Perfect location surrounded by restaurants ! Best street in Hakuba - Bus pick ups to all different mountains close to out front - Breakfast was included which is awesome to have before you go off to ski for the day and not have to go out and find a place to eat - The staff were fantastic in every way and Olivia the manager is outstanding and goes above and beyond to assist you with whatever you need - I left my phone down the road at a restaurant and had to catch the bullet train early next day and did not have time to grab my very expensive new phone as they were closed early morning. I contacted Olivia and after we worked together to get the phone delivered back to the Shakespeare hotel, she personally went to the post office and packaged it up with bubble wrap and made sure it was secure in a box and sent it back to me in Australia at no charge to myself - I offered to pay but she said "No all part of the service" . I had it in my hand again 8 days later - OUTSTANDING !!!!!!! The staff are fantastic - The rooms are great and super clean - Highly recommend !!!

We got the delux room in the main building. The space was divided nicely to accommodate 4 people and having the living area with seating was nice and spacious. The good: English speaking front desk that is open 24 hours, Dry room for gear, coffee/tea available in main lobby, microwave and coin laundry available downstairs. The front desk will readily assist with arranging a taxi or luggage transport service. The hotel was easily recognized by taxi drivers so there was never a need to provide directions. The so-so: Our room didn’t have enough outlets so we kept unplugging the floor lamps when the overhead lights were too dark on their own; price was too high compared to other accommodations; Some staff appear to be hired for their English speaking abilities and not trained on knowledge about all the things hotels are asked to arrange. Overall a pleasant experience but expensive for what you get.

I would list this as 3 1/2. The stay overall was good, they have a laundry room, and it was close enough to some restaurants and other amenities, yet it seemed a bit far away from the actual resorts. The bus system took a while so it felt like the powder days weren't taken full advantage of. Overall I think it's a pretty good place to stay if you can't find a similar hotel closer to the resorts.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 7 nights in late Feb 2020, the hotel itself is accommodating with the services and getting you all set up for the impending slopes. What really gives it 5 stars is the staff who go out of their way to accommodate you in every way needed. From sorting out dinner reservations, picking us up in a shuttle, to finding misplaced gear (after check out). Mychelle, Olivia, and the team are an asset to this hotel and we'll definitely be back. The location being near the bustling restaurants and bars was also amazing.... This was a great experience...... and we loved the daily yoga👍👍

For the price paid (SGD320 per night), it was definitely not worth the stay. It was more like an inn than a hotel. I could have stayed at a better one nearby if I knew this was the type of room I am getting. Reviews were good online and it was just a 3 mins walk from where our friend's accommodation were, that's why we decided to book this place. Nothing, but regrets. The bed were so bad we could feel the coil spring, my husband and I ended up sharing 1 of the twin bed that were combined together. The room was so dusty that i developed very bad rashes. I went to the reception and showed them the conditions and they didn't even bother to offer to change my room. PS: They knew we were there for our honeymoon. Requested for cleaning and changed of sheets but it was not done as I purposely marked it so that I will know if the sheet was changed. Feedback to the reception and they came up to the room to change the sheets and vacuum the room. I gave this one star for the help they rendered before I got this hotel booked and i appreciated it. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel, because, for the price, you can stay at a better one nearby.

Had the opportunity to visit Hakuba during a business trip to Japan and stayed at the Shakespeare. The Hotel has a great location in Echoland with Restaurants and Bars within walking distance. Olivia and the staff made as feel very welcome and really went above and beyond. It was early ski season so the Hakuba shuttle bus was not in operation but Shakespeare stepped in and took us to and from the slops over three days. Thanks from both of us and we will for sure be back if the opportunity is given.

What a great find! I can’t say enough about the service at this hotel. At first I was a bit upset because I personally thought the bed was too hard. I know different people like different mattress so I figured I was stuck with it for the length of our stay. As soon as Olivia the Manager heard I was not comfortable she went WAY above and beyond to make sure I got a good nights sleep on a comfortable mattress. She personally went out and bought a memory foam mattress topper and two pillows to go with it. She was SO sweet and accommodating. As we got to know the area a little bit I realized we are surrounded with excellent restaurants, massage, ski rental places, bars and convenience stores all less that a few 100 meters away. We particularly enjoyed a sushi place with a women sushi chef called West Mountain. I also LOVED the hot pot of coffee on in the lobby all day long. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the heat was great. The bathrooms are a little strange but clean. Thank you Olivia for treating us like we were visiting your home!

Came here with a friend on a brief ski trip to Hakuba. All the staff were very polite and helpful. Checked in straight away. We stayed in the annex building which is in the back on the side. The rooms aren't modern but were still great, very very spacious (could fit ski gear inside easily without being in the way). The room was very clean and comfortable. Great location, close to ski gear rental stores, plenty of places to eat nearby, the shuttle station for the mountains was only a 2 minute walk away. Definitely would recommend to stay here, Hakuba was the highlight of the trip.

I stayed for 3 nights at the Shakespeare Hotel in January 2019, and skiied both Hakuba 47 and Happo while there. The Shapespeare had everything we needed. The rooms were nice and neat, the staff was very friendly, and you can’t beat the location. It’s central to the town, very close to the bus depot where you can get rides to the various ski resorts, and there are lots of restaurants and bars on the same street. They even have pick-up and drop-off services arranged with some of the ski rental places, which makes it so easy. Great pow pow on the mountains too. I highly recommend it!

Nikki and Olivia deliver world class service! I cannot thank these two enough for making our stay and six days spent in Hakuba Valley memorable. They are always there to help and answer the call, whether it is making dinner reservations (an absolute must in the busy winter months) to arranging cabs to/from the mountains or picking you up anywhere you need. Nikki even made dinner arrangements for us on our trip back to Tokyo and took care of the transport of our skis/snowboards to the airport! Made our stay worry-free and enjoyable. The rooms are simple, comfortable and cozy. A dry room has storage for all ski/snowboard equipment. The hotel is also centrally located in the Echoland area with plenty of dining options close by along with a few bars for nightlife. I will definitely be coming back to the Shakespeare on my next trip to Hakuba!
