The chateau is rented out in it's entirety. No one outside of your party will have access to the chateau except the caretakers who live more than 100 meters from the main building. At the foot of the Pyrénées, surrounded by lakes, forests and stunning scenery, you will find the idyllic Château de RHODES. A beautiful home which is perfect for all generations, it’s the ideal place to relax and unwind, yet it offers an impressive array of activities and beautiful towns within a short drive. Dating back to the 18th century, when it was re-built after the French Revolution, the château is full of character with 18th and 19th century antiques, beautiful traditional furnishings and Persian rugs. The complete restoration has been a labour of love for its owners who have spent years updating and restoring the home to a fine standard, creating a historical and magical ambience. Walk up the stately steps into the welcoming lounge and you will immediately notice the warm and classical surroundings of this wonderful holiday home. Decorated with traditional furnishings and elegant French style with warm tones, the 14 bedrooms, eleven of which are en-suite, include two master doubles at the front with glorious views of the parkland and three interconnecting rooms ideal for families with young children. Explore the house and you’ll also find a cinema room, library, a quirky and fun games room in addition to an antique billiards table, plus plenty of space to kick back and relax on the sumptuous sofas.A huge new outdoor pool with seating for 20-30 people, an in ground jacuzzi and a sauna have been added for 2022!! A fitness room an additional sauna have also been recently been added to the amazing list of amenities across the home. Daily breakfasts can be arranged as well as your own chef to prepare you an unforgettable feast, perfect for the wonderful terrace dining room where up to thirty guests can come together for a convivial meal overlooking the château’s spectacular gardens. As well as a characterful château kitchen with a magnificent log-burning fire, there is an impressive professional kitchen with all the equipment a keen cook could wish for. You could spend all day in the twenty acre parkland, sun-bathing by the heated swimming pool with the view of the Pyrénées, finding a shady spot under one of the many ancient trees, exploring by the streams or listening to the peaceful flow of the river that runs through the grounds. Have a lazy game of pétanque, cycle around on one of the château’s five bikes or play tennis on the fabulous tennis court which is of a professional standard. There is a delightful walking path encircling the house and within 500m keen cyclists can join a well-known trail of 40km through glorious landscapes. Set in the heart of the Natural Regional Park of the Ariège Pyrénées, outdoor activities such as cycling, swimming, kayaking, fishing and horse-riding are in abundance amongst its lakes, mountains and forests. There are also many beautiful villages and towns to discover such as Foix (20km) with its medieval castle perched on a hill or St. Lizier (25km), one of France’s Plus Beaux Villages with UNESCO World Heritage status. The nearest village to the château, about 5 minutes by car, dates back to medieval times and has a couple of small supermarkets, a bakery, butchers as well as a tourist office. Whether a family re-union or a special holiday with friends, Château de RHODES is a unique and peaceful retreat in a very special setting in this glorious part of southern France.

We stayed at the Chateau for a yoga teacher training over 3 weeks. The property is huge, has amazing grounds, and lead to various nature trails in the mountains or along the river. The chateau itself is gorgeous. It has retained its historical character, and despite being built in the late 1700, it is incredibly comfortable. All rooms and living rooms are tastefully decorated. Beds are highly comfortable. The kitchen is ginormous which means there’s ample space to cook for over 30 people. There’s a sauna, jacuzzi, and a well-equipped gym. My favourite part of the Chateau was the conservatory which was so cozy when it rained, and so warm and luminous when the sun was out. A huge thanks to David, Hiroko, and especially Anne and François who catered for everything we needed, and were thoughtful in every way (in particular the handmade all natural soaps which Anne makes so beautifully!).

We spent 7d a t CdR July 2022 with large family group (24). Pleased to say, expectations were exceeded. Great care has gone into the refurbishment and appointing of the property - which has largely retained an authentic 19C vibe, despite modernisation. Rooms are tastefully decorated and artworks abound. Large and gorgeous pool (though access could be better for anyone with mobility issues). Loads of space inside and out. The site manager and chef Elly (? sp) and his Thai wife Weepa were attentive but unobtrusive hosts. We choose to be fully catered and the standard was very good and they were responsive to various dietary needs. Despite being fairly luxurious the general feeling was relaxed and homely. Overall I felt good value for money given the facilities and hospitality. Well done Chateau de Rhodes! Cyclists, note, CdR, is about 400yds from a "Voie Verte" - an off-road cycle track all the way to Foix and west to Saint Girons and beyond.

Thank you for your glowing review. The mobility issue with the pool (the steps are a bit high) are well noted and we will ameliorate that off season. Thank you for mentioning the Voie Verte as well. It's really a nice ride for avid bikers. We hope to host you again.. Thank you.

