Hotel Stelle Belle is located very close to Hakuba Goryu Ski Resort. It takes about 3min by walk. In green season, go for trekking at the mountains or enjoy fishing in a lake nearby. Hakubadake, Karamatsudake, Hakuba snowy gorge, Tsugaike and more in the vicinity. We have a hot spring of the pride at our hotel. This is very unusually a shape of the barrel. Name is "The Misodaru Open-air Bath". Please have a relaxing time at the hotel.

Booked through booking.com 3 bed for 3 people for one week. It met our expectations for the reasonable price. Clean and functional room, 3 single beds with warm heating. One cupboard for hanging was a little bit limiting as we kept most belongings in our suitcase. The room would benefit from hooks or some shelving.
Breakfast was included in price. It was generous in the offering of western or Asian variety. Very subdued atmosphere.
We enjoyed the on site inside onsen. It was only small but each time we visited we had mostly to ourselves. The outdoor onsen is inside an outside building and can be booked for groups after 21.00.
Junko at front desk us always friendly and helpful. She communicated well prior to our arrival and had everything ready for our 2am arrival. She also gave out a map pointing out all the local restaurants. Enough restaurants on offer for a weeks stay to try a new one each night. Recommend RESTAURANT R.

We appreciated the free locker for skis and boots, and also the daily morning shuttle to escal plaza for goryu & Hakuba 47 slopes. It’s within 5 minutes walking distance.
Highly recommend sanasaka ski resort (only 10 minutes away) for a fun less crowded option. We had it to ourselves mid week with fresh snow.
The hotel didn’t really provide socialisation with other guests. Very quite at night.
We would recommend and hopefully return some day.

The service offered by all staff was excellent, english level was good. collected from the bus stop and dropped off at departure. The hotel is 100 meters from the Ski hire and guests at this hotel get a deal with the Yamaha ski hire. Lift station was another 100meters. We paid ¥1000 per day for kids snowboard and boots. ¥2000 per day for adult. ¥2500 per day for adult skis boots and poles. ¥1500 per day for kids ski set. Again Hotel sells discounted lift passes. kids were ¥2300 per day. Adult could buy 2 day pass at ¥7100. The hotel had a good basement locker room for ski gear. Breakfast was good and early 0700-0815. Wifi was only downstairs in a coffee room/wifi area. Hotel was warm and clean. Beds in Japan are hard, period! I have stayed in 4 and 5 star from top to bottom. All the beds have been hard.

TAKE LOTS OF CASH. i have been going to Japan for years and always make the same mistake. ATM's that accept foreign cards are few and far between. Ski gear hire, cash only, ski pass cash only. Many restaurants cash only. Bus passes cash only. Its really frustrating. Just get the cash and double what you think you will need!!

We tok the bullet train from Tokyo to Nagano for family pass 2 adult 1 child ¥20,000 one way. 90 mins. Bus from Nagano station to Hakuba Goryu ¥1500 one way each. The bus dropped us by a pharmacy and the staff called the hotel for us...looked like standard procedure.

The skiing was great lots of runs great powder no waiting for any chairlift or gondola. Lots of restaurants and snack bars all over the place. Will definitely be back.

My wife and I stayed at Stelle Belle for 7 nights in February this year. The hotel is located in the Kamishiro village of the Hakuba Valley and is about 200m from the chair lift at Hakuba Goryu.

We stayed in one of the rooms on the top floor that has a view to the top of the mountain and the room was quite spacious (by Japanese standards). It had two single beds (which we pushed together), a double sleeper couch and enough space for another single bed. The bathroom was tiny (like all Japanese hotel bathrooms) but had a shower/bath etc.

From what my wife and I noticed, the room was only serviced every second day but that wasn't an issue. Breakfast was provided every morning but make sure you're there before 8:30am as they start packing the breakfast away by then. Food was ok, with sausages, eggs & toast on offer, along with various salads. There is also a rotenburo (onsen in large saki barrel) which can be booked...but be sure to book a slot early in the morning because its almost always fully booked between 4pm-9:30pm.

In terms of the location of the hotel, its very close to the Goryu lift (at Escal Plaza) so for snowboarders, its great (Goryu/Hakuba 47 is better suited for snowboarders than other Habuka ski resorts). My main complaint about the location was night-life. Escal Plaza always had something on at night (local acts, themed evenings and night-skiing) but if you wanted to hit the Echoland pubs, the Genki-go bus doesn't service the Kamishiro area that well and it would mean you having to leave Echoland or other pubs/clubs in Hakuba no later than 9pm to get back to the Hotel. Failing that, you would need to catch a taxi which can be as much as 4000Yen from the furthest point in Hakuba Valley to the Hotel.

