We had a fantastic stay at Kimamaya - definitely the best hotel we stayed in in all of Japan! Peter and Haruka were very welcoming, and they dropped us off for our onward transport after our stay (even though the bus stop we needed was not nearby!) We loved the private onsens in the hotel, and the excellent breakfast too (I had poached eggs with smoked salmon, and a great toffee latte). We also appreciated Netflix in the rooms in the evenings (we watched a new series that we are now finishing at home). Very comfortable lounge too. I could not recommend Kimamaya any more highly - if you are considering visiting, definitely do!
We spend 4 nights at Kimamaya and it was just perfect. Peter and all the other people here made our time a dream. Peter give us a lot of tips for restaurants in the area. The room and the hotel (bedrooms in total), in general, were nicely decorated and very calm. We had access to the breakfast at the restaurant next door. Bath time was available after a ski day, very relaxing. They were very helpful to drop us off us and pick us up for our ski days. I would highly recommend this hotel, try the bar not too far with the little red door, a must!
We loved our first stay at Kimamaya this past February 2018 with our two boys, aged 5 and 10. The two story bedroom (with kids beds and little private den upstairs) was great and gave us the space we needed; and the small boutique hotel feel really made Kimamaya a home away from home. The staff was attentive and helpful, suggesting and booking dinners for us, but also super accommodating when we wanted to have a take away pizza 'at home' and suggested we should relax in the bar area ... the lovely bottle of sparkly wine we had with it, made it a wonderful, relaxing evening. We also found the central location of the hotel brilliant. We had previously stayed in ski in/out places in Niseko and were a little reluctant about having to take the Kimamaya shuttle bus to the Hirafu…
On first hearing about Niseko, years ago, I knew it was a place I needed to visit, as it combines two things I love: skiing, and Japan. When I was finally ready to book the trip, it was tough to find the right place to stay; I wanted the convenience of staying in town, so I could walk to restaurants and bars, but I didnt want to be too far from the mountain. Luckily, I stumbled onto Kimamaya. The website and marketing materials cannot do it justice; the location is very central, and the public areas and rooms feel cozy and comfortable. There are also two private onsens, that are restorative after a day on the slopes. But, what really sets it apart, is the incredible service provided by Peter and Haruka. They constantly go above and beyond to ensure that your stay is amazing,…
I worked with Peter and his team for 8 people from Portland and Hood River OR. Four couples that want to go to check out the area and try all the amazing food, on sens, different ski areas etc. They took care of everything with emails and when we got there it was better than we thought it could be. We will stay here again and again. Peter and Haruka were exceptional hosts and run a tight operation. Back to kids and jobs etc-but this will always be in the memories....thank you!
This place is a wonderful place to stay! I have never experienced such wonderful service. Peter, Haruka and their team were the most generous hosts and went above and beyond. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was thought of to make the stay easy (bus rides to and from slopes, travel mobile, lessons booked, dinner reservations made etc) Two private onsens to relax at end of day were fantastic. Yuko the lovely lady who provides massages works wonders on tired muscles and is highly recommended! Great breakfast included at barn next door. We will definitely be back! Thank you again Kimamaya for an amazing trip.
After 2 days of snowboarding, my sore body desperately needs a massage. The reception person suggested to go for massage at Kimamaya. I have to say this is the best massage I ever have, the shiatsu + oil massage 60-min combo was great, I totally passed out shortly after the treatment started. Although I did not stay in this hotel, the staff and masseuse are were super friendly. If you need a massage after a tough skiing/snowboarding day, you should consider this one. Make sure you book in advance and request for a bath session before massage.
amazing service, design, food and accommodations! we just returned from an amazing week. we were a group of 8 and each of us had a blast. peter and his team were a dream. excellent service, beautiful setting, such good skiing...i wouldn't change a thing, i'd love to return and i'd recommend it to all of my friends (i already have been doing that!).
Wow, this place is amazing! It's everything you want for a stay in the mountains: the food, the staff, the rooms, the "feel," and the service--they were all fantastic. We were there during the winter and had an incredible time. If ever we had a question or a request, Peter and his staff were there to help us out. In the morning we had breakfast at the Barn (attached restaurant)--it was the perfect springboard to the day. At night, Kimamaya was the best place to relax, clean up, and head out from. We always went to bed happy and full, and woke up refreshed and energized.
Our family of four stayed at Kimamaya for a week in January. For three of us this was our first visit to the snow and our experience was made all the more magical due to the service, advice and care provided by Peter and Haruka. Thank you also to the friendly, welcoming staff at The Barn who remembered our orders and just how we liked our coffee! Thank you Peter for recommending and organising dinner reservations, skiing coaches (for mum!) and many other helpful tips. Thank you for providing us a phone so that I (mum) could call you when I had enough of the lessons and could retreat to our lovely room.
