I stayed here for 4 nights. Exceeded my expectations in every way.

1) even before I arrived, I had my skis and gear bag shipped from Narita Airport straight there. They held them for a few extra days in their storage room. My gear bag was waiting for me in my room when I checked in, skis were waiting in my storage room.

2) everyone on the staff was fantastic. From dinner reservations, to how to navigate the town, and just general chat.

3) the hotel has such a warm feeling. There are plants everywhere, there is a fireplace that is kept running most of the day, there's a Japanese style rest area with books, there's a large breakfast lounge that's open 24 hours a day.

4) the room was great. There was a western style king bed, Japanese style floor and couch. It was very relaxing. The bathroom was simple, typical Japanese, but the shower was hot and everything worked.

5) a dedicated room for skis/boards where you have private storage and plenty of room to get set up in the morning. The room has direct access to outside and direct access to the main lobby.

6) breakfast was simple but consistent. The staff makes sandwiches every morning for all guests plus there is cereal and coffee/tea. Not a lot of options, but good, simple, and free. The coffee is available from early morning to late night.

7) it's about a 5 minute walk all downhill to happo gondola or a 2 minute walk uphill to base of Shirakawa 2 chair lift. If skiing at Happo, exit at the end of the day to the left of the Ramen place at base of Shirakaba 2 lift (small 10 car car park) and it's a 2 minute downhill walk.

Feeling like home around the Japan Alps. the room is very cozy with all amenities including a microwave, refrigerator, and a little kitchen with a stove. the location is the most convenient to be near by the gondola at Happo One, the chair lift at Sakka, and the shuttle bus to Iwate & Tsugake as the winter schedule in all services. the property services are the best with all property members to be pleased and appreciative for all guests; especially the services to arranged for the pick up/drop off during the arrival and departure date for all guests.

Great little hotel and amazing friendly staff, We had a great stay. The location is a short walk to the Adam gondola & places to eat. The hotel has everything from a fantastic heater, ski locker room, washer & dryer, comfy bed, great hot shower, restaurant for breakfast & dinner, sitting area in the foyer with a fire. Loved it & would recommend it to anyone.

Hotel Moegi is close to food, ski hire and the main Gondola at Hakuba Happo making it a great central location for those who want to get the most out of their lift passes!
The only downside is that it is a fair uphill hike if you're a beginner trying to access the green slopes near Evergreen hotel (where the ski classes meet), it is a 15 min walk or bus ride to the main Happo town centre and quite far from the Olympic ski jump if you prefer to sightsee.

Three friends and I stayed in a Japanese style room with tatami mats. The room had its own private bathroom but we sampled the onsen and fell into a routine of going to the onsen every evening to ease the muscles from the day at the ski fields.

The hotel had lockers for ski equipment storage, washing machine & dryer. They also had a computer with free internet access as well as a massage chair in the lobby. The hotel also had free wifi. Overall a good experience.

I used it in a ski trip for New Year holidays.
The movement with skis and the trip bag was great on the stairs which were all small in the hall.
The saving is thorough, too, and, as for the towel, a recycling product, the toilet paper are ultrathin.
There is neither warm temperature toilet seat nor Washlet.
The amenity goods are only toothbrushes.
A lot of rules post a fine on the notice contents and are unpleasant.
The hot spring could take a bath for 24 hours, but I stopped circulation even if I said in circulation-type one early in the morning and got cool. (the illumination of the corridor to a bathhouse is deleted, too.)
Dinner was a course dish without the menus, and the how to grill was not called into question, and the steak was all the members berry well Dan.
Though the dinner was not crowded with designation at time, I started it earlier from the one that was late by turn disregard more than 30 minutes.
It was the impression that could not leave dilettante business of the time when ski popularity was high.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Moegi. Semi-traditional bedrooms with huge begs and great heating. Equal walking distance from Gondola Shirakaba and Kokusai (Evergreen Ski School) lifts in Happo One region. Very nice and helpful staff (with enough English knowledge). Gave us a free lift to the bus terminal when a taxi let us down. Beautiful atmosphere in lobby (massage chair, music) and dining room (lovely free daily breakfast 730-830am).

