If you want a home away from home feel when you go to Hakuba then this is the place for you. From being offered a pair of slippers to wear during our stay, picking us up from and dropping us to the Happo One Bus Terminal, offering to take me into town because it was on their way and needing ice for a sprained ankle, nothing was too much trouble. Their communication before we left home was second to none, they answered our questions, offered to make bookings for us and gave us many tips to make our stay effortless. Their pizzas were delicious, the best espresso martini I've ever had and breakfast...well our made to order breakfast every morning amazing. From Eggs Benedict to Pancakes plus pastries, cereal, toast and fruit, we really didn't need anything until lunch. Our room, number 7, was just big enough for adults which included a fold out bed for the 4th person. It was a 5 minute walk to Tokyo Hotel to get the shuttle bus to the ski lifts or into town. Truly friendly and welcoming staff where nothing is too much trouble.…
Was very looking forward to the trip to Japan, but had to cancel last minute due to the recent Virus outbreak. Many other properties in Tokyo understood the situation and refunded the amount fully. If anything could make the matter worse, Morino Lodge declined (Strict policy- inflexible) any form of refund and the communication via email replies became short & unfriendly then in the end, no replies - we just wanted to explain the situation that we are in, since we are in a grp with elderly & infants. If it was just us adults cancelling out of whim, not able to get a refund is something that we deserve. But its not. We booked with other properties that had the same cancellation policy, but were able to get refund. (and we are more than grateful). If we are given a chance to properly communicate with the property, it would be ideal - but seemed apparent from the emails that they did not want to have any more contact with us. I thought after the whole virus incident is over, we can rebook with the property again at year end, but with the customer service that im getting, Im disappointed to say that Im better off looking for another property that has policies that are more flexible and negotiable. Or somewhere with better customer service. This review might not be of any relevance, but for travelers that might have to cancel plans due to recent situation, their customer service is not something that you would want to deal with.…
Stayed in the Alps Retreat 1 Chalet. New build and my word was it beautiful. The service was amazing from start to finish. Communication through whatsapp was great from organising shuttles to places to ordering Pizza (which was delivered to the chalet!). The place was clean, tidy had everything you needed and more (netlfix, wifi, Apple TV, coffee machine... Underfloor heating 😍). We were shown how to use the Japanese washing machine and detergent was supplied. We were picked up from multiple places and if it was too far they were always happy to drop you to connecting buses even early in the morning. There is a little short cut down a 'goat track' that comes out right by the Gondala so easy access to the slopes. Overall these guys are amazing and we will all be back for sure next season. Thank you 😊…
The staff here get an A+ for service, even for someone like me who didn't stay with them. My son and I came here for a pizza dinner on our last night in Hakuba. The hotel has the custom of patrons taking their shoes off at the entrance, and using the slippers provided inside the hotel and restaurant. The food was excellent, and the lady at the bar even gave the TV remote for us to choose what to put on. Anyway, post dinner, I couldn't find my shoes anywhere. We soon realized that someone else accidentally took my Timberland shoes instead of theirs when they left the hotel for the evening. The staff kicked into action. One of the drivers thought she knew who's shoes they were, and ran to the restaurant where she thought he was. Unfortunately, that didn't work out. They then lent me one of their own gum boots so I had something to wear, and had a second driver drop us home. They also took my phone number, and have promised to call if the person comes back this evening. The drivers resume work tomorrow morning and shall drop the shoes off before we head off tomorrow morning. The hotel was completely not at fault here, but several of their staff went out of their way to help. I'm really grateful for their help, and I absolutely HAVE to stay here next time, simply to support such awesome people. I hope you do the same.…
Great location with friendly helpful staff. Room size was good with balcony too.Our room easily made us comfortable-2 adults and 1 teenager. Pizzas and breakfast really good and afternoon tea on arrival back from the slopes a nice touch. The common room is well equipped. Washing is easy. Gondola nearby via goat track or the shuttle bus stop only 150m away. Wifi mostly good.
