Detailed Reviews
The hotel has two different buildings: one old building close to a busy road and a recent building, which has better comfort. We have stayed in the recent building. Bed is comfortable and the room had a lovely balcony to see the sunset. Fresh water was provided (two small bottles). Cleaning was good. Do not expect great amenities in the WC (this is a 3 stars hotel). The pool area is nice and even with the Covid-19 we had enough space to relax keeping the social distance needed. Breakfast was average but being in the countryside we would expect regional products. Not at all. All supermarket everyday products. Huge space to improve the quality here. We have also used the restaurant of the hotel to have dinner. Not much choice but food is tasty and with a regional side. Not sure why breakfast does not follow through this regional side. We have used the hotel to explore the surroundings, which was nice. Staff is friendly but being the busy season they all look very tired. We had a warm welcome at the reception desk from a lovely young woman.

I truly liked this hotel
Well equiped, particularly regarding the actual covid 19 situation.
Very nice rooms with a large bed, small fridge, safe, air conditioner and a great view!
Staff was gentle and available.
Great pool also with a marvelous view.
Breakfast wasn't perfect but acceptable.
The hotel's restaurant is a good option for meals.
I'll probably return in a weekend break.

We spent a night in this nice hotel. They have opened new facilities, with great rooms and suites. We enjoyed a very nice swimming pool in the afternoon after traveling from Lisbon in our trip to El Algarve. Picturesque rural area, with plenty of areas to visit around. Homemade plentiful (and tasty) dinner and great breakfasts to recover energies.

The hotel is nice, in the middle of nowhere and perfect to relax.
If you want to dinner out there are not many alternatives, however the girl on the reception recommend us a very good restaurant 20min by car.
If you want quiet it's the perfect place since it has not many rooms also.
We went in August, so the price was not very attractive, however it wasn't overrated for that time.
And the best thing, the infinite pool with an amazing view.

Stayed 4 nights in this hotel. We stayed in the new block so the room was nice, new and modern. Had everything you need. The view was awesome into the countryside and no noise whatsoever. Breakfast was down by the receptiion. Was OK but could have been better. We also fed the goats, sheep, etc on our way down to breakfast. The pool was closed, green and even though we stayed in Jan and wouldn't have used it, I expected it to be clean atleast. Overall we enjoyed our stay and this hotel is a great choice if you want to relax and get away from it all.

We were travelling from Lisbon to the Algarve (Carvoeiro - Lagoa). We wanted to stop in the countryside. This hits so many spots. Drinks on the terrace. Great infinity swimming pool. Swifts flying in at sunset. Crazy menagerie next door. Rooms excellent. Dinner - amazing value for a rustic meal and terrific local wine. A great stopover.

Used the hotel to explore the area, Evora, Beja, Ferreira do Alentejo. Sonia the hotel staff was delightful and incredibly helpful both at the front desk with booking a tour and in the restaurant with translations and recommendations. Thank you Sonia for making our stay so much better.

In the heart of Alentejo, close to importante wine areas and located close by to a very nice lake, the hotel stays in a hill with nice views. A very well design pool does not hide the overall simplicity of the hotel. Food is well cooked, tasty and local. Very nice quantities and at prices of last century, the restaurant by itself deserves a visit. If you want to relax, stay on business trip, the price and the local deserve the drive. 12 km from Ferreira do Alentejo, 18 from Alvito and 36 km from Évora in very decent and flat roads are just some minutes.

Hotel o Gato – got scammed!
This is actually 2 hotels that share a pool.
1. HOTEL O GATO / NEW HOTEL (where I booked – see attached proof) link of property
2. HOTEL O GATO EDIFICIO STANDARD / OLD HOTEL link of property
I booked HOTEL O GATO / THE NEW HOTEL via booking.com (see proof attached) and expected the room to look like the pictures, however they placed me in the WRONG HOTEL-THE ODL HOTEL! I went straight away after check-in to the receptionist saying that the pictures online do not correspond the room whatsoever. The receptionist then informed me that there are actually 2 hotels with 2 booking.com accounts and that I have booked at THE OLD HOTEL. She then opened her computer and showed me where SHE BELIEVES I booked. I then said straight away that I did not book at THE OLD HOTEL and that I have never seen the pictures of THE OLD HOTEL. She kept telling me it is IMPOSSIBLE that I booked THE NEW HOTEL and ended up in the room of THE OLD HOTEL! I then showed her from my laptop where I received the confirmation from booking.com and that it DOES SAY that I booked at THE NEW HOTEL, even clicking the link takes me the correct hotel (she saw this). She then suggested, that we look at the photos of THE NEW HOTEL, the room that I had booked had 2 pictures of the pool – SHE SAW THIS, I SAW THIS, not a single picture of THE OLD HOTEL on the booking.com page! Since she knew this was not right, she then kept hammering at the NAME OF THE ROOM on HER confirmation paper, but not paying much attention to my confirmation that says I booked at the CORRECT hotel AND WAS PLACED IN THE WRONG HOTEL (see my proof attached)!
The manager was not available at the time that we complained and promised us that he would be back by 20h00, they contacted us to meet us down at 20h30 saying that the hotel is full but can move us the following day. I woke up that morning at 05h00 from trucks, busses and cars passing by at around 130km per hour as the hotel is right next to road that is basically used as a HIGHWAY!! (see attached pictures). They kept buck passing to booking.com and hotelbeds meanwhile they are the owners/managers of this hotel and they select their own pictures that they advertise, not booking.com AND NOT hotelbeds, THEM! That evening the 2 swimming pool pictures changed into 4 pictures of a room from THE OLD HOTEL. If they then have 2 hotels, with 2 different booking.com pages, then why mix the hotels NOW after my complaint, after seeing that the room actually only had 2 swimming pool pictures? I guess there were many other guests that went through the exact same thing as us that were on their way to check in and those guests did not SEE the pool pictures TOGETHER WITH THE RECEPTIONIST as now, they would see the new 4 pictures and nothing would be able to be done about it.
Never ever would I recommend this hotel, nor would I ever stay here again! Scam me once – never again!!!

Standard rooms are located in an outdated building.
The space is weirdly set up: nice swimming pool area right next to really roughly organized animal enclosure and back of the main building.
Outdated reception, but nice people.
