Lovely Place but filthy sand between the tents because they burned most of the leaves from the trees directly on the ground. Nice breakfast but lunch and dinner was very poor. They have not cleaned the toilet- and shower area for months. NO WIFI even if it is said so by Agoda and Booking
+ : The beach was amazing, the place was peaceful, very quiet, there were many climbing routes which were comfortable to climb the whole afternoon thanks to the shade, the food was relatively varied and tasty (depending on tastes though) and they were willing to adapt for vegetarians, vegan, gluten and milk free products (except for breakfast but I guess it would have worked if one insisted), the staff was generally friendly and uncomplicated but almost none understood english. The answer to most of our questions was "I don't know". The boss (who we saw only once in 4 days) was very arranging. - : from a european viewpoint, it is hard to find ok to pay 3200 baht /night for 2 for a tent (with a bed and sheets) without towels, no soap in the toilets, and apparently no upkeep of the place other than sweeping and removing the material brought by the sea (which is actually hard work)... we found it such a pity as the place could be absolutely perfect with a little more upkeep which would be easy considering the number of people working there! Also apparently there was supposed to be free wifi but it appeared to be very complicated to borrow a phone even for a few minutes though the staff spent most of their time on their phones. If you intend to CLIMB: BEWARE of the material. Most of the harnasses were completely rusted. If you are a beginner: don't climb with a local guide as their belaying way is extremely UNSECURE. Finally there were quite a lot of thaïs during the weekend so it might just be that the place is meant for thaïs and foreigners with thaï mentality ':D the place remains amazingly quiet and beautiful...…
After an adventure by long boat on a stormy ocean we made it to this island paradise. If you are looking for something off the beaten path then this is a great place to get away from the crowds and enjoy a stunning beach and clear waters. We came and stayed for four days, the first of which was New Years Eve. We were there with another family both of us with teenage kids. It was very chill but we still found lots to do from swimming and snorkeling, to kayaking and volleyball, the kids even tried climbing up the limestone cliffs which attracted some pretty serious climbers from around the world. That was pretty cool watching them climb in the cool of the afternoon. If you are expecting luxury accommodation, this is not your place, there is lots of sand, and the beds in the tents are hard. It was quite cool when we were there so we didn't find the heat too bad. It was nice to have electricity at night to charge our phones for photos and music. The cookhouse makes good meals, but be prepared for spicy! There was lots of food and you could also order fish the day before if you wanted to add to your meal. There was an "on your honor" beach bar for beers or cokes as well which was really nice. the water was clear and there is pretty good snorkeling right out in front of the campsite. Great place to chill. Definitely would recommend!…
I absolutely loved this island. Not entirely keen of the food that was served, but I’m an extremely picky eater, so I’m used to that most places. It was a beautiful island, low stress, very authentic feel. Staff was friendly and it wasn’t busy, so I was able to relax and go at my own pace. Kayaking and snorkeling equipment are available. I highly recommend.
The beach, the location and the island is just beautiful. The food was good to - very spicy but tasty. Unfortunately I couldn't even walk into the "restaurant" area without getting bitten by mosquitoes, and on the beach there were sand flies! Now a week later we're still itching and scratching. The staff was ok, a bit noisy in the morning- so not a place to sleep in. We got a VIP tent and it was lovely , with a great view. Unfortunately ants would get into the tent - and they bit us too! So all in all gorgeous place but all the bites and the itching got too much for me in the end.
I travelled to Laoliang Island Report with my two daughters (8+11), and we had a great time. The girls spend a huge amount of time just lolling around in the sea. We kayaked to the next island and spent time snorkelling and basically watching the sun come and go, the tide rise and fall. It isn't luxurious - you're staying in a tent, after all - but it's a magical spot. We were there for three days: we could easily have stayed longer, once we got into the timezone of the place. The food was fine, but could be a bit more inventive - considering how amazing Thai food can be, it was rather bland. Nevertheless, we visited quite a while ago now, but continue to have vivid memories of the trip. You will too.
If you want real peace and quiet on a tropical paradise look no further! It had some downsides like poor english from staff and basic fascilities...but this adds to the appeal too. Don't expect 5 star food and service. Do expect breathtaking scenery, perfect beach and an unforgettable stay!
Boring with lousy crowded island ? Here i found peacefully quiet staying with sea, sand. Fun activities such as climbing, snorkling, kayaking we also can do. More importantly, good food, nice& warm welcome from staff. If you can live with adequate, not so fancy facilities, then escape to stay with nature here. I'm sure this place will restore inside of you!!
This place is such a gem. It is hidden, far away from all of the street markets, restaurants, and massage places. Complete silence. Absolute relaxed! Perfect place for two or three nights. If you are a climber, more. Climbing is perfect at this place, I've heard, from the ones that I talked to (I don't climb myself). Don't expect someone to cleen you tent once a day, but who needs that? Food there is absolutely good. Not like a five star restaurant, but decent good food. Snorkeling is beautiful here, though bring a rash guard or a thin tight sweater as there is something stingin in the water. Also, remember to bring mosquito repellant and some monkey balm for the mosquitos that don't care. Staff are not good in english, though they will allways understand you. The owner or manager speaks better english and was very helpful picking us up from our hotel, and dropping us off at the next.…
I've never had such a spacious tent in my life - each of the smaller ones house two, with a sort of 'foyer' space between the mattress area and the exit. There's power supply and a fan inside, and an awning. Larger ones are "semi-detached", with two sleeping areas on either side of the "entrance foyer" - perfect for a family. The toilet/shower facilities are to the back and basic. But hey, on a chill beach holiday when you should mostly be in the sea anyway, I would be surprised if people mind. We were sorry when the vacay was over. You come here basically to just chill by the seaside, drink in the view, snorkel (please refrain at low tide; you will just hit all the corals [they are NOT rocks!] and it's impossible to avoid them - also it is much nicer with a bit of water column anyway), and just chill. The beach corals aren't pristine but a surprising proportion are still fairly decent and there is a lot of fish, some quite large, the diversity is not bad. There are platforms under the trees to hang out at, and you can also request to be taken rock climbing. We had a host-guide from the previous island, so we also went out for a bit of squid angling. The beach is fairly clean, but a pass through still yields enough things to pick up. The staff do clean ups but really if visitors are messy and leave plastic bits everywhere despite being given bins, it's an uphill climb to protect the beauty of the beach and sea life from people. The food is buffet style, and while pretty ok, I've been having superlative Thai food up until then so... I noticed. Haha. There is hot water, and filtered water, so really there's no reason nor excuse whatsoever not to refill a water bottle, or at the least, re-use the plastic bottle of water you probably brought there with you.…