There are a few other places in Kamishiro which are good to visit at night. We had a good time at places such as the Australian pub as well as a little pizza place (can't remember the name).

The hotel is ideal if you do have your own car, or if you're not a big night-owl and want to focus on your day-time snowboarding. The hotel owners are very friendly and helpful when it comes to collecting/taking you from/to the station as well as booking excursions etc. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

The hotel also sells discounted two-day lift passes for Y7000. This allows you to ski at both the Hakuba Goryu and Hakuba 47 resorts for two days (the two resorts are connected at the top).

All-in-all, the hotel is good value (especially if you stay for 6 days or longer) and is well located to the above two ski resorts. If you want to see a video to get an idea of the distance of the hotel to Escal plaza, see my video at http://tinyurl.com/hakuba.

This is a very good hotel centrally located approx. 6 mins walk (probably more in the snow or ski boots) from the Goryu ski chair lifts (Escal Plaza).

As we arrived on train to Kamishiro JR station (closest train station) the hotel came to pick us up in the free shuttle. You need to pre-arrange this and the hotel is very efficient in email communication.

Something that I did not expect but was pleasantly appreciative of is the hotel letting us to check in to our room even though it was only 11:30am when we arrived. This helped us massively as we had to unpack and change into skiing attire etc. The lady at the reception whose name is Junko was very helpful with tons of useful information for us. She recommended us a very good and cheap ski rental place just up the road called Yamaha (highly recommended!) and also sorted out our lift passes with discounts (if purchased directly from the hotel). Throughout our 5 nights stay there, Junko was always there to offer advise or suggestions whenever we need it.

All the staff at the hotel were very polite and courteous. They always serve with a smile which made my stay even more memorable.

Our room choice was a traditional Japanese style tatami room which was very big and spacious with an attached toilet and wash basin area. I am not sure if the Western style rooms have any ensuite bath. There is a small public bath on the basement level with a natural hot springs pool. There is also an outdoor hot springs bath tub which you have to walk outside into an adjacent building. I only used it once as it was too cold to walk out when I was there! There are mattresses, blankets and pillows in the cupboard which you have to make yourself every night to sleep in. The towels are changed every day and the room is cleaned every 2 days.

Breakfast which was included was delicious with an array of traditional Japanese breakfast items and also quite a few Western items like mueslis, cereals, yogurts, scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, etc. which would suit everyone. However, the breakfast time is rather short i.e. 7:30am to 8:20am. After the 3rd day, I noticed they changed the time to 7:15am to 8:20am not sure due to guests asking.

The hotel is centrally located within the Goryu ski resort with a number of restaurants nearby for dinner options. I noticed the hotel does not serve dinners however on the day I arrived, they had an ad-hoc dinner menu which guests can book in advance for.

Also worth mentioning is that there is a ski equipment drying room also located at the basement area with heaters and lockers available at no extra charge. Our room has 3 lockers assigned. There is also a free shuttle bus provided by the hotel to ferry guests to Escal Plaza where the main ski chair lifts are located 3 times in the morning and one pickup from Escal Plaza back to the hotel in the afternoon.

Free Wi-Fi available in each room and very fast connection.

Overall, I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and appreciated the great service and attentiveness from the staff especially Junko, the lady behind the reception desk. I would not hesitate to return again for the next skiing trip.

P/S: Prepare cash as the ski lift passes sold at the hotel reception (discounted) only accepts cash. The nearest ATM machine either a 7-11 or the post office is a bit of a walk away (20-30 mins walk especially in the snow) so make sure you have enough cash before you arrive.

Rooms were great size for family especially after room sizes in Tokyo. Lacking chest of drawers but a good size wardrobe. Breakfast included & has lots of variety as well as some daily changes.
Complimentary locker room downstairs for ski gear. Laundry available for guests - small fee for using dryer. Onsen for both male & female as well as outside onsen. Junko, lady owner couldn't be more helpful with handrawn maps of local areas as well as making phone calls to order pizza, massages, book restaurants etc. Shuffle trips up to & from Escal Plaza to get onto gondola & chairlifts daily in the ski season. Happy to oblige with extra trips if they can - We asked for a lift to 7/11 & it all was organised without problem,.
All in all, a great place to stay !

First thing that catches you when you step into Stelle Belle is a very friendly greeting by Junko at the reception desk. From there on everything is just perfect. We stayed in a suite room which has exceeded all the expectations. it is roomy and functional. The ski slopes are just 3-5 minutes walking however, if you don't feel like to walk there are three shuttle busses from the hotel in the morning to take you there. There is a roomy heated drying room for skis and boots. The hotel can book ski rentals and ski passes for better price than booking it online.
Breakfast is very good with various food hot and cold, continental and Japanese with an excellent hot miso soup every morning.
Junko and her husband are very helpful when comes to help with booking a tour or dinner and also will arrange a drop off and pick up for the tours. There is a free and very fast wi-fi in the hotel and every room.
The restaurant Sushi Katsu in Wind Inn was the best food experience during our stay and can only recommend it.
Overall, it was our second stay at Stelle Belle for skiing and will definitely return again.

