When you read want this place offers, it doesn’t really stack up. Whilst the place is immaculately clean, the decor throughout the hotel, including the rooms, is tired and so very out dated. However the bathroom in our room was clean, modern and spacious. Breakfast is included but don’t get excited about that. They rotate two “hot” choices. Scrambled eggs and bacon one day followed by poached egg and sausage the next. If you choose to have cereal to start, your hot breakfast will arrive almost immediately. Poor timing and no attention to detail. There was no other variation and the eggs were dreadful. Don’t expect to see any fruit either. The hotel is non smoking but that doesn’t apply to manager or staff who smoke frequently throughout the day. The smell goes through the air conditioning and so into rooms, hallways, and lobby. The hotel advertises a games room which is located in the basement. Just don’t go there. It smells of sewerage and is full of uninspiring stuff. We didn’t try out the tv so maybe it picks up an English speaking channel because theTV in our room didn’t. The WiFi, thank goodness, saved us. It is very reliable. The shuttle buses are very handy, a ski rental very close, and ski runs are a short walk away even in ski boots. The staff are all friendly and helpful. To sum up, the place needs an overhaul.…
This hotel is not modern but is very well looked after. The old style colonial hotel looks so beautiful in winter. We travelled with 2 teenage children so got the 2 bedroom apartment. Note this is really an old lounge room with connecting bedroom. You have a nice modern bathroom and separate toilet. The rooms have comfortable beds and pillows. You have AC which works well and can open windows to get fresh air. The location (ski in/out when enough snow) is walking distance to Happo One ski field which is fantastic. You have Central Snowsports ski hire 5 min walk up the hill. You have the option of choosing a food package. I would recommend as the food is really good. Service top class and attentive. There is a ski room to store skis , boots etc. Buses to take you to the ski fields leave every hour at the hotel entrance on the main road so this is a big plus! You can get a cheap taxi into Hakuba to eat at different restaurants if you want. We got the fast train from Tokyo to Nagano, then a bus to Hakuba bus terminal , then Central Snowsports picked us up from bus station, we fitted our skis and then dropped us at our hotel for checkin! That was awesome and appreciated.…
I’m not sure where to start to be honest. Way over priced. Sewage issues, staff attending our room late at night to try and fix. Kids disturbed. Drivers are nice enough, however when asked to drive us to somewhere slightly out of their circumference, with a baby, they are not willing to oblige. Overall this place is and has been the worst place we have stayed in our 3 visits over the years in Japan.
we had the large turret room at the front of the building . it was very clean and roomy for some reason it had 2 large single beds but we just pushed them together and within a day the staff had changed the sheets etc to a large double . its a very spacious room unlike many in japan . very large bathroom with excellent toiletries provided . the staff were all loverly and work very hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible . its a good location in the wadano forest . a short walk maybe 200m to the sakka chairlift and able to ski back down the same track to the hotel . a good drying room was provided for guests gear . theres some very good restraunts nearby within and easy walk there maybe harder on the way back due to a full belly . id recommend café 3301 opposite the rabbit hole for an excellent Columbian coffee or evening meal . la neiges beautiful style is very comfortable and easy to feel at home .. overall the mostly English speaking staff did an excellent job of helping us with any questions . we will be back…
We came for a ski trip, and this place blew away all our expectations. The dining was world class... great french food with views of a snowcovered forest. If you're lucky, you'll see little foxes playing in the snow outside. The morning buffets were the perfect start to the day, filled with all the foods we were looking for before getting on the slopes. This little place is a hideaway of absolute quality in the mountains of japan. Loved it.
