We stayed at Wadano Forest along with other family and friends. Really enjoyed out stay, Joanie and the staff were very accommodating and helpful with bookings, shuttling us around Hakuba and were always friendly. The hotel is comfortable, the onsen perfect after a day skiing, breakfast great and our Shabu Shabu dinner was our best meal in Japan! Highly recommended

For a January 2023 ski trip in Hakuba Valley Japan, my two daughters and I stayed 4 nights at the Wadano Forest Hotel. The staff were incredible. They cheerfully worked long days accommodating the needs of their guests. This included shuttling guests throughout the day to various ski lifts, restaurants, shops and the base camp/ski village. The staff provided recommendations on ski venues, dining, etc. and facilitated ski gear rentals. All staff spoke fluent English. The hotel was well maintained. We had a large comfortable bedroom with 3 beds and attached bathroom. Western breakfast was included and served in a separate quaint dining facility which included a small cozy bar. The neighborhood is quiet and safe at night with several restaurants and bars within walking distance. I highly recommend the Wadano Forest Hotel.

Was there with family and friends (we booked the 3 bedroom apartment) and it was a wonderful stay. The apartment was clean and well equipped (view was great during winter too). Staff was very helpful and welcoming. All of us truly enjoyed our stay there. We will definitely return if we are back at Hakuba!

We recently had a wonderful stay at Wadano Forest Hotel and Apartments. We had three families staying in the apartments which are new, warm and spacious with very comfortable beds. The staff are all friendly and warm and made it feel more like staying with family friends than a hotel! We loved the additional hospitality provided by Joanie and her team - they were always on hand to give our group lifts around town or suggest restaurants. They were also kind enough to provide me with soup when I was unwell. Thank you Joanie and your amazing team who gave us such a memorial Japanese experience!

Our stay at Wadano was truly amazing. The team made us feel totally welcome and looked after our every need. We loved the location, the onsen, the setting and the facilities. We stayed in the 3br apartment and the beds and pillows were amazing. We had a stunning view across the mountains from our bed. Being able to walk across the road and ski down to the lifts in the morning was great, and then to be able to ski home at the end of the day was fabulous. It involved a short walk through a lovely forest but it was no more than about 100m so was very easy. Regardless the shuttle service offered by the hotel was brilliant, especially going out for dinner at night. Thanks team. We had a wonderful stay.

Joanie and her team were exceptional seeing to our large groups every need and helping us to navigate our way with very little Japanese. The 3b apartment was also very roomy with very comfortable beds and plenty of bathroom space. On a good season which we we’re lucky to have so early on we also had the option to ski in and out and loved the vibe in Wadano with cool bars and restaurants within walking distance. Thank you for a fabulous holiday Team Wadano Forest!

My best friend and I just finished up our trip to Hakuba and we are absolutely thrilled with our stay at Wadano Forest. The rooms are simple but very comfortable (ie if you're looking for extravagant luxury this is probably not your fit), great water pressure in the showers, and breakfast was always delicious and home made. They will pick you up at the bus station and take you into town for errands whenever possible and drop you at any of the free ski shuttle stops in the morning (and afternoon pickup) so you can try all of Hakuba Valley's slopes. The nearest lift is barely 3 minutes down the road and easily walkable if you prefer as well. They even took us farther into town to get to lifts because the closest ones were closed. The onsen is a perfect way to relax after a day on the slopes, but be warned it is traditional, so you will have to disrobe and wash off before getting in! What really makes Wadano Forest stand out is the staff. They were prompt and friendly during pre-arrival communication and even more wonderful in person. Sai and Leah cooked a delicious breakfast every morning and Raymond was always ready with the bus to transport you as needed. We were "lucky" enough to plan our trip during the worst winter in decades (so little snow) and Leah and Sai organized a day trip to Matsumoto Castle for a very affordable amount and we had a blast with the other guests for the day. They did a snow monkey tour as well, but it was before we arrived. They really made you feel like family. Luckily, we got to experience some true powder on our last day and between that and the amazing time we had at Wadano Forest, we will definitely be back!

Second time we have stayed here. First time in the new apartments which are beautiful. The staff are so helpful: negotiating everything from the shuttle bus timetable to other ski fields, taking us on trips to the ATM or supermarket, booking dinner.... nothing was too much trouble. And the hotel onsen at the end of the day was just the best for tired skiing legs. We aim to return next year.

This the second season we have stayed at Wadano Forest Hotel and it was again a really wonderful experience. Joanne and her team were extremely helpful. The rooms are great and the onsen so relaxing. We dined in one evening and the nabe prepared by Sai was the best we have had in many trips to Japan. Nothing was too much trouble for Raymond and his bus.
