Detailed Reviews
Own transport is essential as these apartments are in a semi-industrial area in the suburbs about 10-15 minutes away from the city centre of Reykjavik. The place was overbooked when we arrived and we had to spend some time waiting for an apartment to become available. It did not seem to match the photos that we had booked online. The place was decorated like show room for IKEA but was much smaller than expected. It was hard to find room to open our suitcases. We ended up using the dining table for surface storage. The bathroom had the strangest arrangement with a heated towel rail INSIDE the shower. There was no shelf space or storage space for toiletries. Only enough toiletries were supplied for one person and more towels were also needed. The kitchen was too tiny for cooking a meal but adequate for a short stay. The large bed and quality linen were comfortable. The apartments are surrounded by a network of arterial roads and some high rise buildings. There was a cafe across the car park but little else within walking distance. The views of the mountains are in the far distance (if it isn't raining). Good value by Icelandic standards but not 5 stars.

We had a very comfortable 4 night stay. Being just outside of the centre meant easy access to the ring roads and an excellent mountain view. We particularly liked the less-waste feature of the hotel: guests were invited to reuse whatever had been left by previous guests. Things included unopened breakfast cereals and cartons of milk, toiletries, spices and even fresh fruit all kept in a very clean utility room. Free access to a washing machine and dryer is also available. Customer service was knowledgeable and fantastic. Recommend and hope to return.

Fantastic apartment on the outskirts of Reykjavik with fabulous views. The kitchen was fully equipped with a microwave & the apartment was spotless. Very large bathroom with shower & as the heating was on constantly lovely & toasty warm towels after each shower.
There is a ‘Bonus’ supermarket (which is the cheapest of the supermarkets in Iceland) across the road from the apartment with an amazing bakery adjacent. There is also a great little restaurant under the apartment block next door with amazing freshly cooked pizzas & sandwiches that also do take out.
The apartment is about 20 mins from the centre of Reykjavik but there is a bus stop less than 5 mins from the apartment which takes you into the City Centre (The number 2 bus). You do need the exact money for the bus as the drivers don’t carry change. It was 550ISK each way per person when we were there so I advise taking some cash with you or there is a cash point at the airport & several in the City. We booked a driver to collect us from the airport which was £88 each way but worth it for the stress free arrival & departure to and from the airport. We also got a taxi back to the appt at 1am following a Northern Lights tour which cost just over £30.
Overall a fantastic place to stay!

The first week of February of 2022 we hired an appartment from Blue Mountain Apartments in Kopavogur, a district of Reykjavik.
At first glance the apartment looked fine. But we found out soon that there were only towels for one person. The next thing we noiticed was the
weird odor that was in the space.
When we wanted to cook, we could only find one pan and that's not enough to prepair a meal for two persons.
We send an e-mail and they promised to bring the towels, the pan and an airspray the next morning.
So they did.
We sprayed and we sprayed in an attemp to get rid of the very unpleasnt smell. However, when we returned in the evening the bad odor wasn't gone. In fact it was worse than at the time we had left.
At this moment the stench was like rotten fish.
We decides to clean the refrigerator, because it seemed the smell came out from it.
Next day we cleaned the fridge again, because the smell was still in the rooms.
Because there were no other rooms available, we made plans to leave to find another hotel.
But when we arrived the fourth night after a day out, we found in the same corridor a room where the door was wide open.
Guests had probably left and seemed to have forgotten to shut the door.
We exchanged our stinking fridge with the one in that room and it was an effective action, because the smell of rotten fish in our room was gone the same evening.
Back in The Netherlands we tried to get a compensation from the organistation for our four lost days, but they came up with a ridiculous proposal that we of course declined.
The only real positive thing to mention is the lovely view on the frozen lake and the far away misty snowy mountains...

Great place to base your exploration of the south west of Iceland. About 2 km to the main ring road, just off the 413, super pizza place over the road, access to gym if too many pizzas consumed:-) Plenty of parking, on a bus route as well. About 35/40 mins into Reykjavik centre.
The place itself was warm and cosy, well presented, contact numbers and live people now and then if your unsure of anything, weather for example! It's not the biggest apartment in the world, bed/sit/kitchen/diner and a well appointed bathroom with walk in shower but we were only using it as a base not moving in.
We'd certainly stay here again.

We loved this apartment - top floor with a wonderful view of the snowy mountains. The bed was extremely comfortable and the apartment was very clean with all of the facilities you may need. It's around 10-15 drive into Reykavik and a perfect base for exploring the Golden Circle and beyond. Nice bathroom with a good shower as well as free parking. We stayed 4 nights in total and would definitely stay again, perfect views and location! they provide earplugs etc for light sleepers. The only thing that could be improved would be to maybe add a few extra pillows on the bed as the current pillows are extremely soft.
Overall, a fabulous stay!

Absolutely loved our stay here, we stayed for 4 nights. Our room was spacious, light and very modern. We had great views of fields and general surroundings, it was great to watch the world go by. Kitchen area was spotless and equipped with everything you need, decor was simple yet modern. Bed was super comfy! The living room area was the best thing about the apartment, a large sofa, table, TV, again, all very clean and tidy, and comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Around a 10-15 minute drive from Reykjavík, would 100% stay here again when visiting Iceland and would definitely recommend the Blue Mountain Apartments.

Blue Mountain Apartments are located about a 15 minute drive outside of Reykjavik City Centre so a rental really is a must!
All entrances are operated by personal codes which makes check in really easy and no need to worry about keys throughout your stay.
The studio itself was well cleaned before arrival and had everything needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. From towels, spare pillows, extra blankets and kitchen accessories. Really well catered for.
Plenty of storage space and the views you get from the top floors are stunning with lots of light coming through during the day.
We had an unbelievable time in Iceland and Blue Mountain Apartments really helped make the trip. Home from home.

We stayed in a corner room and it was fabulous! Plenty spacious for the 3 of us and views were wonderful! There are no staff at the facility, but you have access to extra towels, sheets, tp, etc easily, and the staff is extremely responsive by email. I generally heard back in 10 minutes or less. You definitely need to have a car to stay here but parking is free and plentiful. Grocery store across the street and a nice size fridge and also microwave, and stove top. They provide plenty of plates, utensils etc. All in all a wonderful experience and much less expensive than staying in Reykjavik! We loved it.

We found the apartment to be very spacious, clean and modern. Only negative is related to the location along a noisy road. Not ideal for a light sleepers. This is an efficient, straight forward, self-help operation. As we experienced in the rest of Iceland, accommodation prices are higher than expected.

Yes, but from computer in lobby at hotel. I booked a day or 2 before. I checked forecast for a greater chance of catching it. When I tried to book online through my computer most of the tours will not collect you from hotel. You usually have to meet somewhere else
TheWhiteHorseInn asked a question Nov 2018
Gloucestershire, United Kingdom42 contributions4 helpful votesWhat are the transport links like in this area? Is it easy to catch a bus to the city or other tourist attractions?
We rented a car, it just made things easier. There were buses, but I didn't see very many of them. The hotel is about an hour from the airport. And to explore using tour companies can be very expensive. When planning our trip I noticed that the cost of transportation from the airport to the hotel was just about half the cost of renting a car for 4 days. When renting a car, make sure that your credit card covers the car insurance in Iceland. (VERY IMPORTANT)
Yes, they have different pots and pans, and pretty much everything else you need.
We did not visit Blue Lagoon but noticed it available by hand bus line. Not a problem.