Excellent location - probably around 10 minutes to walk up hill to Escal Plaza when kitted out with ski boots and carrying skis. Maybe 5 minutes normally. Complimentary shuttle bus will take you up there at a couple of scheduled times in the morning if you don't want to walk. Walking distance to a number of good restaurants in the evening.

Nice size rooms - We stayed in the Japanese style rooms. The bedding was really comfortable, which is a mattress you lay out on the floor each night.

Fast reliable internet - free wifi have a strong connection wherever in the hotel or room we was. Good speeds.

Good breakfast - plenty of options both Japanese and western style. Different options available for the 5 days we stayed, so didn't have to eat the same thing each day.

Friendly staff with excellent English skills made the stay comfortable with people there to answer any questions we had.

Heavily discounted ski lift tickets was a surprising bonus together with discounted ski equipment rental from a shop a couple of minutes walk away on the way to the ski area. This was a better price than anything we had been able to research online before arrival. Good place as staff there were also comfortable with dealing with foreigners.

Free lockers available on the basement floor to store your skis and other equipment to dry out overnight. This space was always very heated to dry your kit out.

Overall we really liked this place and would certainly recommend it and stay here again, when back in the area.

I have been visiting Hakuba for snowboarding trip in the past few years. Most of the times I stayed in the pension without going anywhere in Hakuba town area. This year, I booked Hotel Stelle Belle and changed my view on Hakuba.

The hotel is 5 to 8 mins away from Goryu ski area. You can either walk to Goryu ski area or take the hotel shuttle bus at 08:15, 08:30, and 09:15. The hotel rooms are clean and spacious. There are choices of both Japanese and western style for you to choose. Since I had a big group, I have taken up 2 Japanese rooms and 3 western rooms for 14 people. The hotel facilities are comprehensive. There are public bath onsen, private onsen, vending machines, washing & drying machines, ski/snowboard locker rooms, dining rooms, etc. Hotel services are great and helpful. Staff can speak very good English so communication is not a problem.

Going out for dinner is not too difficult. There are restaurants near the hotel. You can even take Genki-Go night bus (300 yen per way) to Happo One or Hakuba station for dinner and shopping. For me, due to timing issue, I have taken taxi from hotel to the nearest pharmacy to buy stuffs. It costed me about 2000 yen per way.

Regarding the Goryu ski area, it is a good place to stay for 2 to 3 days. There are runs suitable for beginners to advanced ski/snowboarders. And there is a connecting route at the peak to bring you to Hakuba 47. So there are many runs and places for you to explore and play around. Snow conditions is also good as well.

If you want to plan a hassle free snowboard trip in Hakuba, I would recommend Goryu and Hotel Stelle Belle. Btw Tsugaike is also a good place. There is a direct shuttle bus from Goryu ski area to Tsugaike. My group spent 5 days on snow in these 2 ski areas.

Highly recommend Stelle Belle and Josh Norris at Japan Powder. It is a relatively inexpensive Hotel about 300m from the main Goyru Gondola. We were a family of 4 with 2 older kids and stayed in 2 separate rooms, which were spacious, warm and comfortable. The bathrooms were small but clean and simple. Rooms have a mini bar fridge which is great for stacking full of drinks and snacks you can buy at the supermarkets around Hakuba. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast was great - a mix of Western and Japanese food. There is a courtesy bus shuttle to get you to the major ski fields and they often go out of their way to take you to the not so well known ones too. The hotel is well equipped for skiing with a good drying room and vending machines for various things. Overall a great stay and of course the snow is exceptional.

Location: about 5 minutes uphill to main road and another 3-4 min to Escal Plaza , so very handy
Rooms: we had a family suite with two rooms, small windows, heating was great, only one small but clean bathroom/shower/bath, no heated seat toilet !
Hotel has a laundry which we discovered later & dryer which was excellent
24 hr Japanese style bath/onsen lovely to soak all the ache and bruises after skiing
Oudoor onsen: few meters from main building, didn't feel going there at night
Breakfast was included and good
Service: as it is family run they were very helpful in assisting us with dinner reservation, taking us to station, picking us from station on our arrival, (but had to make our way back),giving us the phone to book lessons, or providing advise
Extremely respectful and lovely
Downside:
-no wifi in the rooms so had to come down and sit in reception area for checking emails etc.
- no lobby to enjoy the glorious outdoor view or meet up with friends, only a sofa and couple of chairs in reception area.
Overall lovely experience.
