Even as the snowflakes start to fall, adding powder to the slopes outside, Kimamaya Boutique Hotel remains toasty-warm; a cocoon upon the mountainside. Kimamaya is the Japanese word for ‘be yourself’ and here, you can do just that. Jazz music floats through the homely Living Lounge as your bare feet press against the timber flooring, and all that’s left to worry about is which wine you’ll sip as you laze by the fireplace. The vintages served here come from a vineyard owned by the family of Nicolas Gontard, who renovated this nine-room retreat to help guests get closer to the beauty of Niseko, one of Japan’s most popular ski resorts. But Kimamaya Boutique Hotel’s mountain location isn’t only appealing in winter. In the summer and fall, pristine trails and mountain biking tracks snake through the surrounding pine forests.
I stayed with my 16 year old daughter for a week. Peter and Hiruka could not have been more helpful or accommodating. They anticipate your every need, and meet it and more. All advice regarding ski hire, restaurants, shopping, travel, transfers was spot on.....and reinforced by the people we met along the way. As a Lord of the Rings fan, it was like staying at Rivendell.....a wonderful homely (and beautifully stylish) home away from home.... Perfect

This is my second time at Kimamaya and we still love it. Apart from the comfortable rooms, the onsen, the perfect location (just a short walk to ski rental, restaurants, Main Street, the pickup/drop off whenever you go around town), the best thing(s) about Kimamaya are really Peter and Haruka. My husband ended up injuring himself on the first day of skiing and the service they provided was unparalleled. They ensured he had what he needed and was comfortable at all times. Truly thankful to them for making what was an unfortunate experience a much more bearable one. Couldn’t rate this place more highly

I stayed at Kimamaya with a group of friends in February for a week, booking out several rooms. I can honestly say that I have never had a skiing holiday like it before, the attention to detail of everything is amazing and the staff are just exceptional... I really didn't want to leave and will go back there in a heartbeat.

We have grown kids, have travelled a lot, are picky. But the Kimamaya may be the most perfect hotel, dollar for dollar, we’ve stayed in. Among the bland, expensive concrete blocks now studding Niseko it has loads of charm, personality and a quiet luxury. The rooms (which have Apple TV) are smallish but sexy, the bathrooms equipped with high end toiletries, the beds huge and comfortable. Breakfast is a la carte as well as buffet at the adjoining restaurant, which does a great steak at night. There’s a drying room for your ski stuff and when you’re having a drink in your provided felt slippers in the lounge, there’s a feeling you’re in someone’s fancy but most welcoming private home. Even with all that, it’s the service which sets it apart. Before our arrival, guest relations…

We stayed at this great place for 5 nights and really enjoyed it. It is a little home away from home, very personnally managed and just a lovely place to stay! Upon Check in you get a phone and when tired after à great day skiing or after skiing in a Bar, you just Call the Hotel and they pick you up at the gondola! It doesn’t Feel like a hotel it is more like a lodge or a Chalet with perfect service! Peter, the young, friendly, cool and very helpful manager can read in your thoughts and makes everyting possible together with his Team. We very much enjoyed the bath on one day, very relaxing after a wonderful day up on the cold Mountain. Breakfast is very good, there is Even a Full japanese Version, which of course we tried. Great! The breakfast restaurant the barn is a proper…

Stay here. Stay here because the General Manager Peter makes you feel welcomed the moment you step through the door. Stay here because everyone at Kimamaya is committed to giving you the most amazing experience. Haruka knows your day's schedule better than you do, down to the minute. Osaka-san provides you with excellent door-to-door shuttling from the stairs of Kimamaya to your day's ski location. After a day on the slopes, unwind those fatigues muscles in the wonderful hot baths and then walk through the covered passage for a delicious dinner at The Barn. If you have a kid, then take them to the Kid's Room where they can play with toys, draw, or enjoy the Wii games. Kimamaya is superb. We love the small boutique feel. The rooms are lovely and well-appointed. Truly an…

I could go on for hours, but I'll keep it short and say you will not be disappointed. This place is absolutely fantastic - location, facilities, service - all top notch. Peter and Haruka do an amazing job of making you welcome and taking care of everything in a super professional way, and all the other staff are equally excellent. Thank you all so much for an amazing stay.

This hotel is right in the center of where you want to be while staying in Niseko. The rooms are very comfortable and a great home away from home. What really sets the experience at Kimamaya apart is the staff. Peter and Haruka arranged everything for us. Transfers from the airport, ski passes, daily trips to other resorts, dinners — everything was taken care of. They genuinely care about all of their guests. They did all of this for the large group we were with but also took the time to check in on the individual need of my girlfriend and me. Can’t wait to be their guest again.

If you're looking at this property and thinking on it, the simple answer without a doubt is YES. You'll be centrally located from almost everything, grand hirafu gondola, restaurants, super market, visitor centre, bars, and the famous "back country" roads. The property is cozy, clean and well maintained. The Barn downstairs serves tasty meals, a darn awesome breakfast menu, and is great for dinner with groups. The staff here are ever so cheerful which makes for a warming experience. The cleaning staff are great, Osaka-san (shuttle driver) gets you around with the utmost efficiency and ever so polite. And the all star A-team up front; Peter and Haruka are just amazing, going over and beyond to ensure utmost comfort of the guests, from sorting out transportation, ensuring there's…

I treated myself to a massage at Kimamaya and it was fabulous. I arrived early, hoping to extend from 60 to 90 minutes, but as the therapist hadn’t yet come in, Peter suggested a long soak in the lovely onsen while I waited. Divine! When Keiko arrived, she listened to my preferences/concerns and gave me a terrific massage. Sadly, when I tried to book another for the same week, she was already busy, no surprise. The hotel is beautifully designed and, from what i understand, a great place to stay. I recommend the spa most enthusiastically.
