Detailed Reviews
This is nice spot to retreat to from the city.
You need a car and it is only a 15 minute drive to city center.
The young man who owns it, Carl, runs a very nice hotel.
Likewise his Irish father is an excellent host.
Wonderful terrace which overlooks the setting sun and the lazy flow of the river.
Unfortunately there are 2 sets of high extension wires that climb the hillside, but remember,
this is the home city for Airbus. And you will see planes taking off all day long from any vantage point. In fact, this hotel does cater to many Airbus engineers.
There is a well stocked library/sitting room in the main area. It is really quite nice with its overstuffed leather chairs and picture windows. The rooms are ok but this sitting area is really the reason to choose this hotel. Choose this hotel if you want to be out in the country. They have a smaller pool but we did not use it.

This hotel is a really charming gem in the French countryside but within short striking distance of Toulouse. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully designed in an old French kind of way. Carl and Conner looked after us so well, the views are wonderful from the rooms at the front and the pool is big enough to enjoy a cooling dip when it gets too hot. They don't do dinner, but if you want to stay put in the evening they will put on a very reasonable "dinner tray" for you.

A work colleague recommended this hotel to me and it lived up to expectations. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff were very helpful in recommending the best places to eat. There is a nature reserve less than a kilometer from the hotel which is well worth a visit. If you enjoy birds then you are in for a treat. It is difficult to find at night so I would recommend trying to arrive during the daytime. It is also a shame they don't provide eggs for breakfast.

This hotel is a bit difficult to find and the directions on the website are confusing. If you have a problem, call the hotel and they will give you excellent directions. If you are driving from the airport, try to avoid Toulouse rush hour as that will really delay you.
Once you finally get to the hotel, splurge and book a river view suite. The sun sets over the river and it is very beautiful. My room had two easy chairs and a Juliet balcony. Perfect to watch the sun set after a long flight. Plus mini bar with wine and glasses.
The hotel serves a really extensive continental breakfast with cereals, yogurt, cheese, bread, croissants, and fresh fruit. You can sit and look at the river while you eat breakfast - either on the terrace or in the lovely lounge.
The hotel has the feel of an old chateau that has seen better days, but it is charming. And the bathrooms are up-to-date. I had a massive bath tub and a separate shower.
The staff is very friendly, helpful, and responsive.

The hotel is located in Vielle-Toulouse, isolated from the city and the nearby village, so you will probably need a car to get there. Once you are there, you will enjoy a fantastic view and one of the most charming hotels I've ever seen. The hotel was decorated by someone who paid attention to details. They rooms all seem to be very individual, just like the entire place. There is a pool outside, which I did not have the time to use. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing. If I will stay in Toulouse again, this will absolutely be my first choice. You probably pay even less than for a B&B in the city centre. I went there because I had to work in the city, but now I even consider returning just for a short holiday.

Beautiful small boutique style hotel with great views of the river.
Not all rooms have a river view so be careful when reserving. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. It's my second time here and am planning to return again soon.

We are a couple touring SW France by car. We spent a couple of nights at La Flanerie hotel in October. The hotel is some 10 minutes by car south of the city so having a car is preferable - parking is easy in town in one of the large underground car parks.
The hotel is a large established one sited on a hill overlooking the river - easy to find and access with good car parking. We had a lower room overlooking the river from our balcony - marvelous views from the bend in the river here. Our room was spacious with separate coffee table and chairs, TV (mainly french channels) and a very good shower and bath and toilet. Clean and well equipped. Breakfast (very good) was in the very spacious and elegant dining room and bar with marvelous views of the river and countryside. Host Carl was very helpful and speaks English (an Irish expat), plus lovely cat Saffron!

It is not really an airport hotel, but since it is only 10 miles, (16km), from Toulouse Blagnac airport it is the perfect antidote to the usual soulless airport hotel.
We stayed here a year ago and were thrilled to find such a gem. Our memory of last time was reinforced, this is the perfect place to stay as a location close to the airport without any of the m dullness usually associated with such places.
It is an old ivy covered characterful 'family house' situated high on a hill above the Garonne with a magnificent panorama and great sunsets. The bedrooms are very high standard indeed, immaculate and modern furnished and very clean and functional.
The only drawback is that it is really a B&B (bed and breakfast), establishment because there is no in - house restaurant; so for evening meal it is either eat out or do your own picnic on the terrace or in the lounge overlooking the river. The management are not only happy about this they encourage it. There is a bar though in the lounge where breakfast is taken and although small it is is very attractive.
Flanerie comes from the word flaneur meaning a lounger or laid back person, that describes the hotel ambience rather well, but not the management who are unfailingly helpful beyond mere duty.
We shall undoubtedly use it again; it would also be a good 'base station' for visits in the area.
I agree with other reviewers that it is not the most easy place to find and that the driveway is steep, narrow and with a hairpin, but we thought these to be minor irritations compared to the benefits.

The pictures on the website are extremely misleading. Maybe the hotel once used to look like this, but now it is very rundown, in need of painting and refurbishing. One can see the river below, but there are electrictiy cables in the way, and on the other side of the river is an industrial area. The pool has an ugly crooked fence around it, the plastic sunbeds and pillows look weatherworn and old. Inside the hotels smells of cheap lemondetergent and when it wears of it is plain musty. Again, maybe the rooms used to look clean and freshly painted, but our 'superior' room definately didn't. We couldn't find the owners, when we wanted to have a drink on the terrace, where nobody had bothered to put the plastic chairs down and to sweep it. After a restless night, because of the beetles we found under the bed and interrupted by numerous flies, we couldn't wait to leave the hotel in the morning. We didn't bother with breakfast, so no
comment on that. Our advice is "Don't Go!!!".

Response from Flannerie, Propriétaire at Hotel La Flanerie
Responded 13 Aug 2014
Thank you for having taken the time to write a review of our hotel. We are disappointed that your stay didn't live up to what you had expected of our hotel. We feel however that your comments may be related to the fact that when you arrived at 10:30 in the morning your room was not yet ready. We explained to you that our check in time is 13h as indicated on your reservation form, but that my wife and I would do everything possible to have your room ready sooner. The bar and terrace open for business at 13h and so at 10:30 am the chairs were not yet turned down or the terrace swept. We however granted your request to be allowed to wait on the terrace while we prepared your room. If you were not able to find us in order to ask for a drink it was because both myself and my wife were in the process of preparing your room. As for the pictures of our hotel they where all taken within the last 3 years. Our customers have provided pictures of the hotel with the dates of when the pictures were taken on trip advisor. It is clear to see from these photos that there is no industrial estate opposite the hotel please see photo entitled 'in the lap of nature' taken by one of our customers. The electric cables are also visible from this photo. It is the law in France that all swimming pools must have a fence around it in order to protect young children from drowning. Our swimming pool was completely renovated this year 2014 and has new sun beds available. All 12 of our rooms are decorated individually. If we had been made aware that the decoration of you room was not to your satisfaction we would have changed your room to one more suited to your tastes. The bed in you room had a base which touched the floor on all four sides making it impossible for any beetles to crawl under the bed or even for you to be able to look under the bed. Our hotel is situated in a wooded park not far from a river and so we use a citron based air freshener to help deter mosquitoes. It is very regrettable that you did not feel able to express any of your concerns directly to us during your stay. I feel that my wife and I are very approachable and would have done everything in our power to rectify any problems. Once again I apologise that our hotel did not meet with your expectations.

Loved the old world charm of this place, a nature lover's retreat to the south of Toulouse. It would make a lovely honeymoon spot.
Only 15 minutes from the airport, it's idea for a stopover on the way south.