Catching up with seven families, 14 adults and 13 kids was never going to be easy but the Chateau lived up to and exceeded our expectations!
The facilities were amazing - the pool, fully equipped pool house, jacuzzi, hammocks and large decked seating in the shade; there was something for everyone!
The house is huge, well furnished and homely and walking through it hearing constant conversation and laughing was good for the soul….
The chef and grounds manager who lived on site was exceptional, he went out of his way to ensure we had a great time, with his jovial and welcoming attitude. His Thai wife made us a lovely Thai meal one night too!
Hot afternoons were spent with the kids in the river in the shade and early morning bike rides into the nearby village (4kms by bike along a lovely bike path) for a coffee and for croissants were always very popular!
A great way to catch up with very special friends and something we all wish we could do again!
Thanks very much!

25 of us, all from one family, have just spent the most wonderful week at Chateau de Rhodes. With an age range of 3 to 73 everyone was thrilled with what Chateau de Rhodes had to offer. We booked a year ago, the photos looked great but in reality the Chateau is far far better than the photos suggested. The new pool is stunning, the upgraded bathrooms are brilliant and the new decking area is a delight and a wonderful place to gather for pre dinner drinks. We had breakfast and dinner catered for us everyday by Elie and his fabulous team. The food was great and incredibly reasonable and made the holiday work for us all so well. Wine was also available which was excellent and again so reasonable. I had lots of correspondence with both David the owner and Elie before our trip. Everything I asked about and asked for was addressed immediately and nothing was too much trouble, including the hire of a piano! There was definitely something for everyone here, magnificent salons, beautifully furnished, a gym, games room, hot tub by the pool, chickens and goats to feed, lovely walks and plenty of quiet corners to sit and read. To be together and be part of a big happy family was a total joy and it’s hard to imagine a better place than Chateau de Rhodes to have been.

Dear Sally, Thank you for joining us and for giving us this most glowing review. Our team works hard to please and it seems in this instance, we succeeded with flying colours. You focused on many of the new additions we added for 2022, so it's so nice to see that these additions were noticed and taken into consideration. Perhaps we will have the opportunity to host you again in the future. You were wonderful guests.

This is a beautifully spacious chateau with lovely views and has been tastefully renovated by the owner.
We had a simply splendid family week here, 21, of us, 10 adults and 11 children!
The bedrooms are large and the bathrooms have been modernised to have walk in showers. There are nice lounges to sit and table tennis, table football and a pool table inside if the weather is bad. Outside, the swimming pool and sauna lovely when the weather is hot! There is plenty of shade.
There is a very large conservatory with a very long dining table, perfect for our family. We could all sit and eat together!
But the piece de resistance must be Elie and his lovely wife who worked so hard to feed us all! Quite an undertaking ! They worked tirelessly. With always a smile. The food was delicious and he catered for all our various intolerances brilliantly! He even made 19 pizzas with us, all different, one lunchtime! A real gem!
Great memories!

Elie and his wife gave us an excellent welcome, and we felt at home immediately. The surrounding area is beautiful, and we had a great time at the Chateau. The pool area is fantastic for all ages, and we had a great dinners in the solarium. I'd recommend this for both families and large groups of friend, we were somewhat noisy and recieved zero complaints as there are no neighbours. 10/10 would go again

My brother and his now wife choose this place in order to bring the 2 families (25 of us) together to celebrate there marriage.

The house was stunning, with amazing grounds, swimming pool, tennis courts, games room, cinema room etc. I could not fault the owners who where nothing but helpful and kept the place spotless. We did have one night where David cooked for us and have to say was well worth it.
The children ranging from 1 to 16 loved the place and found plently to do around the house, leaving the adults time to relax and enjoy themselves.
Also would like to point out that its ideal located for the local village, cave tours, so lovely France towns and or course a vist to Carcossone.
Would certainly recommend this to anyone who fancies some luxury at a reasonable price.

I stayed at the Chateau de Rhodes in the summer of 2012 with my wife and our three children, plus two sets of friends and their kids. So in total, 6 adults and 6 kids (ages 1yr to 8 yrs). We all loved the place, it really was a fantastic house and area to visit. There was something there for all of us (no matter what age) and the kids loved the pool. The owners were a delight and couldn't do enough for us, they were so accomodating and made us feel really welcome. The house was absolutely beautiful and perfectly clean and tidy. We will definitely be recommending Chateau de Rhodes to our other friends, and can't wait for our next visit.

Just back from 3 weeks at the Chateau de Rhodes. We've rented a big place each year for the past 5 years. Our family group ranges in age from 10 months to 75 years, and everyone was unanimous that this year was the best ever. The huge space inside and outside makes it really easy for everyone to enjoy themselves without getting on top of one another and there's lots to do - table tennis, swimming pool, bikes, tennis, boules, TV, even bat watching! And it's nice to find an old property where the modernisation has been done properly - all the electrics work, and there's lots of hot water!
We ate in pretty much every day, although there's a good restaurant in the next village. The kitchen and dining room are really well equipped - lots and lots of pots and pans, cooking knives, etc etc and enough plates, glasses and knives and forks to cater for an army. Several dishwashers, a walk-in fridge, a deep fat fryer . . . . .amazing!
And Tony and David were always quick to come and help sort things out whenever we needed them.
A great holiday!!
