Even as the snowflakes start to fall, adding powder to the slopes outside, Kimamaya Boutique Hotel remains toasty-warm; a cocoon upon the mountainside. Kimamaya is the Japanese word for ‘be yourself’ and here, you can do just that. Jazz music floats through the homely Living Lounge as your bare feet press against the timber flooring, and all that’s left to worry about is which wine you’ll sip as you laze by the fireplace. The vintages served here come from a vineyard owned by the family of Nicolas Gontard, who renovated this nine-room retreat to help guests get closer to the beauty of Niseko, one of Japan’s most popular ski resorts. But Kimamaya Boutique Hotel’s mountain location isn’t only appealing in winter. In the summer and fall, pristine trails and mountain biking tracks snake through the surrounding pine forests.
Stayed here for 4 nights and had a wonderful stay. The hotel staff are amazingly helpful especially Peter and Miko. They helped us with the activities and even suggested good places for onsen and restaurants nearby. The hotel itself is cozy and we got a room with Mount Yotei view which was a nice touch. We also would like to thank Peter and Miko for the warmest hospitality.

This was our first trip to the Niseko area & we could not have been happier with our choice of accommodation. Location It is perfectly situated in the heart of Hirafu village with everything in easy walking distance. They even give you a local mobile mobile so you can call to be picked up from the slopes in the afternoon & the driver is always ready to drop you there even though the bus stop is right outside the hotel. (you can walk to the closest lift but it is uphill about 10 mins) Grocery store 2 mins walk, ski hire 4mins. Plenty of good eateries withing a few min walk & your hosts are always ready to offer suggestions & make reservations for you The Hotel A stunningly renovated building with every detail thought of. Our room on the first floor was comfortable & stylish if…

Amazingly designed, small boutique hotel with excellent personalized service. It felt like I was staying at a family member's place. Each room gets their own cell phone to call for the shuttle for pickup from the ski lifts. The free morning breakfast was also very nice, especially when getting the japanese breakfast. Would definitely stay here the next time around.

We loved our stay at Kimamaya - not only because the place is beautiful, most comfortable and situated right in the heart of Grand Hirafu walking distance from the lifts, restaurants and bars. But even more so because of Peter who is the best hosts we could have imagined. His recommendations were 100% spot on, be it where to go for dinner, when to expect the next powder day, or how to best plan the trip. It's the small things that he pays attention to and that will make your stay a very special one.

We have been in several places in Niseko, but Kimayama is from far our favourite place. It's a unique balance of refine decoration, warm rooms with prime location and magic view on Mount Yotei ! The team is so nice and helpful as well, it makes the stay in Kimamaya like home..... with a better view :) - See attached a view from our room - PS : Trip Advisor should have an option Excellent++ to differentiate the regular excellent places with those like Kimamaya which have a soul that you only find in 1 hotel out of 100.

The hotel is rather on the pricy side, but well worth for what you get! The interior is decorated lovely with an eye for details. Rooms are comfy with all you need except international power outlets, so don't forget to bring your adapters... Especially women might appreciate the well heated bedrooms. No cold feet here! The hotel has a tiny Onsen of its own and a kind of living room/lobby where you can in case eat your take away food. Wifi is fast and stable. Don't forget to ask the waiters for the login to the breakfast area wifi, since the regular hotel wifi doesn't reach there. If there is any downside to the hotel, than it's the cold breakfast room in the mornings with a limited buffet selection. What's there is tasty and nicely presented, but don't expect a breakfast big…

We had a wonderful 5 night stay at Kimamaya. From the minute we were picked up from the bus, we felt right at home. That is the beauty of this small & quaint B&B, and especially the hospitality of Peter & Miki. Any questions we had, they were there to help -- from best places to ski, where to get rental equipment, and most importantly tips on the best bars & restaurants in town. Additionally, just great to talk with at the end of an amazing day on the mountain. The hotel is also very impressive from the design, location, room layout, etc., etc. But they have also thought of all the little (but very valuable) things. They have a special dry room to keep all your equipment, boots, jackets, etc. Great way to start the day by putting on toasty boots! Additionally,…

Stunning attention to detail, delectable breakfasts, all the amenities a family would ever want, and topped off with wonderful hosts. Designed to feel like a home from home, Kimamaya offers an extremely chic, practical, and cosy environment from which to base yourselves on a ski trip. Need to book a restaurant for dinner, urgently? Tick. Need some help with day trips? Tick. Need ferrying to and from the slopes each day? Tick. Need a babysitter last minute? Tick. With our two small children, we bunked in to a beautiful two-storey room with gorgeously soft beds and futons. From the moment we arrived the accommodation suited us perfectly - a kids room, two hot onsens for those post-ski melt downs, and a beautiful drawing room/library/bar. Achingly cool and calmly understated yet…

Fantastic place. Both facilities and service are superb. Hard to find a bteer location as well. Small enough to be really friendly, but never intrusive. Peter, the hotel manager is terrific - great recomendations on anything from restaurants to finding your way.

My husband and I (and 2 children, ages 2.5 and 11) spent 6 FANTASTIC days at the stunning Kimamaya in Jan '17. From the moment we checked in, Peter and Miki made us feel like we were long-time friend visiting. Immediately set the tone for a great stay. The decor is modern, yet rustic, and very welcoming, with every luxury touch imaginable. We stayed in one of the loft rooms which accommodated us 4 perfectly. I will say, the stairs to the loft are pretty steep, but a quick email prior to checking in requesting a baby gate at the top to keep our toddler safe, was all I needed to do and it was done for us before we arrived. In addition to all the other great amenities, I have to say how incredible it was to have a fully stocked and FUN kids room in the basement to let our children…
