Welcome to Rusutsu Lodges! Formally, Pension Lilla Huset. Located right in the heart of the Rusutsu ski area and less then a few minutes walk to both the main lift entrance and the Rusutsu Tower building. We are flanked by both 711 convenience store and Seiko Mart convenience store. A great place at a very reasonable price. We are open year round but be sure to book in advance as we are one of the most popular spots to stay outside of the resort accommodation. Currently under new management from the 2017 / 2018 season, we are trying to upgrade and improve an already great place.

Love this place. A small lodging with friendly staff. Prime location, between Rusutsu Resort and Westin Hotel. We got the bus from Sapporo New Chitose (must book bus online). The bus stopped at the Rusutsu Resort carpark and it’s a 2 minutes walk to Rusutsu Lodges (you can asked them to pick you up, dragging suitcases across when it’s snowing is no fun). We stayed in East Wing, with traditional Japanese bedroom and small kitchen and private bathroom/toilet - enough for a family of 3. Breakfast wasn’t included in our booking, but no need to worry, Seicomart and 7/11 convenient stores were very close to Rusutsu Lodges. We bought plenty of ready made food from there and heat them up in our little kitchen. We had lunch at the cafe in Rusutsu Lodges, nice food and the staff all very friendly (in the main building, opposite the reception area) We opted for this lodge because it’s small, more personal with friendly owner and staff. A self contained accommodation in a prime location. Around the lodge: There’s a rental shop near Seicomart, you got 10% off if you stayed at Rusutsu Lodges. We rented gloves, goggles, a sledge and ski suit for snow activities: Dog sledging held at Westin and Snowboard school at Rusutsu Resort. We bought cream puffs at Rusutsu Resort, delicious! Must try the new onsen Kotobuki No-Yu at the Vale Rusutsu (Rusutsu Resort - North wing, 6th floor) - amazing!!! (Pay at the reception). Walk 5 minutes and you’ll find Wakasaimo confectionary shop, you’ll wanna buy everything from there. The East Village restaurant (in the same building) looked inviting but was shut when we went.

We stayed for 5 nights and had a terrific stay. A big thank you to Kaori and the team for looking after us so well. Location Excellent. Several minutes walk to the Rusutsu Resort where the lifts and Gondola commence from, very easy walk, but we walked over in our regular shoes then changed into ski boots as there was ample storage. Two convenience stores right next door, plus a couple of bars/restaurants also next door. We also used the resort public bath several times, which was great for a post ski soak. Food Also excellent, breakfast was included each morning and chef Guilio went out of his way to accomodate the vegetarians in our group. We dined in the in house restaurant one evening and were treated to the most divine Shabu Shabu meal. Highly recommend! Guilio’s culinary delights were a most welcomed ‘hidden gem’ surprise. Room We had a relatively spacious triple room facing the mountain, when it wasnt bucketing with snow the view was great. Only suggestion is the room needs more hooks & hangers & somewhere to store large luggage. The rooms and bathroom facilities were immaculately clean. Beds were firm, in the Japanese way but were comfortable.

Loved this place. The location is really good in that you can easily walk to the tower pair chair or gondola to start your day. On a pow day though the Gondola was up and going first. The room we had was big enough and was basic pension western style. Beds were hard but hey this is Japan and they are all hard. The breakfasts were great, diverse and large. This is a really good option if you can't afford to stay in the resort or prefer a more authentic experience.

Simiko, Katsuyuki and their daughter Yumi were amazingly hospitable. They run a very good business keeping the place very tidy and preparing the perfect big breakfast for a big day on the slopes. The rooms are basic and include everything you need. The beds are firm (like everywhere in Japan);the pillows are also firm and grainy. I grabbed a spare blanket and used it for extra cushioning. We had a room that had two beds in it and a second room which was a traditional Japanese style tea room with tatami mat floors. The seven eleven actually does really good meals as does the convenient store next door. There are a few restaurants but Im told you should book in advance for those. Love it and will be back.

My partner and I very much enjoyed our stay at Lilla Huset last month. The owners are a lovely family and, although they do not speak much english, communicating was not an issue. The pension is run bed and breakfast style and the rooms are serviced daily (fresh water, clean cups, emptied garbage etc.). The location is excellent. Not too far from the gondola and restaurants but still nice to be out of the large resort complex/tower hotel area. You can rent ski gear at the adjacent 'Amuse Rental' shop at a discount (we were not told this at the Pension but the rental shop gave this to us after we wrote Lilla Huset as our address). Breakfast is hearty and interesting, rooms are clean and washrooms have nice touches like razors and toothbrushes should you have forgotten yours. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Skane room (pronounced Sk-o-neh), 3 beds, and it had a nice view of the ski hill.

This is my second stay at Lilla Huset. The traditional rooms in the main building are comfortable, as is the western room I am in at present in the building adjacent. Clean, warm, comfortable, great breakfast, helpful hosts. It is an easy walk to the little local restaurant strip, the resort hotel, and the East Gondola is across the road, 5 minutes walk, for access to the main runs on East and Mt Isola. Rusutusu is a great resort and this is a wonderful informal place to stay for those who do not want a grand hotel experience.

Very simple and comfortable Pension, a short walk from the main resort, local restaurants and ski amenities. We have come here for the last four years and love it though the resort is getting busier and busier each year as more people discover Rusutsu. Breakfast and dinner are always interesting with plenty to eat and the service is great. Same faces keep on turning up and we'll be back next year I hope.

We stayed 3 nights at Pension Lilla Huset and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The owner and his wife were extremely warm and friendly. We were picked up and dropped off to and from our buses. the rooms were clean and quiet, and the breakfast was simply delicious and super filling. Staying at Lilla Huset also qualified us for a discount at the local gear hire shop, which is a great bonus. Highly recommend this quiet gem for accommodation in Rusutsu.

We've now stayed twice at Lilla Huset during the ski season and find its location, friendly staff, and home cooked food to be pretty hard to beat. It's not 5 star, but has everything you need for a stay of a few days to a few weeks of hitting the slopes (unless of course you need a wave pool, carousel or talking magical tree- though those are just across the road at the main resort...). If you choose to eat in then the breakfasts are big, and the dinners 3 course and change daily. There are also a bunch of great little restaurants for dinner within 5-10min walk, as well as the seicomart, 7-11, and pita truck within a minute. Not all the family speak English, but communication is still very easy. All up this place is hard to beat, and if we're fortunate enough to get back to Rusutsu again this is where we'll be staying.

We stayed at the lilla huset in march 2013 for 5nights and we highly recommend you stay with them. The location is great just a 3min walk to the slopes. The rooms are very comfortable, we had the japenese room with bathroom. We also had breakfast and dinner, the food is great large servings to keep you going through the day. There is also a convience store next door and ski hire close as well. The owners are truly wonderful hosts! Best value around town, lilla huset made our rusutsu snow experience even better.
