What can I say about Snowlines that doesn't sound like I'm just gushing about our wonderful stay here?
Maybe it was the time of year (Early March), there weren't too many people about so that was great for us personally, however in general the owners Stephen and Sarasa go above and beyond for their guests. We were made to feel very welcome, picked up from the bus station, given a walking tour of the facilities, shuttle to ski fields provided in the mornings, breakfast buffet was always tasty, they had nightly meal options to opt into and if not they had plenty to say about local restaurants and could even facilitate a booking for you.
The room we stayed in was the Japanese style, so we had separate futon mattresses we pushed together. The room was sufficient for space, and there was a toilet and sink also. The bathroom was separate for showering (the on-site onsen was where we went daily). We didn't use the laundry facilities, but they were available.

The lodge boasts large common areas, multiple comfortable seating spaces, and a bar that is open every night until 11 pm (if you can stay up that late).
The other staff were all very polite and attentive also.

The location was fantastic. We did not have a car, utilising the local buses that run in the area from the ski resorts was simple and Stephen even makes sure you know how to get home from every place he drops you off from of a morning. It is a very shirt walk to Echoland where other accomodations, restaurants and some ski retail shops are. There's a bottle ship at the end of the road, too. They just ask that you don't byo at the lodge.

Staying at the Snowlines Lodge was wonderful. The accommodations were wonderful, the staff was great and the location was ideal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Snowlines and plan on returning again in the future. The Nagano Snow Shuttle from the Airport was extremely easy to get to the resort as well as for the return trip. Also Stevens recommendation and aid in sending our ski gear to the airport while we spent another week in Tokyo was extremely beneficial.

Steve and his team create a seamless Hakuba experience at the Snowlines lodge. The lodge has a small bar for guests and comfortable sittings areas to relax in front of the fire, comfortable rooms, onsen, lodge shuttle bus to the ski hills in the morning and 3 local evening meals per week. The lodge were very helpful in booking local restaurants, our transfer from Narita airport and luggage transfer and storage after our stay. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again when visiting Hakuba.

We can highly recommend Snowlines Lodge. The lodge is warm and welcoming, Steve and team’s local knowledge makes a massive difference, making sure you’re all set for a great time on the mountain or to eat in the evening. The communal areas in the lodge are great for relaxing and enjoying a drink

Couldn’t have asked for a better lodge for our first ski trip to Japan. The rooms were great, lounge and bar very inviting, the included brekky was fab and staff all really lovely.

But probably for us the highlight was the way Stephen and Sarasa ensured we got the most out of our stay. From pre booking great value restaurants for our group of ten, private shuttle to the resorts (the free public bus for the return trip is right at doorstep), advice on where to ski based on conditions, where/how to arrange ski rentals etc. The in-house hotpot night is not to be missed - Sarasa is an amazing cook.

We’ll be back for sure.

Great place to stay with friends and kids. Friendly staff, fabulous host Steve who will do everything to make your stay enjoyable. We stayed in some nights and had the Japanese special dinners two of these nights which were very good and big. Kids can go to bed while you sit and have a drink in the bar and lounge in front of the fire. It’s like staying in a big family house. Lots of restaurants nearby if you feel like going out. I would highly recommend for a relaxing week skiiing.

My family spent the winter in Hakuba and for a special Christmas gift, we gave our 12 year old daughter three cooking classes with Sarasa Bryant Horii, one of the owners of Snowlines Lodge. My husband, son and I each participated in one of the classes as well with our daughter, and our experience was absolutely wonderful. Sarasa is an excellent cook, and she is a fabulous teacher, always patient, positive, supportive and helpful. At each class we participated in, Sarasa taught us to make a main dish and many side dishes as well. Sarasa makes everything fun,and our classes were full of laughter. Sarasa speaks English very well, and we loved learning more about Japanese culture form her, as well as the throrough cooking instructions she provided. We learned SO much from her, and we will always remember the tricks she taught us in the kitchen. We learned to make tempura, dumplings, bento boxes, and much more. At each class, we got to feast on the delicious foods we had created, and she alwats sent us home with enough food for another entire meal! We all agree that Sarasa's food was the best we ate in all Japan. She is a lovely person and we consider her a friend. The Snowlines Lodge is beautiful and we would recommend it for lodging. Sarasa is a true treasure!

Superb snowlodge that's close to the Hakuba resorts (Happo 1 being about 5 mins bus ride away!). For those skiing, the bus-stop is right outside the lodge which helps. Steve, his family, and dedicated team couldn't do enough for me and my friend. Really pleasant atmosphere if you want to just chill out for the day in one of the two lounges.
The onsens in the lodge are a great way to relax - if you can stand the heat!

Stephen and team were incredibly hospitable, I can’t thank them enough. We enjoyed our stay from morning breakfasts, Onsen onsite, spacious room and our evening drink at the bar.

Transport, Stephen picked us up from the bus stop and dropped us off; and organised all our dinner reservations that were superb including the hot pot meal at Snowlines.
