Located at the base of the Happone ski area, most all guests were skier/snowboarders.

From its name higashikan (east wing), it was located a short walk from its main building. Comparatively newer, smaller and cozy.

We received an upgrade to a corner room with jacuzzi, as the hotel was sparse with people due to a very unusually warm winter with almost no snow.

The dining room was large for a small hotel so we suspect there are usually many dining-only guests. Nice french course dinner and a short but interesting and eclectic wine list. Breakfast was also nicely arranged.

Highlight of the stay was the entertainment during dinner. The wooded area just outside the dining room
was well lit. Various furry visitors arrived during dinner. The hotel places leftover bread in the woods. We had fox, wild boar, and other surprise furry friends.

The lobby area is small but furnished well and with a fireplace.

Friendly staff, most english-speaking, and management greetings upon arrival and for departure.

Very well run.

We drove to a nearby public onsen bath for a nice warming dip before dinner adding to a relaxing stay.

We stayed 5 nights in early January. The snow wasn’t as good as hoped (it rained 2 days) but the hotel was lovely. It has a European/British country hotel feel and is surrounded by trees. We booked 2 corner rooms and on the days it did snow it was so tranquil to watch the falling snow particularly at night when the grounds were lit. The food was good and there was a snack corner with free snacks - biscuits, jellies, popcorn, marshmallows, coffee, tea and juices - throughout the day. The rooms had large jacuzzis but no on site onsen. There was free transport out of the hotel but you had to find your own way back. We found it was easiest just to get the restaurants to call us taxis. We opted for half board but I would advise others to book not more than half your dinners at the hotel as there are so many good restaurants in Hakuba. Finally the best part - the exemplary service. From the time we checked in to the time we left, the service was faultless. Kudos to the staff. Highly recommend.

From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, the staff made our stay wonderful. We were greeted with tea and sat in front of their fireplace while we got checked in. We immediately decided to extend our stay by 3 nights and they were really accommodating. Our room was beautiful, with a huge comfy bed and a lovely bathroom. It was really clean. The staff were so happy to help with whatever we asked, and they have a driver on site who takes you to and from the ski slopes. They even organise pick up and drop off of your ski equipment.

I would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed here for our honeymoon and they made it feel so magical, and even gave us a gift. We can't wait to come back here!

We stayed at this hotel in early March for 5 nights and I have to say it was of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.
From the moment we arrived we were treated very well by staff that actually seem to enjoy helping guests.
Nothing was too hard for them to help you with. Transport was available to the nearby snowfields or restaurants at any time requested which was a great convenience as it was sometimes hard to walk in the slippery snow.
The room was clean and well appointed.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone who wants great customer service and a very welcoming place to stay.

This was a lovely traditional hotel, well located for skiing. We were transferred and collected to the slopes every day which were only about 10 mins away. The staff were exceptional and couldn't do enough for us. They would have our ski boots ready for us when we left the hotel and would book our taxis and recommend restaurants for the evening meals. The room was spacious with a living room as well as a bedroom. We had a nice view of snowy trees.

Stayed here at the end of January and really loved this luxurious hotel.

I stayed in a deluxe suite room with jacuzzi spa bath, and it was just fantastic. The bathroom was huge with a jacuzzi bath big enough for two people to lie down comfortably inside. The amenities were great, and the bathroom also had heated floor tiles and a Japanese toilet with heated seat.

The bedroom was of decent size, but it would be nicer if we had more floor space for our luggage. Both the bedroom and the bathroom had huge windows looking out to the snow and trees outside.

Breakfast was included in our hotel rate, and it was delicious and a lot of food! It included juice, salad and fruits, bread, egg/porridge, and soup! Every morning we were stuffed before heading out to the slopes.

The service at the hotel was excellent, and most of the staff could speak decent English. The hotel would provide free shuttle service to nearby places like the Alpico bus terminal and the base of the slopes.