The only downsides were: unable to understand the washing machine, wi-fi internet only works in lobby area (and gets heavily used by some residents) and small toilets.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay in Hakuba for a skiing holiday. The hotel is well located, situated at the base of the Shirakaba 2 chair lift with a short walk to several restaurants and bars. Very helpful staff, warm rooms, typical Japanese breakfast. The Onsen was great at the end of the day as was the massage chair. Beds were comfortable but the pillows were of an 'unusual' consistency and when travelling there again would pack my own. Secure lockers and ski equipment storage. Washing and drying clothes on site is very inexpensive. Would definitely choose to stay here again for a true Japanese experience. We had dry weather but not sure how well ski gear could be dried if you experienced rain, did note the equipment storage area had fan heaters but there did not seem to be areas to dry ski clothes.

Decent Place

Good Points
* pick up to and from bus station
* hot western breakfast and buffet
* bottomless drip coffee at breakfast
* fluffy thick comfy duvets
* located just behind Shirakaba 2 lift - short lift up then ski to Gondola -ski back almost all the way (all the way if snow on road)
* discount lift tickets
* daily room cleaning and fresh towels
* walk-able to Evergreen ski school
* staff make the effort to speak English
* staff will make reservations and book taxis
*staff are extremely nice
* some rooms are quite large 308 and 211 (even bigger) -have been renovated and have kitchenette -very comfy
*lobby has a fire
* easy walk to Uncle Stevens and a touch further for great Soba, Izakaya , etc
Bad Points
*no elevator
*walk back from dinner is usually uphill
*walk back from Gondola is uphill
* far from bus terminal, Lawsons , and other dining options
* they do not offer one way shuttle to Ecoland or restaurants (as many others do)
* bad location to get to Iwatake , Cortina or Tsugiake as must catch a "random" loop bus to bus terminal or Nakiyama lift to meet a scheduled bus ..trip to 47 is better as bus leaves from and returns to Century Hotel near Gondola
*bathrooms are RV size (but efficient)
*Onsen is small - four people max (not the true experience)
*no bar or bar-like area to hangout -awkward for apres ski drinks -they do not offer the dining room
* no drying room for gear
* dinner by-appointment only
*no tatami rooms with futons (if you wanted the experience of sleeping on the floor)

We arrived early in the season and were the first guests to arrive at this hotel, run by a very nice couple Japanese couple. While they don't speak much English, they were most accommodating and helpful with our requests, from extra pillows to making local calls. Husband is also the resident chef, who takes the intiative to vary individual hot breakfasts daily. They also serve different kinds of breads, which they make themselves. So good I just eat that for breakfast. He also serves up a mean steak (Japanese style, with rice) for set dinner, very good indeed. Reservation required.
Since we didn't read Japanese, we didn't realize the free massage chair is closed after 10pm but it was so relaxing we used it till 11pm. Still nobody stopped us.
Room was a tad cold on first night, possibly because it was just opened for us but got nice and warm towards the week. Love the onsen and free internet with pc for use. Took us a few days to find out there was a ski chair lift opposite our hotel. Must learn some Japanese since we are sure to return.

We stayed at this hotel for 9 nights with another family of 4 and we had 4 rooms between us. The rooms were quite spacious with a fridge and ensuite shower/toilet in each room. The bed was very comfortable and the hot breakfast each morning (this was included in our stay) was very statisfying with cereal / toast / fruit also available. As we were there on a ski holiday - the main feature was that we were about 1 minute walk from the snow (ski down to the Adam Gondala from the access point) and a number of eating places were within easy walking distance. We would walk directly across the road and up the driveway of that accommodation for an even easier ski to the Gondala and ski back down that driveway to get back to the hotel. The onsen was quite small and not as hot as previous onsens I have been in. There are ski lockers provided however there is no 'Drying Room' as such however we did find that our ski clothes and gloves did dry in our rooms okay. Access in and out of the ski room is a nightmare and quite dangerous while wearing ski boots. Also be wary of the ice on the driveway and the access to the hotel is on an incline and in the snowy/icy conditions the road can be quite slippery - my wife invested in some 'grippers' for her shoes at a cost of 1000 yen and these worked perfectly. The staff were very hospitable and 3 of the staff spoke good english and this was a bonus. A downside was that this has a nice lounge area / fireplace for sitting around and sharing the thrills and spills of the day - in previous places we have stayed we could take a bottle of wine or a couple of beers into an area such as this. Unfortunately at the Moegi (as I found out after taking my bottle of red down to sit in front of the fire and having a glass) you can only drink alcohol in that area which is purchased from their vending machine (small can of Asahi Beer was the only beer available from the vending machine at 350 yen) or purchase wine from reception at 650 yen per glass or 3600 yen per bottle (a little pricey when you can get a reasonable red from the shop down the road for 560 yen!!!) As a place to stay for skiing - location, location, location!!
