Doing a tour of Greece using 2 and 3 star hotels. Karalis is by far the best I have seen during this tour. Nice, modern and spacious room. Very nice bathroom with lots of space, walk-in rain shower, beds are good, struggling to find any fault while going through the room. Maybe the shower curtain should be replaced by a door to make it perfect.

Hotel's Favourite
A nicely positioned hotel, polite and friendly staff, near to restaurants and coffee bars. Breakfast was superb and could be eaten in or outside. Parking is in a large car park in front of the hotel, which is on the harbour side.

Broken elevators, dark staircase and inattentive staff makes this a poor choice. You can do better in the area for the price.Breakfast was ok room a bit outdated. The bathroom while large has a high step in tub with shower which is a bit difficult to use especially if you are older or handicapped.

Response from Dionysis Karalis, Owner at Karalis City Hotel
Responded 22 Sep 2021
Dear Bacondsand, Thank you for taking the time to review our property. Although it is overreacted, I understand your frustration. Before I start to reply to your comments, I want to mention that since your first moment of your arrival at the hotel, your behavior was negative and prejudiced. At the beginning, you complained about the dark staircase. As we already explained you, the lights are turned on when you push the switch. For eco reasons are automatically turned off after 5 minutes. However for your safety, the emergency lights are permanently on. Regarding the elevator, it really had been broken from a group of students we accommodate those days and we apologize for this. Actually, the internal security door was ripped at late evening (10.00pm) of the second day of your stay. We immediately call the maintenance company to fix it the soonest we could. Next morning at 9.00am the elevator was repaired and operating normally, instead of lack of available repairing parts because of the store business hours. Concerning the staff, I can accept substantiated comments only. If an incident happened, and you believe I should be aware, I would appreciate it if you provide further information to my personal email which is available from TripAdvisor. From my discussion with all the staff I didn’t notice anything to take action. Kindly remind you that the rate of your stay was less than 90€ per night including breakfast for a Deluxe Sea View room. Because of your complaints delivered to the reception, we made a 40% discount on the second night of your stay, so you totally paid less than 130€ for 2 nights. Furthermore, we offer a compliment fruit platter and a voucher with 20% off to nearby restaurant. On our part we exerted any possible action to overcome the wrong aspects and milden your frustration but you persist to your first unfair and punitive tactics of negative comments, reviewing our hotel with 2 stars as you ostentatiously threatened the receptionist. Probably, you look for 5-star services to a 3-star rate. Therefore, good luck to your next destination. Kind regards, D.Karalis

We stayed with my family in room #107. The location is ideal, near the center. The breakfast was quite good and finally the staff was very polite. But the negative was the toilet window faces the rest of the room. Wtf??? I really do not have to note anything else... Tragic

The hotel is in a nice location, in the centre of Pylos and overlooking the Navarino bay. Our room was average (smallish) size and had a ‘businesslike’ style. The staff were nice and polite. Parking was available across the street. The main issue we had was that we visited in the middle of a heatwave and the air conditioner kept switching itself off in the middle of the night. The first night we woke up from the heat twice and switched it back on. We realized the 2hrs issue but when we tried to change the setup it required a password we did not have. The next morning we reported the issue to the receptionist who was unaware of this and reset the system reassuring us it should now be fine. It was not and we had a repeat of the previous night. There was a new lady at reception the next morning who offered us some lame excuses and accusing us we had it at 20oC instead of the recommended 23oC. I tried to explain to her that we indeed had it at 23oC but even if we had it at 30 it would not have made any difference. She said she would “inform”. Not sure what that meant… I believe assuming a hotel room with a working air conditioner is not unreasonable. I also expect that a decent hotel would have sent someone in the room to fix it after the first complaint. I would neither stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The room and bathroom are modern, comfortable and well equipped.Towels and toiletries were replaced each day. Location of the hotel is great as just a short walk from the main square where all the shops, bars and restaurants are located. The rooms had a large balcony with great views across the harbour. Plenty of parking nearby. We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast was good and the normal buffet service had been adapted to comply with current restrictions. Reception staff very friendly and provided helpful information on local places of interest and restaurant recommendations. We also had a nice treat near the end of our stay when a bottle of wine and a selection of local cheeses were left in our room for us to enjoy.# Would definitely stay at this hotel again if we ever revisit Pylos .

The hotel is located in the city center, a few hundred meters from the main square. Common areas of the hotel are a bit weird, very dark, and a bit messy but that's not too big of a deal. Our temperature was checked twice during our stay (COVID-19). We booked a Family Room which consists of two communicating rooms. They were spacious, well furnished, and relatively modern. Both rooms have a balcony where you can enjoy the sunset over the port. Nespresso coffee in both rooms. Breakfast was served as a buffet in some kind of banquet hall. Since we travelled during the COVID pandemic, the staff was serving us on trays and we could eat inside or go on the terrace outside across the street. Breakfast quality was average. A bit pricey. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Nice hotel, clean, modern, good breakfast selection, nice view, a bit clinical for my taste... but still I can’t see why I would t give 5 stars to it. A fault with a spot light in the room, I made a complaint in the morning, it was fixed straight away

The Karalis City Hotel offers a warm welcome, a great location and the best Covid safety protocol we observed on our five-day mid-June trip in the western Peloponnese just after re-opening. We were satisfied with our stay but would not make it our first choice on a return visit. It's not, however, for their lack of trying. Virus measures included the plexi reception shield, all staff in masks and gloves all the time, painted distancing standing points on the floors and spotless cleaning. At the breakfast buffet you point, and the server brings it to you. You don’t touch anything. The compliance effort was impressive. Our second night we returned to the room to find a delicious fruit plate. You couldn't feel more welcome. After that it is a very serviceable but ordinary hotel. The lobby bar is limited, and one might say, provincial in service. I showed the clerk how to open the wine bottle. The dining room is tour-bus bright and spacious with all the charm of a Southside Chicago wedding venue. There is a stunning view from the front room balconies, but you are just above the national highway out of town with the traffic sounds to go with it. On a positive note, in addition to serious cleanliness, our room was very functional and comfortable. Good outlets, a hair dryer, safe, fridge and coffee service. Crisp sheets, comfortable bed. We slept well. Another plus besides the room and its view, the hotel is easy to find near the main plaza and its ton of bars, happy families and tavernas but distant enough to avoid the crowd, which on this trip seemed all local. We parked right in front, unlikely in high season. As we discovered in this part of Greece, in addition to English there is a lot of German signage and postings. Pylos itself warrants all the guidebook praise. And at the end of the day the Karalis makes a very convenient base from which to enjoy it. The sister Beach property was not yet open during this trip.

Hotel and room is older and getting a bit tired. Breakfast was fine (pretty standard for similar tourist hotels). There is a nice gazebo across the street looking out on the water and you can eat your breakfast there. Bathroom is extremely small, we couldn't rinse out even small clothing nor would it seem new and clean enough to do so. Small sink counter gets soaked if taking a shower. Bed is rock hard (OK if you like them that way). AC worked well and there was a fridge in the room. There is a small elevator since there are several floors for loading luggage.