The hotel was not really ski-in/ski-out; it was about five mins walk to the closest ski lifts in Sakka. If there was enough snow, we could also ski along this small path to Spicy Rentals, which was just across the hotel.

Though it was kinda hectic to go back to the hotel w/ all the ski equipment, the experience was still quite nice because once we entered building, we could leave our boots and skis at the entrance and change into slippers right away. The hotel staff would help us move our gear to the storage. Also, the hotel provided some small bites and drinks in the lounge area, so we just chilled in the lounge a little bit before heading back to our room for a hot jacuzzi.

We had dinner once at the hotel, and the food (Western cuisine) was really good. Other times, we just ate at various Japanese restaurants around Hakuba. We took taxi around as there was no other choice, and each way cost between JPY1500-2000.

We skiied in both Happo-One and Hakuba 47, and there was a lot of snow accummulation this season. Hakuba 47 was about 30 minutes away, and there was a free shuttle from Happo area.

Overall, it was one of my best skiing experience staying at the La Neige Higashikan. I will definitely return to this hotel in the future.

Indeed more European than those in Swiss or French Alps ski resort. Perfectly located in the middle of a quiet forest. Yet within a walking distance to major attractions such as ski lifts, hiking courses, cafes & restaurants.

Rooms are as fancy as shown in the photos of the hotel website. My partner fell in love with the hotel instantly and this has been our regular choice in the area ever since.

Service may depend on staff and I've experienced a little unpleasant moment in the past but I feel it's improved quite largely in the last few years and it seems perfectly okay recently.

The restaurant is very impressive - arguably the best french you could get in mountain resorts all over Japan.

Only regret is that you would expect a comfortable onsen experience in such a resort of Japan, which this hotel doesn't offer and you'd have to drive a few minutes to get one.

Stayed at la neige with our 6 year old daughter over CNY. The hotel itself is very centrally located and it was lovely staying in one of their log cabins. What however will make us return and also rave about this hotel is the staff and the service. They are amazingly friendly, pro-actively sort your itinerary out, make restaurant bookings including transport to and from the venue. In addition to that it's the little things. Being the first time to see snow and ski, our daughter was very upset at having to leave. To take her mind off of leaving the staff went outside and made 3 small snow bunnies for our daughter to decorate and also made an origami camera. They were fantastic and made our holiday a very memorable one.

The people at La Neige are so accommodating and welcoming as well as friendly, it is hard to put into words. Whilst the hotel could do with a little updating, this is discounted by how great the staff make the experience. We stayed for 7 nights skiing in Jan 12 and it was a great experience. From booking restaurants for you to taking you to the ski lifts to getting your boots and skis ready for you in the morning, they just couldn't do enough for you (always sincerely). We would return in a heart beat. Hakuba is a great resort and the skiing second to none - although the signage on the slopes is challenging...

Stayed here for 5 days in order to ski at Happo-one. The hotel is flawless. We stayed in a deluxe room which is HUGE and had a massive Jacuzzi bath. The only thing missing was a staff member with excellent english. Whilst everyone had some English it was poor at best. Other hotels in the area (eg Tokyu and Phoenix) had staff with flawless English...so if this is important to you...don't stay here. Having said this the staff would almost do anything for you and certainly made me feel like the most important guest in the place. They know you by name go above and beyond when it comes to service (we had a few probs due to language which is why I rated service 4 star...but their intention was clearly 6 star!). I intend to return here ASAP.

We were also beginners and found Happo-One to be excellent. There are different slopes (red run) for the more experienced at Happo-One as well. The hotel provides drop-off and pick-up to & from Happo-One. They also get your skis and ski boots ready everyday as you have your breakfast, and similarly, come out to help keep your skis & boots when you return from a day of skiing. The staff at La Neige Higashikan are THE BEST!! We took ski lessons from the Evergreen International Ski School which is conveniently located at the base of Happo-One. We were very happy with our instructor.
