My wife and I spent an evening in one of their barrel rooms "Fasshotel" situated on the banks of the Rhein. Check in was very easy and was done in the restaurant right next to the barrels. The room was very small but very clean. We were the only occupants of the five or so barrels as we stayed during the week. The room consisted of a bed and a bench. The restroom and showers were located inside the Bistro. It was a nice, relaxing evening as we watched the boat traffic along the river. The barrels are located next to a Bistro with outdoor seating and also very close to the parking lot and road. I would assume that it could be very noisy depending upon when you stayed. We opted for breakfast, which was very reasonably priced and served in the main hotel/restaurant, located about 300 meters away, in the main part of the town. There was no wi-fi offered at the barrels. To get wi-fi, you had to go to the main hotel lobby.…
A lovely location and we had a decent room overlooking the Rhine. I have stayed in thsi area many times on the other side in Boppard (much nicer) and from budget hotels to top class I never found anywhere like this in terms of lack of friendliness. On arrival the miserable hostess ( owner manager ?who knows they dont tell you anything) looked almost annoyed that we had arrived...we were handed a key with no real welcome or inquiry as to our trip parking etc and that with a baby..no help with bags etc. The very OCD hostess who really does have an attitude problem also served us dinner complained about me turning the table at an angle to for the baby chair then had a moan about my daughter putting her hand prints on her windows...decent dinner but again unfriendly service...won't be going back and to be honest they don't deserve the business...shame..I would avoid this place... BTW hope you enjoyed cleaning the windows ...they needed doing anyway !…
Very morose. The rooms were warm which is more than I could say about the staff. No option about meals, I asked for an alternative for my main meal and was given 5slices of cheese and 1 piece of bread.
We spent 5 days in this hotel which was situated directly on the river Rhein. Our balcony had uninterrupted views to the river; which was very busy with all sorts of ships, ferries, motor yachts and of freighters. The noise was bearable as during the night boat traffic ceased. Our room was very comfortable with excellent bathroom facilities, very clean. Breakfast was typical German fare. The owner of the hotel was also a Master Chef (Kuechenmeister), and dinner was always of a very high standard. The reception could improve - there was none; check-in and check-out was conducted in the dining room. Because of its location and access to ferries, boats, road and rail and the excellent meals we would stay here again...
I have visited this hotel several times over the years and have always had a reasonable reception considering our limited but passable German. This time we did not receive much of a welcome in an empty restaurant, we were seated without ceremony. The owner Torbin cooks great traditional food but if we had not known what to order in German there was no option of an English menu which would be a problem for some people. We were not shown the bottled wine menu which we might have purchased from, instead we had to buy wine by the glass. Having consumed an excellent main course we were not offered a sweet menu so we paid the bill and left feeling unappreciated. End of the season blues perhaps but I would not visit again.
We didn`t stay at the hotel, we called in for a Lager after walkng in the heat, the Beer was lovely "Koblenzer" and reasonably priced, they also served food and had a varied menu that seemed very nice, it was first class waiter service and what i did see of the hotel that looked first class too. An excellent watering hole and who knows we may get to be guest next time we visit Kamp-Bornhofen
This 3 star hotel is located directly on the Rhine riverbank. Excellent kitchen and resonable prices. The Rhine rivervalley is very beautiful, and there is plenty excursions possibilities. The valley is full of old castles and the Loreley cliff is nearby. I can warmly recommend this hotel and the location!
the hotel, is very clean, warm. The location is great, there bus sto and tram stop just across the street and it is within 20 mins walk from main train station. There is a good breakfast buffet with quite a choice. We loved it and I would definitely go back there.
We were staying at a different hotel, we went for a stroll and came across this place. We had a nice cold pint of beer with good service. We didn't go inside we sat outside as it was a lovely hot day. Later on that night we called in again for a nice dessert it was delicious and price was very good.
Accommodation was clean but basic, all rooms en suite. Downstairs rooms seemed to be more modern. generally nice bar, and relaxed atmosphere.. Good for walking from hotel to the Rhine. quiet location, although close to railway line. (Railway on both sides of the Rhine)
