We just completed our stay at the M Hotel. It was absolutely wonderful! Excellent staff! The breakfast was a hearty one. Perfect before a day on the slopes. The location was incredible. Close walking distance to everything. The rooms are clean and set up efficiently. There’s a place for everything. They offer free lockers in the basement for storage of skis, boots, helmets etc. We will definitely be booking at this hotel when we return to Niseko.
Due to the large scale spread of the highly epidemic coronavirus all over the world, I decided to cancelled my trip to minimize the chance of getting infected by coronavirus. I booked a room for 5 nights in M Lodge Niseko. We have sent email to the hotel and ask for any contingency plans for cancellation or changing the check-in date but they ignored all my enquires and felt like the spread of coronavirus was not a big issue and it would not affect travelling. No matter what contingency plans/suggestions I have made (e.g. change the check-in date), M Lodge customer service representative refused all of them and keep saying that it was decision made under the reservation offer I have chosen before. They seem only need to think about hotel’s benefits/sales and totally ignore the customers’ feelings and concerns. I did see M Lodge was concerned nothing about customers’ benefits and have poor attitude to handle this case as well as their customer representatives totally ignored customer's concerns and enquires about the reservation. I will be in Niseko for the next ski season but will NOT choose M Hotel and also advise my friends do NOT choose it anymore and will book somewhere else.…
The booking process was not very easy. M Hotel was constantly sending updates asking for details of my trip, asking for more money for parking, etc. However, when I needed to cancel the trip due to a funeral I needed to attend in the US they were not responsive. They kept stating their cancellation policy and would not work at all with me on a solution. Other hotels that we had bookings through we're extremely helpful and accommodating. I will be in Japan for the next ski season but will not be dealing with M Hotel and advise others to book somewhere else as well.
I booked last minute for the snow season and found the M Lodge as great value for money. While it is a simple property compared to the M Hotel (sister property next door), the room was large, clean and secure and there was a ski locker on the ground floor for my gear. It is only a very short walk to the free bus stop that goes around the village, its location is amazing and rooms heat up quickly after a long day of boarding. Only things to watch out for is there is no lift (so thankful I only had to drag my bags up the stairs once) and the bathroom does have the tendency to flood (floor doesn't slope to a drain so went everywhere). If you are looking for value in Grand Hirafu, you can't go past this property.
Amazing location, right in the center of the night life with plenty of bars and restaurants near by. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. However, the king bed was two singles pushed together which became uncomfortable when shifted. Also, the bathroom was small (but to be expected for the price). The size was fine for our needs, but the shower did not have a water-stopper of any kind, so the water poured throughout the bathroom... not ideal. Lastly, there was no elevator in the lodge, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but when having two large bags and a big snowboard bag, it was difficult to carry out gear. Overall, we have enjoyed our stay here at the M Lodge and would return again.
Stayed 6 nights in B205 (western plus room) and found the room very spacious. Bathroom was a bit dated and cold but perfectly fine for our stay. Daily housecleaning was minimal (clean out bins) with fresh towels or change of linen by request or every few days. Ability to lock up our snowboards in the general room near reception was good but would have been nice to have had a locker available in our part of the accommodation. Location was excellent and very central being close to seico mart, rhythm sports, and free shuttle stop right outside that takes you to hirafu main lifts / gondola. Restaurants on the street were also great (izakaya across the road, ezo seafood, the barn, Kobe beef yakiniku) and really close to all the main eatieries, food trucks and small bars (splash, fridge bar) in hirafu. Staff were generally helpful and friendly. Only real annoyance was because we booked through an agent and not direct with the hotel, they didn’t offer us a free transfer to the welcome centre (main bus depot / point for the bus to Sapporo) on our departure and charged ¥2000 per person for the 5 min transfer, even though this is a free service for guests who book directly with them. Seems a bit rich given we’d stayed there for 6 nights and other places offer this service for free even if you booked though an agent. (eg. Akazora, Always hotel) Other than that, I would recommend staying here if you book early and can get a good deal on the western plus room. Otherwise, I would recommend the akazora next door which is newer and just as spacious (our friends stayed there!) …
Lets be honest, no one comes to Niseko in the ski season just to stay in the room. The room served its purpose, gave us a bed to sleep in, place to shower and warmth. Location, price and great staff. Thanks
This place was alright. The rooms were a decent size and the location is really good if you're wanting to experience some of the food and night life that Niseko has to offer. If you're wanting to get up to the base of Grand Hirafu there is a shuttle bus stop conveniently located across the road. However we found the timetable to be a bit hit and miss. If you wanted to get up the mountain early for first tracks then you'd pretty much have to walk to the lifts as the first shuttle wouldn't arrive until the lifts were already going. It doesn't look that far on the map, but it's a relatively steep hill. Which gets a bit tiresome when you are wearing all your snow gear and carrying your equipment. So if your main reason for being there is to go hard and get first lifts every day then perhaps find somewhere further up the hill towards the lifts. The only other gripes I have with the place are that the beds appeared to be made out of granite. I kid you not I have never slept on a harder bed. I initially thought that it was a futon or something. But then we looked an it was two singles pushed together to make a double. But they were rock hard and there were springs that you could feel through the sheets. Also the maid service was a bit shabby in that they only came every 2nd or 3rd day and from what I could tell, didn't really do a great deal. So yeah, I'd give this place an "average" really. Not too bad but far from excellent.…
I would not return to this place if I had a choice. For a ski holiday, one looks for a few things in a place to stay: - location close to amenities. This place delivers, a very short walk to plenty of restaurants and supermarkets. - location close to the slopes. It is right next to the shuttle bus stop. - quiet rooms for a good rest. No quiet rooms here. I stayed in 201, the corridor for which ends at the back of Monty's pub next door. So you can clearly hear the crash of dishes all evening. Heavy footsteps up and down the stairs at all times of the evening and night either keep one awake, or wake one up. - clean rooms. There is no daily room service, only once every 3 days. - rooms in good repair. The blind in my room was broken so it could not be properly and tidily drawn up. The hanging wall mirror fell off the wall while I was in front of it, the frayed string holding it up finally broke. - dark windows and the right temperature for the room. The window blind did not block out light completely, so the dawn light enters and prevents sleeping in on a rest day. The heater was temperamental and the room was always either too hot or too cool. There was no net curtain so the blind had to be down all the time. - clean air in the room. Periodically, diesel fumes were sucked in through the ventilation fan, pervading my room. - breakfast. This is additional and costs ¥1,800 each day at the M Hotel next door. This has hot and cold choices but disappointing that fruit that is still frozen is served, and the "strong" coffee keeps running out so you have to wait for it to be brewed again (not convenient for ski timings). - ski storage. There is a separate locker for skis and poles at the entrance. For this, one gets a separate key from the room key, which means you have to juggle 2 different keys every morning. So the only good thing about this place is the location and that it provides ski storage. It is only just large enough for luggage space for one person and the bathroom is wet (no shower cubicle). It is not priced as budget accommodation and yet it is. Very disappointing. …
Stayed here in Feb 2017, As last season I had stayed in the M hotel next door, and I like the very central location, I had read the previous reviews for M Lodge, and have had no real issues, the heater worked well the shower was interesting, but no issue, I stayed on the 3rd floor but that is only 2 flights of stairs, so no drama there. My biggest issue was being over 6 foot tall bumping my head on the doorways :) The Wifi as mentioned by others was really flakey. If I could offer a suggestion it would be to sort out the ground floor area, as it looks like a store room and acts as a rest area for the staff from Monty's. My room tip is to put the compendium on top of the bedside rubbish bin and an instant bedside table
