For my first time in Japan and first time snowboarding, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! So much serenity. With a location right in front of Tsugaike’ slopes and super easy access to the chair lift, a lively crew that genuinely cares and has fun while doing it, pretty amazing food (the duck pancakes were to die for..) and the comfiest bed, I can’t recommend the Phat Packers enough! Seriously, it’s the vibe of it! Pretty impressive for a first season Packies! See you soon!

This place has: 1. super soft beds 2. Awesome people 3. All the breakfast- including actually probably one of the best coffees around (I actually searched) 4.Shuttles to every mountain (mostly in time for the first chair) 5. Reasonably priced drinks 6. Awesome people Things it doesn't have: 1. uncomfortable beds 2. not awesome people 3. bad food 4. letting you get lost trying to find things 5. half a bar 6. again not awesome people Things out of their control: 1. Snow (apparently the worst in 60 years but still somehow amazing) Thanks to Louis,Brodie, and Jorjia... you all made it so great! Plus fearless leader Murds!

Stayed here for 5 nights over Jan/Feb, first time skiing in Japan and this place was by far the highlight of Hakuba! We had a big bright room with tatami mat floors, plenty of room to chuck gear and cases, and really nice to come back to every day. Great communal facilities as well, decked out common areas with awesome food, coffee and beer. Do yourself a favour and try the Ramen place down stairs! The place is ski-in ski-out, and the hiring and returning of gear was made so easy by the Phat Packers staff. Theres a shuttle service that rolls around on the regular for skiing and bar hopping, which made it really easy to get around and enjoy the whole of Hakuba. The staff are awesome, helpful and really make you feel at home. Really appreciate how great this place is, will definitely be coming back!
