The outstanding feature of this Parador is the stunning views of the Mountains of the Picos de Europa. Our room had a huge, glazed Spanish Balcony which looked out directly onto the mountain peaks just a short distance away. Beware, however, that the lift does not go beyond the first floor and reaching our room entailed a further three flights of stairs, totalling 25. The staff, who are very pleasant and helpful, were eager to help us with our luggage on arrival but less keen the next morning, when they were busy with check-outs. As at most paradors out of season, there does not appear to be much in the way of staff beyond those directly engaged in reception or the bars and cafeterias. The temperature was unusually cold for Spain (about 15C). The rooms are provided with heating (This is the mountains, after all! ) but it did not come on until 7.30p.m. When it did, it was very efficient. The food is average. There is a restaurant which has a good reputation just across the road but that was closed and the nearest town is some distance away. Private (not secure) parking.

Hotel's Favourite
We had a great stay in this parador and made various walks in the Picos de Europa. The rooms are very cosy and spacious. We had breakfast and diner, which were very good, accompanied by good wines. The environment is wonderful.

A stunning location for this mountain lodge hotel. Food was excellent and rooms had wonderful views of the mountains. Unfortunately the bar terrace overlooked the entrance and car park rather than the mountains and no sun loungers were provided to sit back and soak up the mountain air. The cable car was not working when we were there but this is not part of the hotel. However as the trip up the mountain was a key part of our holiday we were disappointed the hotel did not tell us. A wonderful stay and great walks in the hills and wooded valleys and great drive up to the hotel itself.

If you are offered a delayed check-in to get a mountain view TAKE IT ! Utterly gorgeous area (ok, so we were very lucky with the weather!) Truthfully they were understaffed but in that chilled out space it didn't matter. All meals were lovely -loads of choice ! Mind you, there is basically nowhere else unless you drive ! It just reminded you that we are very small in the scheme of things ! Would go back !

Nice and cozy hotel Beautiful surroundings Easy parking and comfortable rooms Restaurant can be improved, not enough choice, as it's mostly the same as in the other paradors. Very good place to stay for a few days

I would have given this Parador a 5-star, but had to deduct one due to the service from the staff. We booked a Standard Double Room which faces the mountains, and it was fabulous! Very specious and clean. For the price that we had paid, we had expected better service from the staff of a hotel of this standard. They didn't bother go above and beyond for their guests. For example, when we desperately needed a taxi, they simply gave us a phone number to call ourselves. At many other hotels, the Front Desk staff will be willingly do these things for us, given that we are non-Spanish speakers, and it is not easy for us to communicate with the local drivers. At other times, their demeanour was just nonchalant when we asked them questions/seek assistance. Other than this, we had really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The location was perfect (near the cable car station and surrounded by majestic mountains). The room was spacious and clean, with a wonderful covered balcony where we can sit and enjoy the stunning view. The restaurant offers excellent food with a menu which allows you to have different meals for at least 3 nights, and breakfast was sufficient (we were allowed to order hot food from a side menu in addition to what was being offered on the buffet table). However, you have to book your slot for breakfast, and often, you don't get your desired time if you are late in doing that. Like I have said - overall, we enjoyed our stay here. The location is the hotel's greatest selling point, but the Front Desk really need training in good customer service.

Extremely good overall—excellent staff, varied cuisine, decor needs refresh. That is all i have to say. There should be no minimum review length particularly as my first review was deleted by the programme.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location, right underneath the Fuente De cable car (a must do). Stayed in 3 Paradors and all were superb buildings faultlessly decorated and good, spacious (we had standard) bedrooms. Lovely terrace area, high standard dining room, service and food. The thing that lets this hotel down is the reception staff. The welcome was very abrupt and minimal (there was no queue behind us!). Our stay was brief but we noticed a theme of chatty laughing staff when no guests were there but no effort with guests. When we asked about the cable car (and bear in mind the cable car is right next to the hotel and there is almost nothing else in Fuente De apart from the magnificent Picos) we got almost no useful info. When we checked out, no enquiry as to whether we had had a good stay, no goodbye, have a pleasant journey. Staff training required to reach Parador standards.

What a lovely hotel in a stunning location! We stayed here for one night whilst touring Spain and Portugal on motorcycles. The facilities were great with a dedicated motorcycle parking area. We had to book a specific time for both the evening meal and breakfast which proved to be a little inconvenient however the quality of the food good. The views from the hotel are second to none - probably the most scenic location we have ever stayed. We would definitely like to return
