not cooked fresh. My favourite was Well - the sushi was amazing.
There is a well stocked supermarket and a pharmacy in the resort. There is also a health centre, though luckily we did not have cause to use it.

This was out first time to the Algrave and to Vale do Lobo resort. We were travelling without children. We stayed for 6 nights at the beginning of May in a two bedroom deluxe townhouse with a non-heated pool.

What can I say it was a wonderful experience. I had read several reviews about dissatisfaction with 5pm check-ins. We got there at 3pm and while our accommodation was getting ready, we were able to put our suitcases safely in a room next to reception and spent time at Spikes bar and restaurant, enjoying drinks and a light snack. It felt really smooth and we had no issues.

We noticed our accommodation was of a high standard, modern, surpassing our expectations. It was also spotlessly clean with lovely touches such as welcome snacks (juice, tea, coffee, croissants, bread etc.) to keep us going on day of arrival till we shopped at the local supermarket.

Getting anywhere on the resort was easy via the free shuttle bus. We used it several times a day on most days. There was a delay one day and we opted to get a taxi from the super market to the townhouse.

We loved the access to the beach, being able to eat at restaurants overlooking the beach such as Well Beach Club and enjoyed the sunsets. Staff at reception and in restaurants were all incredibly polite, friendly and helpful. I want to thank the security man who took a call from me before reception was open last Saturday and had reception call me asap to rearrange airport transfer due to flight delay.

I also want to thank the restort for lovely gesture of giving me a bottle of wine and a card on my birthday.

We used the taxi company recommended by the restort and we want to thank Ana Paula Guadalupe for being so warm, friendly and going out of her way to make sure we would get a taxi when we needed it.

The resort is not too far from Vilamoura, which is a good place to visit, lots of restaurants and cafes on the marina. It was convenient for us ti book excursions from there. We went on a boat trip to see the stunning coastline and magical Benagil cave. Fara old town is also lovely to wander round.

I would definitely visit again in the future and recommend to others wanting to visit the Algrave.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Todays date is Sunday 16th Aug 2020, I arrived at midday to be told that the apartment I was renting would not be available until 5pm. I asked if this could be brought forward and was told that it could not be and that these are the terms and conditions of the booking, i had missed the small print. The female who was doing the check in had no consolatory tone, no customer service skills and was more than prepared to have a stand up row raising her voice. The check out is 11am so the give themselves a full 6 hours to turn the rooms round. I phoned back at 2.30pm to check the status, and was told once again firmly that I would be contacted if the room became ready, i explained that i would provide an accurate account of my experience on trip advisor and was basically told to do what you want. I was contacted at 15.50 to say the apartment was ready and took occupancy at 16.15hrs. Four and a quarter hours after arrival. The apartment is okay with some tired furniture, the hot tub only has one jet working, its overlooked and looks out on to a roundabout, there is bird muck on the balconies. The outside areas are dirty. Bathrooms are shoddy, crack in one of the baths, marked toilet seats.
If you want to have a fantastic experience of beautiful surroundings, fantastic customer service and to be made to feel great and special with attention to detail go and stay at Vila Vita Parc, its more expensive but it provides excellent value for money.

We have been returning customers to vdl for many years, we have always found it to be a great place to stay this was our first time back since COVID and this holiday meant a lot to us. Firstly the accommodation was comfortable however the apartment was grubby the kitchen counters all stained and marked. I am a member of their resort loyalty and you get nothing as promised in this we arrived at 5 as we knew that was the time but when I requested a late check out I was told no and not even offered another propert to use for the day and they had some available we would have paid for this too, no sleep the night before we left as when we returned from dinner we found a broken picture on the floor smashed and a note from security in portugeese to say the alarms had gone off and they checked the property that a window was left open , I found this very unnerving and they should have called us I couldn’t sleep after it as I was so nervous of being broken in to again , we never left any doors open so obviously someone did try and access the property while we were out I did find a number of personal items moved. Rang reception and got no help or did they show any sympathy just passed me onto the private security company who stressed me out more as they had no English terrible end to our holiday this is not what it used to be and also the toilet brushes are filthy and we had to replenish the toilet paper ourselves avoid the place

We arrived at Vale Do lobo gold course and you could sense this was going to be special.
The 2 golf course are amazing and the 16th on the Royal course is fantastic (I parred it twice so well happy).
We stayed in a villa on the complex it consisted of 2 floors. Very nice and spacious.
We got a 5% discount card which you can use in the restaurant and bars on the complex- which stretches to the beach.
They do have a courtesy bus which will take you anywhere in the complex-including the beach bars-
You can press the button on the bus stops and it goes through to reception, they will then send a bus to pick you up free of charge.
Some nice beach bars within walking distance. Julia’s, Fins etc right on the beach.
The cheeky pub was very good on a Friday night, but it’s a cab ride away €15
Vale do lobo is very expensive for drinks and meals.
We went into Villamoura one night (€16 in a cab) Food and drinks were a lot cheaper.
I would go back, to bake do lobo for the golf, but go into Villamoura of a night.

