Amazing stay at the Mallyan. Room had everything you needed, and very comfortable, all the staff were friendly, polite and helpful, certainly a credit to the hotel. Food was amazing but I recommend you do a smaller version of the fish and chips, best fish ever but portion far too big, couldn't manage it all and I hate wasting good food!!! Will certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

They really know how to look after you here. We splashed out on a Valley View Suite, and loved it. The view was tremendous, especially sunrise and sunset, the room and bathroom were spacious as was all the furniture, and every little detail was well thought out for a very comfortable stay. The weather was chilly but the room was plenty warm enough. We were also well looked after in the restaurant - huge portions! - maybe the menu wasn't very exciting, but there was something for everyone and all very well cooked and presented. Although we walked quite a bit in the area, we didn't visit the Mallyan Spout waterfall itself, as it was muddy underfoot and we were advised it can be slippy there. However there is lots of lovely walking round the village itself, beyond the railway station and up to Darnholme. And that's without going to Whitby.........

This was a return visit to the wonderful Mallyan Spout Hotel. After a few very stressful weeks we chose this place to relax and recharge. We stayed in room 11 that had amazing views from the window and plenty of beautifully furnished space to relax in. The dinner in the restaurant was amazing and the atmosphere relaxing and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent too. The staff were very friendly and clearly have pride in the hotel . We will be back.

Had a short break as an early birthday celebration for my wife. The extra bank holiday made it possible for family to travel from Bath to share the weekend together. We all enjoyed being at the Mallyan, rooms 9 & 3 were clean and very comfortable. The food was, as always, superb with plenty of choice, it was actually difficult to decide what to have. The Yorkshire Breakfast certainly sets you up for the day whether it’s walking, sightseeing or totally relaxing. The menu choice of dishes also covers most dietary requirements. The staff are a credit to the hotel nothing is too much trouble. Everything is done with a smile. For my recent booking Joe did everything he could so that nothing spoilt the birthday surprise. The Mallyan Spout is a Hotel that I would recommend to anyone.

Hard to fault. Great location. Lovely old hotel, with many original features and lots of public space. Breakfast excellent and very friendly and efficient staff. Nice bar. Only query is why it is a 3*: a solid 4* for us. Would heartily recommend it.

Just back from staying at the Mallyan Spout. What a beautiful hotel We upgraded to a superior double room which was very spacious with beautiful furniture and a very comfy bed. Reception staff were very polite and accommodating. The bar staff, waiters, waitresses were very friendly and polite. We also had an evening meal in the restaurant which was fabulous. The breakfast was also very good and hearty. On checkout the owner spoke to me as on the booking they had a joke and thought I was a lord, which I am clearly not but I am now known as Lord Jacques Peter. If you are looking for a bit of luxury at a beautiful hotel then I highly recommend this hotel in beautiful surroundings, then look no further. Thank you to all the staff for a fabulous stay.

Stayed here with my partner before covid. It was a lovely well run hotel with great staff. Upon arriving we asked about some of the staff that we remembered from our previous visit, most of who had moved on. Obviously this happens, however some of the replacements are just not ‘Mallyan’. Anyone who was a regular visitor will know what I mean. We ate in the small bar where the barman was attentive but heavy handed and a little short with us. It seems we were a burden to him. The waiter was very good. We didn’t get his name but said he was local and from the next village. Food was good. I had a cod and chips which was lovely and fresh. The room was good. A lovely bath, the stairs were a challenge however after eating so much food! Unfortunately when we were in bed we started hearing voices from the lower levels. We recognised the loud laugh of the barman straight away. This continued for some time. What made it worse was the person with the same laugh and a female voice kept going out smoking to an area which was by our window which we had open so slightly. We shut the window after the third time. Eventually the sounds stopped after 12. We would have rang reception but upon check in we were advised that there was no night manager on that night. A lovely hotel, some staff are great. The food was lovely and filling, and the staff after work parties sound fun.. just not when we are trying to sleep.

Superb hotel as always, service impeccable. Stayed on winter deal B&B plus two course dinner or £15 credit towards dinner menu. Food lovely as always, ate in restaurant first night and Hunt Bar second night and you can mix the menus in either location. Room was Room 12 Beck Hole which is a superior room on 1st floor overlooking the valley. Gorgeous. Ample parking out front. Love coming here and hope not too long before our next visit. Recommend highly.

A great experience and wonderful service. I firmly recommend eating in the back bar and when you do you must order the chicken parmesan (chicken parmo) And the view from the rooms particularly the suites is glorious.
