Nice place, quite spacy and cozy. Nice food (I liked the local falvours) Good for families and groups. Clean and calm and easy to find. Had a nice and quiet time with my family. I'd like them to have heaters as it gets cold during evenings during Dec season.

the cool weather is its inherent advantage, yet nicely located ( though very close to main road) found it quite pleasing. neatly maintained garden is the first attraction, entrance and the main area was a bit of congested for me, but the 2 seating areas beside the main entrance offer nice environment for a discussion with a drink :) rooms were good, and clean, but the entire setup need some neatness of keeping things and i felt something was missing and the staff may have lost the track over the time staff was extremely good, they were full time on to the service, friendly kind, you name its there, food of cause is not the key factor there, its local food with basic recipe and practice. you could be happy with that, anyway its the best available in the area. overall its a fine place to stay and relax,

We stayed there for two days. Nice location even though not perfect as expected. Enough space for playing for kids. Very quiet not disturbed often even though house is near a road close by. There were two men looking after the place . They actually are over worked I feel. They gave us a delicious meal on demand. Rooms are not very spacious but kind of ok. Overall we had a very good time. Ideal for family holidays. My advice if you are going there make sure you inquire for exact food menus and the cost beforehand. This is a nice place and the staff ( those two men) were really nice and caring.

I stayed two nights with my family there. It was a really nice and cool stay. The place is calm and clean, rooms are spacious and equipped. Bathrooms are clean and nice. Both indoor and outdoor are of classic bungalow type with beautiful surrounding which reached us the real feeling of 'Bandarawela'. Surrounded by a tea plantation and beyond with rim of mountains hidden in the clouds delivered a wonderful scenery in the morning. sstaff was so nice and helpful. food was delicious to us. we wish to visit there again.

Peaceful and quite bungalow within the tea plantation. Nice trekking to do till the monk school for youngers, you can have a tea and discuss with the monk. The bungalow is quite confortable, however the breakfast can be improved, less varieties of food.

The house is modeled after an old colonial bungalow and is situated right next to a tea plantation site. There are enough open spaces indoors and outdoors for many family activities and ideal for a retreat for a small family. The staff is very courteous and can cook some Sri Lankan food very well. Being a Sri Lankan family, we loved their food and the price and didn't expect any guide service from them for site seeing or travel. We just wanted to spend some time peacefully and soak up the cool climate Bandarawela has to offer. Will definite be back.

We stayed in MF Holiday Bungalow for 1 night during late December 2013. It was our office outing with 5 Families including children. This bungalow has 5 spacious triple rooms with attached baths and TV units. Access to the bungalow is not difficult, it's about 5Km from Bandarawela town, through Attampitiya road. We never met the host, who was only available on the phone, however, he was very helpful. The staff at the bungalow was really helpful and always had a smile on. They were there to assist in any request you have and prepared delicious food. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

This is not just another hotel set in a tea plantation. This is a real tea producers bungalow with the most friendly staff you can imagine, who will do anything to make you feel comfortable even play billiard with you, if you like to. With the magnificent setting in the tea field and huge panorama windows it is perfect If you are looking to enjoy the natural scenery, tea fields and get away from the bustling towns and a bit of the beaten track. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the food is excellent authentic Sri Lankan rice and curry dishes adjusted to your taste. We had a phenomenal walk in the tea fields with an employee and got an excellent opportunity to hand out the t-shirts we had brought from home to the tea pickers. I am not quite sure the North European female t-shirt fashion is appreciated by women, but the men liked them, and there were a couple of items, that women could use. We would recommend you skip Ella and go straight here. We regret not having done so. It is a fairly short drive from both Ella and Bandarawela, so you can still do the scenic train ride from Kandy.

Based on previous TripAdvisor reviews, we had really been looking forward to staying here. However, while the bungalow itself is very nice, everything else fell a long way short of our expectations. One of the main reasons we chose to stay here was that the 'Activities' page of their website lists a huge range of things you can do while staying at MF Bungalows, and also states that: "We can suggest tours, either on foot by yourselves or with a tracker, or by hired vehicle with qualified driver/guide. Just tell us what you would like to do and it will be organised." However, all three members of staff who were there when we arrived seemed totally unaware that they were supposed to be providing this service. When I asked about the different activities listed on the website they had no idea what I was talking about - I had to actually show them the web page. After about two hours of back and forth discussion the best that we could arrange was that we go for an unguided walk around the estate and then one of them (obviously not a professional guide as advertised) would take us to a few places in his car. Part of the problem here was that the staff member who we were mainly dealing with did not speak good enough English to be doing this job. In fairness to him, I got the feeling that he was actually the cook (he certainly cooked that night at least, and made us a pretty good meal) and was just doing his best in a job he wasn't really up to. However, given the excellent English on the website I was really expecting that at least one person on duty would speak sufficient English to deal with guests' enquiries and problems. Our final problem was with the hot water. While my wife was in the shower it suddenly went off. We were the only guests that night and had been offered a choice of room when we arrived, so I went to ask if she could finish her shower in a room where the shower was working properly. To my astonsihment what the staff member seemed to be telling me was that none of the other rooms except ours had hot water turned on and that he could not turn it on. At this point I asked that he call the owner so I could speak to him. Instead he called another staff member (the gardener, perhaps?) who spoke no better English and was no better able to fix the problem. By this point I was pretty angry, and demanded to speak to the owner (Mr. Frank) first thing in the morning. An additional problem was that unlike every other place we stayed in Sri Lanka, no bottled water was provided in the rooms. Moreover, both pillows smelt extremely musty (even to me, who has a very weak sense of smell). Thankfully (and surprisingly) the wi-fi worked fine, so we made a reservation online at Melheim Resort for the following night, and I called to request that they send a driver to pick us up in the morning. This is the only time I have ever checked out of a hotel early due to dissatisfaction, and I am SO glad we did. For a little more money, Melheim Resort was like a different world! (See review).
