Detailed Reviews
We recently had a wonderful stay at Wadano Forest Hotel and Apartments. We had three families staying in the apartments which are new, warm and spacious with very comfortable beds. The staff are all friendly and warm and made it feel more like staying with family friends than a hotel!
We loved the additional hospitality provided by Joanie and her team - they were always on hand to give our group lifts around town or suggest restaurants. They were also kind enough to provide me with soup when I was unwell.
Thank you Joanie and your amazing team who gave us such a memorial Japanese experience!

I know this place has received great reviews, but in my case, I can't agree with many of them. The hotel is nice and simple, it is clean and in a relatively accessible part of the village. However: it lacks a good management/organisation. Everything is a bit chaotic and unorganised - this is more obvious when they are busy. Nice staff but they all seemed to be all over the place and in most cases, lack of English, even sometimes Japanese language is apparent. I assume it is a relatively new place and they are only open during the ski season, so it takes time for them to get up to speed, but you kind of expect them to be ready at least for the busiest time of the year (Christmas/New Year)

We stayed at Wadano Forest along with other family and friends. Really enjoyed out stay, Joanie and the staff were very accommodating and helpful with bookings, shuttling us around Hakuba and were always friendly. The hotel is comfortable, the onsen perfect after a day skiing, breakfast great and our Shabu Shabu dinner was our best meal in Japan!

what a great hotel very quiet. bedroom was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable.
Joanie
and staff went out of their way to help and all spoke English. Always organising shuttles for us, including Joanie stopping to pick us up.
Only downside was breakfast which was very nice when ready. hot food would not be out altogether and often had to wait. This happened at 7am or later. Also we didn't realise you had to book restaurant in advance.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Was there with family and friends (we booked the 3 bedroom apartment) and it was a wonderful stay. The apartment was clean and well equipped (view was great during winter too). Staff was very helpful and welcoming. All of us truly enjoyed our stay there. We will definitely return if we are back at Hakuba!

I didnt know this place is just few minutes walk from sakka slope (according to others, they can even ski in an ski out when the snow is good).
Sakka slope is where you want to line up in the morning. It is the most under~rated area in happo~one. There is no queue, and once you take the quad up, you are basically accessible to the whole happo~one. Seriously, there was no queue for both the quad and the ticket office in sakka. Location! Location!
Apart from the location, i really enjoyed the hospitality of this hotel group. (Also the shower rooms are quite spacious compared to typical japanese hotels)
The people running this place offer what other big hotel chains normally fail to offer: local knowledge and willingness to help. We rocked up to happo~one without much research on food, gear hiring, transportation, etc. But with the help from the team from wadano forest, we had a smooth and wonderful holiday.
First time in a long time that i actually appreciate the people working in a hotel....

I loved Wadano! It is located close to Saka ski lift and there are some lovely, authentic Japanese as well as Western restaurants around the area. The double bedroom we stayed in was spacious, bed was really comfy, it was clean and there is an on site onsen as well! What topped our first time experience in Hakuba off was the amazing and outstanding hospitality provided by the General Manager Josh and hotel staff Yusuke and Jake. Josh was such a nice guy, very friendly. He ensured everything was ok and facilitated with our logistics as much as he could. We also enjoyed all our meals in Hakuba thanks to Josh's recommendations! Everyone was so kind and took care of us really well, our transportation to the town, to restaurants in other towns (Yusuke even drove us to K Circle and waited for us!)
Overall, we had a great trip! Highly recommended to others visiting Hakuba.

The whole experience was really memorable. The service was warm, and truly excellent from the moment we were picked up at the station and dropped off at the end of our trip. The hotel staff really go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. We were also pleasantly surprised to find such a wide variety of places to eat nearby.