Check in at 5pm is very late. The villa and pool was private and in a very quiet area. Nice villa but needs attention handles broken soap holders broken. Maid service was once during our 5 day stay didn’t replenish toilet rolls. Pool area was ok but all the wooden decking around the pool needs replacing it was all very wobbly not flat, trip hazard.very large resort definitely need a car for getting around. The Praca main area has about 6/7 restauarants we ate in 4 of them the food is all very average but overpriced.

We have been to Vale do Lobo many times over the past 20 years, the first few years of which our two children were young teenagers. We always had lovely holidays, the resort felt safe and friendly and geared to all ages. Unfortunately I feel this has now changed. This year we went with our daughter and son-in-law and their two young children and was disappointed to see how things have changed since our last holiday in 2018. The resort still feels safe and friendly, but no longer in my opinion for all ages, it definitely is striving for a different image (30 year age group). The old swimming pool at the Praca has been replaced by Well, which would have cost us 100 euros to use (4 adults, the 2 children would have been free), but would not allow us to leave for a couple of hours at lunch time for the 2 year olds nap) and come back later. The shop has gone so nowhere to buy basics like drinks, sweets, ice creams, bucket and spades, newspapers etc., everything is geared to going in one of their restaurants. The newsagent shop has also gone at the Golf Centre so the supermarket at the entrance is the only place now to buy anything (we did not have a car). VDL are all about money. There is a play area by the crazy golf for children, but you are only allowed to use this if you buy a drink from their bar! I would not have minded if it was a nice play area, we went once and it looked like cast offs from the previous creche that was there. Our biggest disappointment, however, has to be the entertainment at the Praca in the evening, in particular for the children. Over the many years we have enjoyed sitting outside Monty's watching the little children dancing and having fun in the evenings, what a disappointment that now we have grandchildren of our own this did not happen. We booked for three evenings and the music was so dull (possibly livened up later at night but definitely not the hours we was there). What has happened to Wendy and Adam? Obviously do not fit into the new "image"! I agree that they are not to everyones taste. especially later in the evening, but they were definitely superb early evening with the children, our two did not dance once nor did any others. Why not have an act geared to children at 7 p.m. for 2 hours then change it to something for adults. Lastly regarding swimming, we used the pool at the Tennis Centre which was nice. The surrounds are quite tatty, I don't think the sunbed area has been painted in years, although we did see a decorator in the tennis court area doing some work, so maybe the whole of it will be refreshed. I just hope though that they don't change it too much and it ends up like the Praca pool. The staff in the cafe here were lovely and prices good compared to the Praca. All in all we had a lovely holiday as we have fun as a family have given my review 4 stars, but I think there are probably better holidays to be found in Portugal if you have young children.

This was the first time we stayed here and it is a large resort with amazing villas dotted along the tree lined roads, apartments and houses. We opted for a one bed apartment which was nice and spacious, but according to my friend who’s stayed there a few times, these are often privately owned so each apartment might be slightly different inside, I’m not sure. Just two things were a little annoying with ours, the hairdryer was attached to the wall, like a lot of hotels and look prehistoric and was really slow, secondly we couldn’t use the safe as you had to pay for it, which would have meant a trip back to reception, which isn’t just around the corner.....who charges for safes nowadays? They need to remove this charge. The resort itself is lovely but you can’t just pop for a swim, everything is quite a way away so planning would be something that needs to be done on this type of stay. For us it didn’t matter as only stayed a couple of nights as was here for a wedding.

Stayed two days at the end of our holiday in this resort. I agree with earlier reviews and would not recommend it, this resort is huge hundreds of villas and apartments. We stayed in a two bedroom standard apartment - it was miles from the centre of everything. The apartment was clean but dark and with a small balcony, air conditioning units were ancient and did not work properly. I have two main issues with this resort - 5 p.m. check in is ridiculous you are basically paying for a full day but only have the apartment for 7 hours in reality, then when you are leaving checkout is 10 a.m., when I complained about this I was given lip service. Also nearest pool to us in the tennis academy was small and run down, basically anywhere away from centre of resort reception etc. is run down and gardens are not well maintained, etc. As for the big pool the Well when we went there were just about 40 beds and even less umbrellas and beds were taken for the day with people leaving towels and no where to sit and shelter from the heat. I tried to express my disappointment at check out but was basically ignored. My advice, you will get better value for money in nearby areas this resort is not anywhere near 4.5 stars especially if you are not in a villa and located in apartment miles from any of the poor facilities on offer, it all goes down hill from reception area!
