This hotel has a great number of amenities which make it that much greater. There is an in-house restaurant for breakfast and quick dinner (the soba noodles are great), and many restaurants nearby that can fulfill anyone's needs. The ladies and gentlemen working at the front desk were impeccable and always fulfilled our needs to the greatest extent. They helped arrange taxi rides, shuttle buses, train rides and times, and provided extra tattoo coverups. The rooms were very culturally impressive, providing normal beds, and a traditional Japanese tatami with cushions, a TV, and a little table. There was no view from the hotel window, but the tatami is a great place to relax after skiing. The onsen provided by the hotel is spectacular, there is a changing room to change (bathing suits are prohibited), and store clothes. There is an onsen inside and an area to wash off before entering. The onsen outside was very relaxing and really provided a great experience. Only one other person was there with us so we didn't feel clustered or awkward at all. The hotel is a 15-20 minute taxi ride away from the mountain making it a great place to lodge by the mountain luxuriously. Overall, this hotel is a really great way to experience Hakuba in a traditional and lavish Japanese way.

I got a room with private onsen which is nice. I arrived late and tired and hoped staff would come out help with luggage but not in sight at all. I dragged suitcase and ski bag up the stairs. G: was ok but again they would not help you with lugguage to the room. They have push cart in the checkin area and pretty much help yourself. I stayed at the far end where there are stairs so when I used the push cart, I wouldn't be able to go all the way to my room. For the price they charge and brand of hotel, it is not unresasonable for guest to expect thry help with luggage. They told me at late night only one staff so cannot be away from counter. The breakfast was just ok and somewhat small in selection. The staff is very nice and onsen is clean and confortable. I saw someone's comment here about staff should offer more help with ski resort and I agree.. You can buy discounted lift tickets for Happo or 47. After I bought the Happo ticket, I went to Gondola and found out it is not opened as well as many other lifts due to wind while 47 was much better. Some people I met at 47 told me their hotels warned them about the lift closure when they were buying the lift tickets which would be very helpful. Parking is free at the front's parking lot. I drove from Niigata airport which took around 3 hours with toll. My room has a small futon area so can sleep more people if needed.

We had a wonderful time at Courtyard Hakuba. It was our first time in Hakuba and didn’t know what to expect. The location was really convenient. There are free shuttles to the slopes right outside the hotel. Lots of restaurants with in walking distance. Ski lockers that makes storing equipment easy. Discounts to the local rental place and a system already in place to make equipment rental very convenient. Lava Rock is a beautiful restaurant to enjoy breakfast. Buffet breakfast was delicious and lots of variety. They offer free flowing happy hour for 2000 yen. Platinum recognition included an awesome room upgrade, buffet breakfast, happy hour ice cream for the kids, and nightly ramen/soba. But the best part about the hotel was the staff. I felt as though they went above and beyond to make our vacation memorable. A special thank you to Mariko. She was extremely friendly and welcoming. She gave us recommendations on nearby restaurants, provided us with loads of information on shuttle times, slope destinations, rentals, etc. Our family of four really had the best time!!!

Room with the onsen was fabulous, the price was way over priced considering they don't arrange transport to the ski resorts on a more frequent basis. The times were every 1hr-1.5hrs and with kids that was a nightmare. You cant ever make the bus that you plan to make and every time we missed it by 5mins. Then your stuck standing at the bus stop that's out sources by the Marriott. For the price you pay for the room that's pathetic.

Don't expect them to carry your bags to the room.

Breakfast was a disgrace considering the other Marriott's around the world have some outstanding food offers. Japanese food is usually pretty dam good.

This hotel by a worldwide hotel chain fits the most indecent curtains in the room. The curtains are so THIN that they don't function as curtains. Not only that they don't block lights when the sun rises, they also don't black lights at night when there is a public hotel lamp post right outside our windows. The hotel has such a CLEVER design to have a public lamp post right outside the windows of a ROOM but fit the room with curtains thin as tissues. You will laugh when you see my photos.

This hotel was amazing for our 4 night ski stay. Free shuttle bus to and from Happo One bus terminal (you do need to reserve though so contact in advance). We stayed in the private onsen room and absolutely cannot recommend enough! Amazing to come home to after a day of skiing. Shuttle bus stop right in front to access all areas of hakuba47 and Happo One. I think they came every hour or so, 8am-11am then came back 1pm-5pm from memory. Free lockers on first floor to store your ski gear. Only a 5-10 minute walk to Echoland for heaps of dining options. Only downside is the closest 7/11 is about a 20 minute walk, there is a little convenience store in Echoland but found there was not a lot of cheap ready to eat food like sushi or sandwiches. We never tried the restaurant or onsen on site so are unable to comment. Will definitely stay here again next time!

We enjoyed our stay and made use of the facilities. The onsen was enjoyable and the breakfast buffet was filling. Our family included two teenage boys and the room was a little cramped. The staff were exceptional. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was great quality, but the drinks were pricey. It was convenient to the shuttles to a subset of Hakuba Valley ski resorts.

The front desk staff were endlessly helpful answering my questions and helping me find my way around and my way back to Narita.
They have laid out schedules in English and Japanese highlighted for clarity how to use the extensive local bus system to get to the various ski resorts.
When the breakfast buffet became a deliver-to-the-table breakfast due to concerns about Corona, they paid attention to my likes and made sure that was available the next morning. All with incredible Japanese hospitality.
The room and Onsen were just what I needed between days skiing.
A wonderful place. The best Courtyard I have ever stayed at.

The Courtyard by Marriott is marking it’s one year anniversary and there’s a fantastic family friendly hotel in Echo land, Hakuba.

Situated in the middle of a number of the ski resorts it’s easy access to many of the mountains there are loads of restaurants very walkable distance from the hotel. The rooms are lovely can easily accommodate two adults and two children. The staff are delightful and try very hard to ensure that all your needs are met.

One recommendation would be to have a regular running shuttle between the Hoppo bus terminal and the hotel or even to the ski resorts as the free buses and shuttles do not regularly run back and forth on loop they go one way in the morning and back in the afternoon.

Very nice property, way nicer than any Courtyard in North America (I am
Surprise it is branded a Courtyard).
We had a room with private onsen which was very nice.
The staff are extremely nice and helpful.
The buffet breakfast is very nice, small waffles and pancakes with whipped cream were a delight.
Lava Rock for dinner was just so so, food wasn’t too great, but it was ok.
The staff went above and beyond for me. I left a tote bag in my room and then I went to Tokyo. When I get to Tokyo I realized I left it at the Courtyard in Hakuba. My hotel in Tokyo called them and the Courtyard packed every item up (in bubble wrap!) and couriered to my hotel and it arrived in less than a day. That is amazing service!

How to come from Niigata airport? Any tranportation schedule to share? Thanks

You'd take the Joetsu Shinkansen to Takasaki and from there the Hokuriko Shinkansen to Nagano. Finally a bus shuttle from Nagano Station to Hakuba.
